In addition to all the big news this morning about the launch of the There Will Soon Be 7 countdown campaign, Scholastic is set to print a whopping 12 million first print copies of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. As Reuters reminds us, this will break the previous record when Scholastic, the U.S. publishers of the Harry Potter series, printed 10.8 million first run copies of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Wow.
Update: The AP is now reporting this from Scholastic:

“This is so much more than the publication of a single book,” Lisa Holton, president of Scholastic Trade and Book Fairs, told The Associated Press on Wednesday. “It’s a true celebration of the Harry Potter movement and of the joy of reading.”

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by author J.K. Rowling, is due to be released on July 21, 2007.
