Previously we told you about the Open Book Tour author J.K. Rowling would be undertaking this fall here in the United States, making three appearances for school children only at schools in Los Angeles, New Orleans, and New York City. She will also be appearing at Carnegie Hall in New York on Friday October 19 at 7pm, and as a reminder, tickets for this stop are available to the public via a special sweepstakes which will close in one week on August 31.

Scholastic has now updated with information that Jo will be reading from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at the event in NYC, and ” will answer questions about the entire series. Following the reading and Q & A, Ms. Rowling will be signing books for audience members. In order to make sure that she is able to sign a book for everybody, she will only sign one book per person. Each person will receive a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but, if an audience member chooses to bring a favorite copy of any book in the series, Ms. Rowling will sign that instead.”

If you wish to attend what is sure to be a wonderful event, you still have time, and you may enter this contest (ONE ENTRY PER PERSON ONLY) by printing out the entry form, here (PDF) and submitting your entry by mail to Scholastic, attn: J.K. Rowling and the Open Book Tour Sweepstakes 557 Broadway, New York, NY 10012. One thousand pairs of tickets will be given away to this event, and for more information and rules, click here. Oh why can’t J.K.R. visit more places, like Virginia or North Carolina? Since she’s done with the series, she can do an all-state tour (or at least visit most of them) if she wants to.

Melissa, Sue, John… I envy you guys. You’ve had the privilege to meet J.K.R. god knows how many times? Will the Carnegie Hall reading be your tenth time meeting her? ;-)

Oh God. This makes me feel even worse than I already do about not living in Brooklyn anymore… * sigh *

A shame they never learn… I complained before, because of the London Midnight Signing, that only children and also only UK and Irish could enter. And in the USA it’s the same, no foreigners allowed! I’m glad that I’m not going to school anymore.

Why are you glad you’re not going to school anymore? I hate nothing happening here Down Under. JKR never comes here and there’s never any chances to meet the set or anything; it’s as if we’re isolated from the rest of the world Potter-wise.

I will be sending my form in TODAY. My fingers will be in a permanently crossed state for the next week!

Cliff, I have to say I think school kids ask some very interesting questions. Not putting down the kinds of questions we hear from adults, but hearing from the littler ones is a nice change.

LOVE Ya JKR!!!!!
