Great I just hope the book will be affordable for those who wish to read it.It does suprise me how long publishing houses across the world are slow with translation.

I am Shauki (Petru – Edward hasn’t written my name correct)... I want to tell you, scoobysky, that YES, we do can afford it! Romania is actually seen as a country inhabited only by gipsies and very poor people, which is by far the wrongest approach. There are lots of Romanians working in many European countries, such as UK, France, Spain, Italy, and so on, not to mention those working in the USA. Many of them in very important industrial domains or IT. But what about the native Americans? They have never heard of many European countries. They don’t know any Geography or History at all. There are many uneducated Americans who consider Bucharest as the capital of Hungary, or Budapest as the capital of Bulgaria. Do you forget your own problems? May you have much money but no manners at all, no knowledge! Before speaking, try to inform yourself! We do have access to internet, we do have PCs, most of us speak besides Romanian, English and France or German or Italian or Spanish and there are enough people writing better in English than several Americans.

Thanks for that insulting post Shauki.

Shauki, that was rather offensive. There are plenty of brilliant Americans – and clearly you don’t know much about America yourself if you’re making such assumptions.

Looks like the Rumanian edidtion has no permission to use cover art of its own. means the Rumanian translation of the Harry Potter serie came rather late. Figures in the late ‘90 Rumania had some other items to worry about then the latest adventures of Harry cum sui. Not that having your own HP edition is the measure, but Rumania is making progress…. a lot to be done since Nicolae and Elena are gone.

btw how is Dolores Umbridge translated? Is the English used or a Rumanian equivalent.

Excuse me, Shauki, but how many Americans do you know? You just insulted any American that comes on this comments board. You could have just stopped at, “YES, we can afford it!” but you had to rant, didn’t you? Scoobysky wasn’t rude to say what he/she did. It was, I suppose, an incorrect assumption, but so are many of the things you’ve said. I knew the capital of Bulgaria, thank you very much.

YOU should try to inform YOURSELF before you make that kind of post.

Yes, Shauki, I have no knowledge. That’s why I’m in medical school.

kamion, Dolores Umbridge wasn’t translated! “Looks like the Rumanian edidtion has no permission to use cover art of its own” are you sure? :)))) Gidders, I wasn’t insulting you! I just said what I think about America… like scoobysky just said what he is thinking about Romania – that is a poor country! I know a lot of americans! Alicia – “There are plenty of brilliant Americans” ! Yes! It is true! I know that!! Now, I want to know, what you all think of Romania?

Alicia

What do I think of Romania? I never said it was poor or anything like that! I wrote a whole long paper on Romania for school just two months ago, and it did not mention a thing about Romania being lacking for those things!

But are you SURE you know a lot about America? You seem to assume we’re incredible racist or something.

On your responds to Gidders: “Gidders, I wasn’t insulting you! I just said what I think about America…” Okay…And so you think that opinion you stated was uninsulting? Wrong.

AND technically, we don’t even know if scoobysky is American. Shauki just assumed that he/she was. Pretty racist there.

Grace Weasley, people weren’t happy with the spanish edition? Why?

Posted by Natalie on December 02, 2007, 09:42 PM report to moderator
Grace Weasley

Natalie: I’m not Spanish myself, but I have read the first few books in Spanish. They changed some things for no reason. Like, Trever, Neville’s toad, was a turtle! I have also spoken to people about it, and they dislike their translaters.
