A Whirlwind of Preparations

Yep, that’s what it seems like is going through our home right now — a whirlwind! Because I leave in six days for Virginia and then, on August 6th, leave there for Chicago and Terminus! This will be my second HP conference and I’m looking forward to this with excitement, longing, happiness and trepidation. I will see friends I made at Phoenix Rising and haven’t seen since last May. I will see friends I’ve made working on The Leaky Cauldron and haven’t gotten a chance to meet in person yet. I will be travelling with my mom and two adult children. One of them, my son Jonathan (21) will be attending the conference with me. It will be his first and I’m looking forward to our sharing the experience together.

So where does the trepidation come into it? I’m up to my neck in crafting that I want to finish before the conference. I’m nervous that the crafts Ive made for people will be received well and they will enjoy them. So if it causes me trepidation, why am I doing it? Because crafting is my release. It is something I love doing and it is something I love sharing with others. From the Molly sweaters I hope to finish so I can deliver at Terminus to their new owners to the ATC’s (Artist Trading Cards) for the HP Crafters’ Intersection there as well. I love the planning, the doing, the sense of accomplishment that comes from crafting, especially in the world of HP.

There is a magic in crafting that comes when I see others crafts too, another reason I look forward to Terminus. The crafting that is displayed is amazing from costumes to gallery exhibitions to so many other things to be seen.

And so I continue my crafting frenzy to make sure everything is done when I’m ready to leave. What’s left you ask? Well, I have four Molly sweasters yet to complete, the backs of eight T shirts and the fronts of four plus another T shirt I have yet to plan.

Think I’ll make it? 😀
