Happy Birthday Hermione! Yes her middle name is now Jean – Jo changed it from what she said in the early (Prior to OOTP) interview where she said Jane. She’s entitled to do that. Remember Umbridges’ middle name is now Jane – I wouldn’t want to share middle names with her, would you?
BTW – has anyone figured out if the Birthdays on Jo’s site coincide with only those that survived the 7 books? I know that was a theory at one time, but has anyone gone back to check if this is truly the case? Just wondering…
Hooray! Hapr Birthday Hermione! Without you Harry would have been dead by Chapter 5 in Deathly Hallows. I would have liked to have seen it as Hermione Weasley as well but I think Jo might wait a year or so until she uses the new last names for her and Ginny because it would be an obvious spoiler.
About the birthdays only recognized for characters who live all the way through—the only argument that I have with that is when she wishes the twins a happy birthday but then again it would have been way too obvious if she had only mentioned one and not the other so there’s no telling on that one.
