While casting news is scarce regarding the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, there many rumors swirling online about a new director of photography for the sixth Harry Potter film. Reports now claim that noted cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel will photograph ‘Half-Blood Prince,” which is set to begin filming in the next weeks. Bruno Delbonnel has twice been nominated for the Oscar award in Achievement in Cinematography for his work on “A Very Long Engagement,” and “Amelie,” with his most recent work seen in the upcoming distinctive looking film “Across the Universe.” If this rumor proves true, Mr. Delbonnel would be replacing acclaimed cinematographer Slawomir Idziak, who served as DOP on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. As always, please consider this still a rumor until Warner Brothers releases official cast and crew announcements for HBP.
Well, I had no problem Slawomir Idziak’s work so this isn’t of too much interest to me. But I really hope they get a new film editor. I understand that the current one is an old friend of Yates’ but the editing was horribly choppy to the point of being destracting in OOTP. It really took away from my enjoyment of the film and I’ve heard others say the same.
amelie and a very long engagement are extremely beautiful. it would nice if he could be working with jeunet on this, but i suppose yates will have to do
I’ve never seen either of the films, but two oscar nominations have got to be worth something. personally, I thought the cinematography in ootp was the best of any of the hp films, and one of the reasons the movie was so fantastic.
Well, this guy has some excellent credentials, so I’m excited. I would really like to see PoA’s cinematographer, Michael Seresin, come back for another if possible, though. Whatever you thought of the film itself, you have to agree that it was visually stunning…
oh man, anyone that’s worked with julie taymor is fine by me…
though i hope this doesn’t mean another complete re-working of the world. the movies have started to be too individual. not that i don’t like them to get better, but i think the crew needs to remember that it is part of a series.
He’s a good director but I hope he will do another job the ones he did on the Pierre Geunet because the photography on these movies is too much yellow.
Hope that David Yates will be able to adapt his qualities.
As far for the editing I think that OOTP’s editing was so much better than GOF.
Oooh cool! How exciting!!!
