ishsheruni, no offence, but that’s a very ignorant comment, can you tell me at least one similarity? No, you can not, if you search pics of him, you’ll see Hitler (WWII, J. Kippilng -> WWI) looked totally different. His uniform, moustache (if you can call a little square under his nose a moustache), haircut, face, body, expressions… everthing is different. And what would be the matter if he looked like him? Don’t be immature. The only important thing is he looks like the person he is playing, Jack Kippling.

You are jealous because Daniel is enjoying his time, playing other roles, fantastic roles btw, stretching himself as an actor. And you are just trying to search something bad to say, but there is not anything bad to say, he is acting, playing a character, you have just shown your ignorance.

If you were less immature you would realize this is great for HP, because more experience will be shown while playing Harry. And if you would love history, you would be happy, because this movie looks great, I can not wait to see it.

I’m sad to see Leaky has to suffer such immature people…

I saw the December boys trailer yesterday in front of the movie Becoming Jane. December Boys looks really good. I love when Dan laughs when the young girl tells him she can teach him some things. It is such innocent reaction from a boy who has very limited time spent with girls. I hope it actually comes out in my area. I was disappointed when Driving Lessons did not make it to my area which was odd since Tampa usually gets these smaller independent films all the time.

I think he looks great!!! Way to go Dan! So proud of you. And he was drinking his fav diet coke and calling on his cell. Ha,ha,that was cute. I hope they show it in the US as well. I want to see it!

Avatar Image says:

During WW1 they made teenage officers grow moustaches to make them look older.

Avatar Image says:

I was shocked at how much he resembles Rudyard Kipling himself… And he’d look even more like Kipling if he wore the granny glasses!

I have found myself increasingly obessed with Dan!!! I have been messaging him on myspace and he has actually replied a couple of times!!!!!!

I couldn’t believe it when I got the messages from him- now all I have to do is convince him to marry me!!!

I don’t know what it is, he just drives me crazy!!

Daniel does look so very handsome in these photos and so much like the very young man Jack Kipling.I am SO very proud of Dan for doing this wonderfully sad true story that needs to be told again and remembered. He does NOT look like the monster that is Adolf, that is so insulting, not just to the memory of Jack Kipling himself , who gave his life for the freedoms of others. But also to Daniel who looks just like a WWI soldier .Perfect.

I am SO looking forward to this film. It is being shown in the US on PBS’s Masterpeice Theater.

Loved the period peice suit with the diet coke and cell phone.lol!

pottergirl, Dan does NOT have a myspace of his own. The person your are talking too has the smell of cabbage in their kitchen.Don’t beleive what they tell you.

Rumus, Dan does wear granny glasses for the characterr in this film. You can see him in those second photos.

Jeannine – Re. myspace- there is one that looks very credible but I don’t believe its real- it does look very good though. however, he does really have one- everything is set to private but when you are accepted as a friend you can see a little bit- he posts bulletins and everything- it IS him!!!!

I’m not gullible- I do know there are loads of fakes- but I promise you – this one is real!!

Unless it is verified by a site you can trust like Muggle.net or The Leaky Cauldron, you should assume that anyone claiming to be Dan is an imposter. It’s really a bad idea to talk to these people.

Avatar Image says:

www.DanRadcliffe.com has one that is set up for his fans but HE does NOT come on there. Any other myspace that tells you they are him are a fake .They often look extremely REAL . Dan does Not have ,and never will have ,a personal myspace.Beleive me ,that site is NOT REAL!!!Stay away from him, whoever he really is,he is probubly trouble. [That doesn’t mean that he may well have a website of his own “someday”(like Emma now does NOW) ]

Of course the uniform and moustache might make Dan look a bit like Hitler, but then again, how many other “famous” people stand out in our subconcious minds wearing a uniform and a moustache like that? Regardless of how different the two of them are/were in real life, finding similarities (on their looks) isn’t that big of a stretch specially since I have no clue what the son of Rudyard Kipling looked like. I can understand people getting offended by the comparison but Dan’s haircut and pasty-whiteness aren’t helping much to make the similarities dissappear. I’m sure once he’s in the role, among others looking like him, with a british accent and a completely different personality and environment, the differences between the two will stand out.

Regarding acting opportunities, I’m glad Radcliffe is taking up roles that are so very different from Harry in almost every aspect, be it looks (like this one) or mindset or time frame or whatever, but he’s really trying his hardest not to be typecast. If his other films or projects started to bomb, he’d be in trouble, but so far that hasn’t happened yet. He’s enjoying a stardom aura which I hope lasts him a long while, enough for people to see him as an actor instead of just Harry Potter.

Jeannine, you’re right, I was distracted and didn’t see them. But wow, his resemblance to the man is strking, right down to the cleft chin…

Avatar Image says:

Does anyone else think Dan looks younger than his 18 years? I mean I know 15-year-olds who look much older than him. Which makes us quite lucky really, seeing as he does have to play younger than his age in HP.

I cannot wait to see My Boy Jack! WW1 is one of my favourite historical periods, plus I think this is a fascinating story, so I was really excited to learn that Dan got the part. He’s got a very busy few months ahead of him, with December Boys coming out in a little over a month, then My Boy Jack in November. I guess we’ll see a lot of the young man.

Contratulations on all your success Dan, and I look forward to seeing you in many exceptional roles in the coming decades!

Avatar Image says:

That would be congratulations of course. Hehe…

Avatar Image says:

Jonathan, I think you’re getting your back up for no reason at all and making a huge assumption about ishsheruni. Calm down.

(For what it’s worth, I have a history minor and thought the comparison was amusing.)

Avatar Image says:

Oh…my…god…he is soooo cute! Lol, and yes, he does look like Hitler a bit with the hair and mustache, but I think you guys need to calm down a bit it was only a joke, he does look like him a bit but he’s only playing a role. He certainly doesn’t look like him in real life! sigh

Avatar Image says:

I think Dan looks great in these photos. He has definitely grown into a gorgeous young man. (I can finally say that now without being arrested because he is finally of age. It stinks to be old ;-) I love the period attire and the diet coke.

Jonathan, you really need to calm thyself. I thought the same thing when I saw that particular photo. I guarantee that there were others that had the same initial thought. The comparison was meant in the physical sense only. Dan’s appearance with the slicked back hair, green, military- type uniform and the moustache was strikingly similar to Hitler. Yes, Hitler was the epitome of evil, but nobody was comparing the two in that sense. I loathe everything that the Nazi party stood for, but the knee jerk reaction at the mere mention of Hitler’s name was unnecessary.

Ishsheruni, I think most of us know you meant no harm. You were just making an observation.

Avatar Image says:

“Hitler was the epitome of evil, but nobody was comparing the two in that sense.”

I’m a big Dan fan and I agree with you, while we can compare Dan’s character appearance meaning in uniform, slicked back hair, green, military- type uniform and the moustache, but this does NOT mean that we are saying that Dan the actor looks like Hitler, it is just the overal look that he has in the picture of him walking very serious (hotness).

Anyways, I think Dan has accomplish so much in a short time, Dan is taking the right path, Equus was a success and every aspect, Extras was another success getting his episode an Emmy nomination, December Boys is getting already great reviews and I’m pretty sure My Boy Jack will have the same success.

Congrats Hottie Dan and keep a successful career.

It seems like it will be a very touching story- they could really make it beautiful by referencing the wind and the tide as it does in the poem.

There are so many sad war poems out there, but this one really does seem like the kind of poem someone maybe sobbed over as they wrote it. Lovely choice, Dan.

Avatar Image says:

The pics of Dan in uniform are gorgeous. I’m tickled by the fact that here is a WWI soldier using a cellphone and drinking Diet Coke. The contrast is priceless.

And my favorite is the one where he tosses the cellphone on the air. He must have been some texting some friends all out on a summer holiday while workaholic Dan is sweltering under that soldier’s uniform. I’m looking forward to a very poignant war story. Dan gets his wish here cause his character dies and he gets to do a death scene. Practice for the last HP movie…

Avatar Image says:

I think there seems to be some confusion over the photographs we have just seen.

The two photographs in the brown army uniform are both of Daniel Radcliffe in his role as Jack Kipling.

The photos of Daniel wearing a grey Norfolk jacket and gaiters over his trousers are probably when he is filming a scene where he is shooting game. In those days the dress code was very strict among the better off, and there were outfits for every activity; hunting, shooting, golf, tennis, cricket etc.

Avatar Image says:

Jonathan- It’s quite funny that you start off your comment with ‘no offence, but that’s a very ignorant comment’ and launch off into something that could be nothing less than ignorant yourself. It’s quite clear that you cannot pick up on social cues as i’m sure any other person may have picked up that ishsheruni said nothing in the tone that Dan was anything like Hitler. They were merely commenting on an amusing point. There’s no denying-and people have already commented- that at first glance he does resemble a mainstream image of Hitler.

I don’t think there was any need for you to embark on some sort of righteous babble about the differences between Hitler and Daniel Radcliffe. I think most of us are clever enough to work out who is who.

Avatar Image says:

Cancel the cross out, i don’t know why that happened

Avatar Image says:

I’m sorry but I never laughed so hard. those pics looked like a little boy trying to look like a man. it was sooooooooooooo funny.

“I’m sorry but I never laughed so hard. those pics looked like a little boy trying to look like a man. it was sooooooooooooo funny.”

Hundreds of thousands of young men (including some children who lied about their age) looked just like that died in the trenches during World War I. Nice to know you find it all so amusing.

Avatar Image says:

well said james

haha- how old do you think the boys were that went off to fight? 17 was the conscription age and James is right, many did lie because they wanted to be heros and they never came back.

Couldn’t have put it better James- glad you feel that way haha!

Avatar Image says:

WWI graves include 16-year olds.

Avatar Image says:

“WWI graves include 16-year olds.”

Yep, and even younger. There are records of 14-15 year old’s joining up. There are several famous cases in the UK of 15 year old children being shot for desertion by their own side when they tried to run away from the trenches.

Avatar Image says:

Wow. Dan looked okay in some of the pictures. But am I the only one who noticed the mustache? Seriously, I like him better without the extra facial hair.

Avatar Image says:

Well, Arielle, the real Jack Kipling was 17 and had a mustache. Dan would have to have one too, wouldn’t you say?

I read a comment elsewhere asking that people respect the uniform, as it is what the regiment wore.

Avatar Image says:

haha —I echo James’s comment because it needs to be said and said alot.

That’s what he [Jack Kipling] and a lot of other young men who died in WWI were ,JUST BOYS. They had to try to make themselves LOOK older. They went away to die for their freedom as will as mineand yours . Nice you find it so very funny, haha. Maybe you should go fight for our freedoms as well an see how amusing it is. What did you say? NO, I didn’t think so. One of the reasons Daniel did this film was to show how so many very young men died for this cause[and ones like it ] and left families in grief ,even when proud of their soldiers.

Avatar Image says:

OH! and haha,You might want to do some homework on a subject next time before you make absurd jokes about it.

Avatar Image says:

Off topic but still all about Dan! Check out this hilarious video of Dan being asked who he’d kiss in this Japanese class!
