Judi Dench was nominated for her role in Casino Royale, which was nothing special. But if she had been nominated for Notes on a Scandal, she should have won hands down, because that was the most outstanding female performance of last year. Emma was voted best by the numerous young Harry Potter fans who voted via the internet, why else would she win?

Sorry Ian, but in OotP, Daniel was the better actor.

Just because Daniel started out as a crap actor, he’s worked bloody hard to improve himself, so don’t try and take this away from him!!!!!

Venni, majority of the voters are HP fans that’s why we have an HP sweep here. But Dan won over Rupert cause he must have more non HP fans. THe onine voting is not the only criterion. THere are also voting forms available for moviegoers in the UK theaters.

And wow, Evanna easily steals the show from Emma and Bonnie here. Great dress. I’m bemoaning again why JKR gave Harry to Ginny. Evanna and Dan would have looked great in the final movie.

Well, I for one, am glad JKR stuck to the pairing that suited her story rather than pair couples together based on the actors. How absurd.

Anyway, this is certainly one good looking group. It’s always a pleasure to see these kids making the rounds. They look so great. Matt Lewis has gotten pretty dishy, hasn’t he? Emma’s shirt/dress is a little odd, but I think she pulls it off. Sort of. I’m not sure about the green cardigan on Bonnie but I like what I can see of her dress. I think she’s a beautiful girl.

“Venni, majority of the voters are HP fans that’s why we have an HP sweep here.”

Then it IS a joke awards show, no real thing. And if Rupert won it’d have been also a joke. I mean, really both are good for what they do and everything, but both have ages to reach someone like Johnny Depp, if they ever could!

So the bitterness starts. I suppose if Dan wins something for Equus, you’ll say he doesn’t deserve that either? Why don’t you all BOG OFF. These know-it-alls, why didn’t you vote for the other actors if it bothered you so much? Many congratulations to Daniel, Emma, Rupert, Bonnie, Matthew & Evanna, you more than deserved it. And as Helen Mirren & Judi Dench have won Oscars, I’m sure they won’t be losing any sleep over this meaningless award.

And do you actually think Daniel thought he deserved to win?, of course not, but the public, yes THE PUBLIC (by whatever means), voted for him and obviously appear to like him so TOUGH TITTY.

I loved Emma’s dress, as someone else said, she can wear anything and pull it off. It’s the first thing she’s worn in a long time that I’ve actually liked as the premiere dresses were hideous IMO.

YEEEAAAHHHH, Hot Fuzz won, GENIUS OF A FILM.

It just seems to me that Daniel will never be any good to some people who won’t give him a chance and are just angry at his wealth & success.

Just for doing Equus alone, he deserves an award in my opinion. He hasn’t sat on his arse and played it safe outside Potter and has Johnny Depp ever done anything like that, has he ever done live theatre, I’m sure it’s not quite as easy as film acting, yet Dan seems to have pulled it off.

Strange isn’t it, everyone is saying how sad it is Rupert didn’t win anything, yet with all the negative comments about how so-and-so shouldn’t have won etc…I think he’ll be glad he’s well out of it!!

I’m not a Daniel or Emma hater by any means, but they should really call this award show the “teen choice awards” (that’s an american teen award show for you non-americans) instead of the National Movie Awards. I wouldn’t have a problem if Emma won for “Favorite Female Performance”, but calling her the best female performance is laughable.

Venni, don’t put down fan awards. Fans are not necessarily lacking in wisdom you know. They know what they like and can even debate lengthily with any established critic. Besides, The National Movie Awards made it clear that they are only considering the blockbusters. It’s their cheeky return at the BAFTAS who only consider “prestigious artistic” films as worthy of awards.

Anyway, I think Dan deserves this award for his work in OotP. Depp may be good but he was nominated for PotC and his Captain Jack there is getting to be tiresome already. Craig may be good but he doesn’t have that many fans. As for Grint..Rupert himself said that Dan deserves it better than him. So let’s not quarrel folks…

For Dobby’s sake, I think no one realy expected Rupert to win so quit the sour graping. I even had doubts that Dan would win but I seem to have uderestimated Radclifemania. Besides, Dan did reinvent himself with Equus so more people now consider him a serious actor. I have no comments about Emma – both her dress and her win. duh…

But Matthew looks good and funny. In one pic, he was caressing Rupert’s hair. lol. Evanna looked great too.

Oh come on. They all looked great. They all looked like they had a good time. Rupert wore a suit Hey, that’s cause for a celebration more than any award.

I’m happy that they look happy, and appear to be a close knit group that gets along well. It’s all good!

someone, please, teach Bonnie to stand in front of the camera – she can’t even keep her feet straight and then she is wearing sparkly shoes to accentuate that. ARgh. I feel bad for Dan, actually :( Speaking of Emma’s dress. Well, I usually am a big fan of her style, but if you compare her dress to some other dresses that other young female attendies wore, she’s still ok!

At the risk of going abck the hairdo comments that began when first OotP pics came out…if that is what their hair looks like for HBP…WHY HAS HERMIONE GOT BLONDE HAIR??? I mean yes, it has been getting lighter and lighter but that is some serious yellow going on!

That said…the silver sparkly shoes with black stockings ergh! Bonnie, Bonnie, Bonnie…lol At least we know she won’t be wearing heels as Ginny! Dan would look even tinier! Mind you, she might need them to reach Dean’s mouth! roflol

I just want to comment on the idea that Daniel Radcliff is a braver actor than Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp is considered by most in the industry to be one of the best, bravest actors of our time. He has consistently taken roles outside the norm and has turned normal roles into something unique. This is no comment on Dan’s ability now or in the future. But, give the man the credit he deserves.

Hey, all! I’ve just read through the many postings, and there is something everyone seems to forget. For actors, be they great or be they small, there is NO SUCH THING AS A “NO BIG DEALAWARD!!!! Every time an actor/actress wins an award, it is to their merit. It shows that they are appreciated, by the fans and their peers. I am from “across the pond”, and did not know that there was some kind of “vote for your fav, on the internet”. I am a great admirer of Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Toby McGuire. I am also a fan of Dame Judi and Dame Helen. All are wonderful at their craft. So are Daniel, Emma, Rupert, etal. Everyone deserves to be honoured.!
