A number of media outlets are tonight reporting that after the recent announcement by Warner Bros. that the sixth film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, would be pushed back to a July 17, 2009 theatrical release, a decision was made by Summit Entertainment to move the release date for the upcoming “Twilight” film up to the now vacated date of November 21, 2008. The BBC has a report online which notes the recent ‘frenzy’ that was caused during the publication of the forth and final book in the series as one of the factors in this decision. News of this move for “Twilight,” which stars Harry Potter actor Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory), also made it over to MTV which quotes Rob Friedman from Summit Entertainment as saying they saw “a unique opportunity to slot in our film, which has been gaining tremendous awareness and momentum over the past several months.”

“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” will now have its release on July 17, 2009.

Well, it figures, doesn’t it? WB makes me so mad!! Why, why, why postpone it until next year. It makes no sense. I guess I will be spending my holiday movie buck on Twilight this year.

Avatar Image says:

Twilight does not and cannot possibly take place of harry potter…..harry potter is better by far

Avatar Image says:

thats weird, yay first post!

Avatar Image says:

ok i just used ALL of uncle vernons choice swear words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what the @#$%^ is WB’s problem!!!!!!!? potter is 10000000000x better then twilight will ever be (cedric or not!) the people at WB are now DEATH EATERS to me!!!!!!!!! this means war. i now that if all the potter fans of the world unite against the face of evil (Alan Horn at WB aka voldemort), we can get our movie back to were it should be (november 21)!!

Avatar Image says:

Seems like their trying to get whatever good press they can after the fiasco that was Breaking Dawn. While it is doing well selling, way too many fans are upset with how things have turned out and obviously they want to nab whatever attention they can to make the movie get good headlines. Oh well at least this lets me see the acting chops Rob Pattinson has and if he’ll break out as a leading man.

Avatar Image says:

I HATE WB FOR WHAT THEY DID. IM DOING THE RED HOWLER CAMPAIGNE WHERE THE FANS WHO FEEL BETRAYED SENT IN RED ENVELOPED LETTERS TO THE WARNER BROTHERS OFFICE. THEY CANNOT IGNORE US.

BTW. TWILIGHT WILL NEVER BE AS GOOD AS HARRY POTTER. IM JUST UTTERLY DISGUSTED BY WARNER BROTHERS.

Avatar Image says:

as much as I am indeedy looking forward to Twilight… I WANT THEM BOTH ON THEIR ORIGINAL DATES dang it…

Avatar Image says:

Twilight=awesome Harry Potter=more awesome.

However Summit surpasses Warner Bros in treating their fans the right way.

& who cares if the twilight series aren’t the most amazingly written books in the whole world? Its a good story. Enough Twilight hate. Its not trying to replace Harry Potter but it sure is setting an example for WB.

Avatar Image says:

Yep, HP is a million times better than Twilight , but then as this move shows, they know how to treat their fans. They move it UP at the last minute, not back. Twilight for that rssaon alone deserves to be a hit

Avatar Image says:

WTH how can twilight EVER compete with Harry Potter. I hold nothing against twilight fans but this hold shifting of dates is clearly just a play to get more money. WB is a vile organization that does not care a tee bit about the fans like us.

Avatar Image says:

Let’s face it!! The only reason WB is changing the date to HP is because Batman did so well in the Box Office. They wouldn’t want to have two big hits in one year. They probably have some low movies next year and HP will boost WB up. Most of my family and friends are saying the same thing. I think it’s low down and dirty to paying fans. As for Twilight, I am not really too interested in it.

Avatar Image says:

twilight was NEVER competion for Potter. potter grossed over $900 million for OotP and Twilight isnt expected to gross over $100 million. Potter moved because WB knows they can make more money with a summer blockbuster then with a Nov. release. Summit saw the open slot and thought “well, why not. it’ll be ready by then”. if the same thing happened vice versa, none of us would be mad.

Avatar Image says:

I have waiting for months for this movie to come out!!! They can not expect me to wait until I’m a ninth grader to show it!! This is just wrong, they made the worst mistake ever doing this. There is going to be an uproar among the Harry Potter fans, they are going to be dumping a lot of hate mail for this.

Avatar Image says:

So basically WB says Harry Potter won’t do good on Nov 21st. But Twilight is going to take its spot, and the millions of people that go see that would have went to see HBP…wth WB? I definitely do not plan on going to see Twilight now. Maybe I’ll attend it in Ravenclaw robes… :P

Avatar Image says:

I can’t believe this! I like Twilight as much as the next person but Harry Potter is ten times better. Everything was perfect until they all went and messed it up. If they don’t change it I’m thinking about boycotting the movie in July. They are moving the movie to make mor e money right? So if they think alot of fans aren’t going to go and they will lose money they will change it back right?

Avatar Image says:

Who cares? Twilight will be lucky to make $100 million in it’s whole run. That’s what movies like HP make in a weekend. I can’t believe anyone thinks that a boycott will actually harm HBP’s box office. Keep dreaming!

Avatar Image says:

this is bull crap. WTF who cares? yes i am a twilight fan, a big one too, but Harry Potter comes first! we been waiting for this movie for the longest time. we been waiting for ginny and harry to finally kiss, and dreading to see dumbledore die. twilight is big, but its not as big as harry potter and i think it will never be. now don’t get me wrong. i love twilight, i love it as much as i love harry potter, but come on. it was pathetic of them to move the date to july 17 09. they only moved it because it would have gone up against twilight. so they moved it next year so they can make more money. well, i have made my descion, on november 21st, im sitting outside my movie theater with a sign stating “i came to see Harry Potter, not twilight”. then dec 12 on the ACCUTAL date release for twilight ill see the movie, and now, i might not hbp. i refuse to see it a year after its orignal release date. ill just wait to download the movie or wait to dvd. im not looking forward to the movie anymore….WB bascailly just took away my love of the movies now

Avatar Image says:

I can’t quite explain why but I find this to be a cheeky move on the behalf of WB. They delay HBP ‘till July and expect to satiate moviegoers by slipping Twilight into it’s original spot… it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Avatar Image says:

Enough with the Twilight insults. No one ever said Twilight was better than HP. We all know that it’s not better, but that is no reason to hate it. Why does there have to be a competition between the two? I’m as upset as the rest of you about them changing the date for HBP, but insulting Twilight isn’t going to make me feel better. Can’t we just be happy that the Twilight fans are getting their movie earlier? Is it too much to ask that we could be happy for someone else?

Avatar Image says:

Good for Twilight. Delaying HBP was a bad move, and I think Twilight will have a lot more people see it now that it won’t be competing with Harry Potter

Avatar Image says:

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!! I was getting all excided counting down the days and everything and now WB has to go and push it back…TIL NEXT YEAR!! =( WB has some major issues!! Don’t they realize that Harry Potter is just superior over Twilight! Of course this is all about MONEY! What else would it be about?! It’s like everyone was saying earlier…WB knows it’ll do better as a big summer release so they’ll carelessly make us all wait practically a whole year for it. I don’t care when they release the Twilight movie or whatever, they just shouldn’t mess with HBP! We’ve all waited too long for this movie as it is. I’m with Jerome on this one…on Nov. 21 I’m dressing in my Hogwarts robes and going down to the movie theater with my friends and a ton of signs saying we want POTTER not Twilight!! =(

Avatar Image says:

I HATE THEM!!!! The red howler campaingn is a GREAT idea! WB SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

I hate this so much!!! i had hear this from someone at my work. I was like ” are they trying to kill me”. The question is WHY WHY i was ok with november 08 but july 09? Are you kidding me? When i saw the trailer fro the movie i got so excited, finally the next movie is coming but, WB just made me wait a whole year now. I need the movie come on the right which is November 21 ,08 not July 19,09.

Avatar Image says:

What’s with all of the Twilight hate? I know some of you have said its cool, but not as good. How can you compare apples and oranges? They’re totally different things. Twilight is amazing for what it is. Harry Potter is amazing for what it is. End of story. They changed the dates and I doubt they will change them back.

People can pitch a fit and maybe, by some miracle, WB will get the stick out of their bums and fix this. However, WB has never really cared about the fans as much as they care about profit. I used to work in the film industry and I can tell you guys that it is all about the bottom dollar. People don’t matter in that industry, which is why I got out of it.

Avatar Image says:

For the record, right now, people don’t hate Twilight, people hate WB for moving HBP and are just a little frustrated with Twilight cause it was the movie chosen to be moved up to the date of Nov. 21. WB could have picked the most awesome movie in the world to be released on Nov. 21 instead and everyone would still be mad about the arrangement. So it’s not so much that we hate Twilight. We hate WB and the way they’re choosing to run things at the moment.

Avatar Image says:

I don’t have anything against Twilight, I’ve read the series and enjoyed it; my yuck feeling comes from the fact that the HBP and Twilight audiences are similar. This is just my feeling but I just think they should have left HBP and Twilight for when they were originally going to be released. Cool for Twilight fans though

Avatar Image says:

COMPLETELY INSANE!!!!!!! IM NEW TO TWILIGHT OBBSESSIONS BUT THIS?? CRAZY! I’M EXTREMELY MAD! I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO BOTH MOVIES, BUT HARRY POTTER HAS BEEN W ME FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

Genius move on Summit Entertainment’s part. There is a fair amount of crossover with the Twilight/HP fans, and throwing this movie out there on the date we’ve all had on our calenders for months has the possibility of drawing more people to the theater. Not to mention the fact that HP fans are hungry for something right now, and we are, let’s face it, an obsessive bunch, it might compel some people to get into Twilight for the mere purpose of having something to tide them over until July.

No, Twilight is no replacement for HP, but I have to say, it is some fluffy fun. Everyone is going to have to face, eventually, that we’re not going to get something like another Harry Potter, and comparing something to it is just going to cause heartbreak. Let’s all just be glad we got to experience HP firsthand, because it is incredibly rare, and keep an open mind about the rest.

Avatar Image says:

hahahahah, awesome move by Summit. They show WB how its done.

Avatar Image says:

I wasn’t planning on seeing Twilight at the theater, but I think I will now. Congratulations Summit on a brilliant move following WB’s idiotic move. Don’t pay for HBP tickets. Sneak in. Don’t buy merchandise or see any of WB’s other movies. Make them pay. Write letters to WB and make your voice heard. Let them know you’re not going to pay to see HBP. Send them to Alan Horn, Warner Bros. Studios 4000 Warner Blvd Burbank CA 91522.

Avatar Image says:

Great, more reason for “Twilight vs. Potter” to start up again! I hate WB, I really do!

Avatar Image says:

let’s shoot them.

Avatar Image says:

Yes! I’m so happy, two weeks earlier. And yes, I’m till annoyed about HP, but loving Twilight and seeing it finally come to life is so exciting. :D

Avatar Image says:

don’t any of you dare watch twilight!!!

Avatar Image says:

i think this is the most ridiculous thing that i’ve ever heard. words cant express how frustrated i am at the moment. I love Twilight, but I’ve GROWN UP WITH HARRY POTTER. To think that Twilight could ever take a lead over HP is unquestionable. When it comes down to it, Twilight should be the ones to change their release date- because god knows harry potter would kick major twilight ass.

Avatar Image says:

Wow, that is like a slap in the face to me. Stupid Twliight, but moreso stupid WB =/

Avatar Image says:

Some people need to learn how to read. Twilight is a movie produced by Summit Entertainment NOT WB. It was not WB’s making to change the release date for Twilight.

Also, let me state that I LOATH what WB did to HBP just like most on here, but this is completely independent from Twilight and Summit Entertainment so don’t even go there with the hating. I don’t know why people are so eager to bash other franchises that aren’t Harry Potter! I was never a Star Wars fan but I don’t bash it. I like Lord of the Rings, Inheritance and Twilight, and though Harry Potter will always be my favorite series it doesn’t mean I can’t like others and it’s really annoying when others bad mouth them. Most other big series and franchises can’t compare to HP in how different from it they are, so only because you don’t like them or haven’t even read/seen them, don’t trash talk and bash them. No one likes it when people bash Harry Potter, so why stoop to their level? R-e-S-p-E-c-T =)

PS: WB executives need to reconsider their desition about HBP’s release date soon or face the wrath of the HP fan community.

Avatar Image says:

I wonder if cultural heritage always shows up in one’s voice and choice of themes when writing.

I knew that Stephanie Meyers was from Phoenix, but I was surprised how clearly that showed up in her stories. Growing up in the Valley of the Sun has always made me aware of smells, the rain, and temperature extremes to the point of being a joke to my friends. Her slightly acerbic tone also seems familiar very Phoenician. Even though I knew he was Quillute, I pictured Jacob’s house as a Navajo hogan with the door facing East.

AND

Jo Rowling’s beautiful Brittish voice makes me want to jump on a plane just to see her land.

I love both the Harry Potter series and the Twilight Series. I have no problem at all plunking my money down on the counter to see all the movies WHENEVER they come out.

Avatar Image says:

Well, at least somebody will be happy.

I’m still wondering why THEY DID THIS FOR TWILIGHT?? I’ve been angry at the Twilight fans recently (even my good friends are Twilight fanatics, so I’m not PO’d to the extreme), but I think it’s just because I’m sick of comparisons between HP and Twilight when I do not see how they can be compared in literary standards.

Wow.. Don’t get me wrong, Twilight is an OK series, but, I am more of an HP fan so I’d much rather HBP come sooner than Twilight.. But to each his own..

Avatar Image says:

yippe~

Avatar Image says:

Okay, I was a seriously bummed out when I found out that HP was gonna be moved back till July, but then I found out that Twilight was taking it’s place which also bummed me out. The movie was supposed to come out the day after my b-day so I had a huge thing planned. I think everything just should have stayed the way it was…

Avatar Image says:

agreed.

Avatar Image says:

Well I must say, I have read both series and I am equally excited about both films. However, I don’t think it’s fair that Harry Potter get moved back, I wonder why, too. I do know though that it is not because of Twilight. Twilight simply took the spot when they had the opportunity. I can’t wait for both movies to come out!

Avatar Image says:

Well, I suppose it sux the most for those of us terminally ill folks…

Avatar Image says:

Man! now i hate twilight!!!! Grrrr!!!! WB is stupid!!! and Twilight sucks!!!

Avatar Image says:

I’m really dissapointed but at least on the bright side it means the movies will last longer. I just hope summit isn’t trying to make twilight like harry potter LOVE BOTH books!! though

Avatar Image says:

WB’s decision has nothing to do with Twilight and its producers so HP fans should stop moaning about other franchises. You should moan at WB.

Twilight’s producers have seen a gap in the market and taken it. Well donr to them for being sharp and savvy. They also support their fans while WB doesnt respect its HP fans. So your virtriole should be directed at WB alone.

Avatar Image says:

Twilight is a fun film. I’ve read the script. HP fans should support Rob Pattinson. They should want all HP actors to do well.

Avatar Image says:

Ok, ok, so now we know why Warner Bros. moved HBP -money…yep who knew? sarcastically I mean, c’mon, so if Twilight opens and doesn’t have to compete with HBP then they will get 2wice the income than they were going to! I have nothing watsoever against the Twilight film but we all should’ve known that it was the money factor again that’s holding them up, not their concern for the better of the fans. Ah, well, something we put up with almost everyday

Avatar Image says:

OH GREAT!! sarcasm

They’ll never bring it back to November 21st now!! Grrrr

Avatar Image says:

Crap i was really looking forward to hpb. I grew up on on harry potter. i always liked the fact that in the movies they were the same age as i was it made me relate to it even more, and this twilight thing makes me even more mad even though WB has no link with twilight. i was thinking about reading twilight but now im too mad to think about it. i dont think i will see it now either. this is kinda making me a little depressed.

Avatar Image says:

i forgot to say that now im going to be a few years older then them now and it wont be quite as relatable in a year. god i hate WB sooo much. they are horrible horrible human beings

Avatar Image says:

This is the biggest bunch of bulls*!!!! I was actually considering reading Twilight, but after this, there is no way in hell I’m going to read it now or see the movie!!

Avatar Image says:

OMG NOOOOOOOOOOO WAAAAAAAY! I HATE YOU WARNER BROS.!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH rips out hair

YUP UR JUST DOING THAT SO U HAV A BETA CHANCE OF GETTING AWARDS AND STUFF!!! WELL WHO CARES?? WE JUST WANT TO WATCH THE MOVIE!!!

YES TWILIGHT WILL BE GOOD BUT U CANT BE SERIOUS…UR SCARED OF THAT BEATING UR CHANCE FOR AN AWARD SO U CHANGE THE RELEASE TO LIKE A YEAR FROM NOW???? THATS JUST SAD

YOU CAN’T DO THIS DO US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

AAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SCREAM OF DESPAIR

Avatar Image says:

Those of you refusing to read/see Twilight now because WB moved HP to next year…pretty misdirected. I was looking forward to 2 months of holiday happy, too, but it isn’t going to happen. Am I going to protest Twilight? No. Direct your anger where it belongs: WB, not Twilight, and not Summit Entertainment.

Since there are apparently so many Twilight haters among the HP fanbase-which makes me sad, since I have loved HP for years-maybe I should stay away from HBP when it opens for a few weeks, so I can watch it in peace.

Avatar Image says:

Twilight is just trying to ride the back of HP. The last book wasn’t very well received so they are trying to do whatever they can to get people to watch this movie.

Oh, and WB sucks.

Avatar Image says:

Warner Brothers is just a money making racket and thats reason why they have moved the date of the Harry Potter film that are scared that their other film wount make as much for them, I havent even heard of the other one. Fans have been waiting ages for this film to come out and now they have gone and done this! I woundnt be surprised if they changed their minds again and make themselves look good! If they really need to delay the realease why cound they not move it to January? Anyway WB you havent really thought this through, what about all the pre- christmas mercandising you will miss out on! All those children whi will want the latest Harry potter toys? Bah humbug warner brothers!

Avatar Image says:

I HATE YOU WARNER BROTHERS.

Avatar Image says:

Twilight is a Summit Entertainment isn’t it? I mean it doesn’t have anything to do with WB? If it does I am not going to watch it… Actually I am not going to watch a single WB movie till Harry Potter is out

Avatar Image says:

I was going to go and see twilight but now I won’t.

vote with your feet – don’t go to see it!

Avatar Image says:

I don’t think fans are hating on Twilight, I think it’s sort of upsetting to hear that it’s “replacing” HP, even though it’s just filling an empty slot. My first reaction was “WAIT, WHO’S REPLACING HP?!?” and then it seems like they’re doing it to appease us, when they really, really can’t.

If it seems like HP fans are hating on Twilight, it’s just misdirected anger.

I was going to watch Twilight anyway, it doesn’t make much difference if it’s pushed forward. Just means I’ll be able to watch it sooner. :)

I’ll just be pissed at WB for pushing back HP, and not take it out on Twilight, ‘cause that’d just be ridiculous.

Avatar Image says:

Why would you not go see Twlight? It has nothing to do with Warner Brothers. :|

Avatar Image says:

Oh, well. Bully for Twilight.

  • is bitter*
Avatar Image says:

As if there wasn’t enough Twilight/HP fan feuds already… I see it now, “TWILIGHT STOLE OUR RELEASE DATE!” Tsk… it’s all WB’s fault.

Avatar Image says:

I don’t read twlilght because I’m an HP fans, I haet twilight because it’s stupid, boring and it reads like a 12 year old fangirl wrote it.

I read better mary-sue stories at fanfiction.net, and that’s all the main character is, an annoying Mary-sue

I don’t know how SM even coulg get her bokks published. they’re just badly written crap

Well, atleast we’re getting a cool fantasy movie. But yeah, it sorta does suck they’ve moved HP so far away, but, i recently picked up Twilight, and i think its great! If i had to pick between Twilight and Harry Potter…I dont know what i’d pick!

Avatar Image says:

You guys, Twilight is not responsible for this, and neither is Summit Entertainment. WB is the villain here and the two are not related. If you want to boycott WB (and I highly recommend and support that decision, I am boycotting everything WB myself over all this) go to Wikipedia for a list of all WB partners and subsidiaries so you know who to boycott. Summit is not on the list.

I also support all the email/snail mail and phone call campaigns, the petitions and any picketing anyone with access can do in front of their offices or studios. Go for it. It may not make any difference, but it sure feels better to do something than nothing.

Personally, I am not a Twilight fan, but my daughter is and a lot of other people I know and respect are. I just don’t care for it, I think the writing is pretty poor (and yes, I have read them all), but that is just me. The movie may be good, I don’t know. I am not hyped to see it, but I probably will because I will have to take my daughter and her friends. That’s fine, whatever. But I have been DYING for HBP ever since the day OoTP came out. I am extremely pissed off about them moving the date back and ready for some serious money-driven revenge. They are not getting any more out of ME.

I have to say that the way Summit is treating THIER fans may soften me toward the Twilight movie a great deal. They are taking care of their fan base and showing that they respect them and are interested in getting them the movie they are craving as soon as possible. Is it still a money based decision? Sure, they are a business every bit as much as WB. They’ll get higher box office numbers for the year because they have just gained three extra weeks, and the bonus is they won’t have to compete with HBP at all. The difference is, their money based decisions are in FAVOR of their fans, not diametrically opposed to their desires like WB. The issue here is that WB screwed us, not that Summit took advantage of the now open time slot. Good for them for looking out for their fans. WB should take notes.

BOYCOTT WB!!!

This Is What I Was Looking Forward To This Year, And They Have Gone A Reiwened It For Some Twinlight, Im Sorry, But If Twinlight Didnt Want Competetors They Should Change There Relese Date. I Am So Anoyed About This, I Cant Belive Anyone Could Do This? Now I Have To Wait Longer, I Have Been Following Harry Potter Since I Was 8, This Isnt Fair, I Have Read All The Books, Soo Mnay Times, Tho, Tbh Im More Of The Book Fan. I Will Not Being Seeing Twinlight, I Wasnt Even Planning It Anyway. Harry Potter Has Always Been My Fav. Not All Harry Potter Fans Like Twinlight, I Know Im Not Really Keen On It!

Avatar Image says:

i am NOT GOING TO SEE HBP if they change the date. we hate you warner bros. i will go on a strike

Avatar Image says:

Gosh how can they do this??? I am sooo much Twilighter and I am dying to see the movie sooner but not on this way. I want the original dates and I am going to fight for them. I am sending tomorrow 15 HOWLERS to Warner Bros!!! They will regret this. NOvember 21 is Harry POtter’s day. December 12 is Twilight’s day.

Avatar Image says:

Jeese people i’m really excited for twilight Stop the hating and who know’s how much money they’ll make it’s the first movie so it’s a toss up!

Avatar Image says:

Enough with the Twilight hate! Harry Potter is awesome but so is Twilight! Twilight had nothing to do with the moving of the Harry Potter date so why is everyone so mad at THEM? Be mad at Warner Brothers. Not. Summit. I am also upset about the change but think of it this way: The new Harry Potter stuff will last longer this way. There is now more time to look forward to the remaining movies.

Avatar Image says:

I have never even read this books but i do have friends who are also HP fans who have. Its not this movies or the casts fault that HP got bumped and this is taking its original slot to boycott it is pretty childish imo.

Avatar Image says:

i for one wont be going to see this twilight movie, no matter how good its supposed to be.

Avatar Image says:

and no i wont stop the twilight hate, i don’t want twilight on the 21st november, i want harry potter.

Folks, I am saddened by the news that I will have to wait another 8 months to pay for the privilege of seeing a film that a) I know will be fantastic b) I will see more than once in the theater and c) I will have forgotten how disappointed I am right now.

You KNOW you all will too despite feeling personally let down by the movie company’s weird decision. But I hope it makes you feel better to complain about it so bitterly. I’m surprised at all of the hate here now.

We are waiting so long and now you can’t just say that our hope is just gone…...Harry Potter Army get’s what she want, be sure in that cause we are now IN THE WAR…...

BOYCOTT WB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

This is ridiculous. The timing of Harry Potter coming out was perfect for me! I was going to spend five weeks in Holland and come back, and then Harry Potter would be out in the next month! So I would have been having a great time getting all hyped up! I think that you had an excellent idea Ty, who said that they were going to be seeing Twilight in Ravenclaw’s robes. I for one, will be holding a massive Harry Potter party on the 21st November, and I’ll be watching all the movies, and dressing up, and making signs. Most unfortunately, my friends do not realise what has happened, as I am the only one that is updated on HP and actually cares about what happens, and so they will think, even though they all ready do, I’m an annoying lunatic, who holds random HP parties! Honestly, I am looking foward to Twilight, but not as much as HP. And if WB don’t think they will get as much people (Which may be true, but let me have another reason to et annoyed.) then just look at HPOP. Both the cinemas that was holding the film at the same time, was literally full, there was actually people sitting in the eisle on the stairs and standing in the exit hoping to get a glimpse(although I thought the movie could have been a bit better but all the same)...MONEY OVERLOAD! This has ruined my life(over exxagurated but not by much.). I have now gone in to my hidy hole and started watching the other Harry Potter movies and reading the books, I even watched December Boys, I actually thought that was quite good. I am now looking out for Ballet Shoes, and I have recently noticed that Emma and Daniel play orphans, I’m also looking out for…er…I can’t remember what it’s called but it has Rupert in it:P. Ok, I’ve finished my annoying rants but I will still go on about it at school…what do they think they’re doing…waiting till I’m in year nine…pulls out rest of the movies and tip toes over to DVD player.

Avatar Image says:

I’m really sorry that people is taking it out on Twilight.. it’s very disappointing!!! I love Twilight and I’m happy they moved it up….. WE ONLY NEED TO BLAME IT ON WB, no others….. Twilight is trying to make its fans happy….. WB clearly isn’t!! So lets just try to find a way to have the release date change again, back to November and let’s not offend other fans in the process.

Avatar Image says:

Look I don’t see why anyone feels the need to get pissy just because Twilight took over HBP’s old release date. I mean, I’m pretty annoyed that I have to wait untill next year to see it…but I’m happy that it’s at least being replaced by what looks to be a really good movie.

As a fan of the Potter movies, this delay is a huge disappointment, but I can see why it could be a positive for the studio. If revenues do not increase from the previous year, it could mean job cuts for those working in the film industry. 2009 must have been looking weak compared to a strong 2008. They need to spread the blockbusters to help support the ‘average’ releases, and avoid layoffs down the road. I’m sure this decision was not made lightly. Unfortunately, they often make mistakes (The Golden Compass).

On the other hand, Summit took advantage of the opportunity to add 3 weeks in 2008 to a movie that needs to do well if any sequels are to be made. Disney did the same with Bolt, moving it up a week. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are a few more schedule changes because of HBP moving to July 2009.

Read Sue’s post in the Leaky blogs, it’s great and addresses the issue of the HP release date move in a personal way.

Avatar Image says:

yeah, yeah. none of this complaining is going to make any difference, because you all are going to go and see twilight anyway. and you’re all going to forget your hate mail and boycotts when hpb DOES come out next summer. wb gets their money, and you’ve all helped prove to them that they can mess with fans and still get paid.

anybody here actually have the willpower to boycott the hpb movie and make a REAL statement? didn’t think so. wb will be laughing while they read your hate mail sitting on a pile of your money.

Avatar Image says:

frankly, i dunno why people are getting so upset that twilight has moved up… if you’re not into the series, you’re not gonna be watching it either way, so why waste your time & energy freaking out so much?? if i were a twilight fan i would be super-ecstatic right now, to be perfectly honest… at least someone is getting something good out of this whole fiasco!! i suppose the big deal is that it adds a sense of finality to the new date, but, really, i doubt it would’ve ever gotten changed back anyway. welcome to this machine we call capitalist society… once they realized they’d get more money from a summer release, there was no hope… even if hardcore fans decide to boycott, they’ll get enough extra money from the mild fans to compensate the loss. don’t misunderstand me, i’m as bummed as the next person over the move, but i have better things to do with my time than dwell on something that’s not gonna change.

Avatar Image says:

thats so not fair potter is so much better than whatever twilight is ive never even heard of twilight. whats it even about?? we shoulod all complanin

Avatar Image says:

Honestly, after calming down and thinking about the WB fiasco with a clearer mind, I have to wonder if this is truly about finances alone. It is simply to late in the schedule for that to be the only reason. There are too many schedules being affected. Toy, game and collectable companies have their release schedules to suit the movie release time frame as well. They had to change the date on the trailer and other promotional materials. It just doesn’t make sense. If they really want even a shot at easing some of the havoc created by this pr disaster of a decision, they need to be upfront with us. Is this truly a financial issue or is there something going on behind the scenes. They need to show us the respect of a complete explanation instead of that tripe about “caring about the fans” if they want to retain even a hope of coming out of this unscathed.

Avatar Image says:

People. There is a very good reason to hate both Summit and WB: WB delayed our film. Screw them. We shouldn’t have to wait until effing JULY to see a movie that had been previously promised for NOVEMBER! But, I read a theory on here which I figure is right: WB does not want two blockbusters in one year. HBP is expected to rake in over 900 million dollars, and with Dark Knight already blockbustering like crazy this year, they’re going to delay it until next year so that they can use it as their main summer film. It’s low, it’s dirty, but that’s how corporate business works. Next summer makes more financial sense, even if it is TOTAL BS with the fans, but what do you they care? They’re a massive corporation. We’re just a bunch of crazy fans.

As for Twilight: I’m one of the fewer male HP fans, so Twilight is not my forte. And as for you people saying it’s like comparing apples to oranges? It’s not. Right now, Twilight is the closest thing in the world to a second HP, and naturally many people will try to compare the two.

Concerning Summit: A total sleazeball move. Like someone else said, we all have the 21st of November marked on our calendars, so what they’re doing is using the preexisting hype about the date to push the sales of their movie. The huge crossover between HP and Twilight fans helps things, since people will want to see something on the 21st, and Twilight will be their first choice.

I’m not at all happy with the situation, but I don’t think there’s anything we can do about it. WB is certainly not going to go and move the release date back to November, not a chance in hell. So we’ve got to learn to live with it.

Avatar Image says:

I will go see HBP when it is finally released (if I live that long) but I WILL NOT spend another cent on a WB movie until then. I see nasty things about WB in taglines on forums that are completely unrelated to HP, so there must be widespread disgust at how WB mistreats its patrons. They love not the fans, but they love the fan’s money, so I am withholding mine just like they are withholding the release of our already long awaited film.

Avatar Image says:

All of you saying I am going to forget all of this come July, speak for yourself. I won’t. I know multitudes of other fans won’t either. Remember there are millions of Potter fans in the world.

That kind of attitude is exactly why WB thinks they can do this! They think they could push back the date as long as they like whenever they like and the fans will make some noise about it but then just flock to it anyway whenever it ends up being released.

njds: Yeah I DO have more than enough willpower do boycott HBP right up to the DVD release and I will. I will be far from the only fan who does. Many if not most who boycott will still see the film in ways that do not involve paying WB any money. It’s not exactly hard. Not that I’m encouraging that sort of thing. Wink wink.

What is the point of all of you discouraging fans who want to boycott? If you want to see it, go see it, we can’t stop you. But don’t tell us our efforts are for nothing, because if we MAKE a united effort and arrange and go through with a petition in the hundreds of thousands they won’t be, will they? It can be done, it is not impossible, all it requires is a very simple choice, and many fans will make that choice.

Don’t say it can’t be done. It will be done if we can get hundreds of thousands of people to DO IT, won’t it? So no matter what you say, some of us are going to try and arrange this boycott. You don’t have to join us, but I plead with you to not discourage us, because it is not in any way whatsoever in your interest to do that. If you disagree and think it is in your own PERSONAL interests to stop OTHER PEOPLE from boycotting, feel free to explain why.

Nobody ever achieved anything by saying it was impossible.

Avatar Image says:

Brad, we’re not expecting WB to move it back to the original date now that Twilight has parked themselves there to make themselves attractive to disappointed HP fans. But they could easily move it to Jan 2009. Then they’d still have the HBP gross in 2009 and there would only be a 2 month delay as opposed to 8 months. I can’t see them doing that either because WB is (foolishly and incorrectly) convinced that July is the best and most perfect time for a blockbuster release due to the success of The Dark Knight. Unfortunately WB are absolutely terrible at identifying the cause of a film’s success. The Dark Knight was successful because of the interest surrounding Heath Ledger. And Prisoner of Azkaban was the first HP film to get a summer release and it was the lowest grossing of all the HP films.

CarolynJ, here is a message I’ve posted on a couple of other threads:

The only thing, the ONLY suitable response to this move, in my opinion, is to NOT BUY TICKETS for Half Blood Prince at all. AT ALL. I am a huge fan, yet I can do this. I have to make a moral stand, even if it means depriving myself of something I really want. We have to do the hard yards. Sorry, that’s the way it is.

Boycotting all Time Warner releases (WB and New Line) and products from all of Time Warner’s child companies is a great addtion to a Half-Blood Prince boycott, but not going to see HBP makes up the meat of the boycott and without doing that, the rest is near enough worthless, you’re still giving WB the massive HBP gross that they are counting on in 2009, which is exactly what they hoped to achieve by making this move.

If you end up going to see HBP, you’re doing exactly what WB expected you to do when they made this decision: be upset with the decision, maybe threaten to boycott, but to end up going to see Half-Blood Prince anyway, because “true fans” wouldn’t or couldn’t bear to miss the movie, or cut off their nose to spite their face, or whatever other nonsense has been said against the idea of a boycott. I am a true fan. I’m certainly a hardcore fan of the books, after all, they came first. The movies are a great and hugely entertaining addition to the fandom which I look forward to, that’s why I will not support WB trashing the hopes and expectations of moviegoers with broken promises and corporate greed.

Prove WB wrong. Boycott HBP all the way to the DVD release, cable release, or the discount (1 dollar or 50c) cinema. Don’t let them mess with moviegoers and snatch longstanding release dates back this close to the release, ever again. Yeah, releases get pushed back now and again. But almost always for more sensible reasons than this. This is a COMPLETED movie.

Avatar Image says:

im crying now. WHAT R THEY THINKING??? DO THEY REALLY THINK THAT TWILIGHT WILL BRING IN MORE THEN HP?I LIKE ORIGINAL DATES BETTER!!!MAYBE I WOULD BE FINE IF THEY MOVED IT BACK TO LIKE JANUARY BUT 8 MONTHS???? THATS ALMOST A YEAR!!! WHO AGREES?

Avatar Image says:

arghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

I knew it! WB postponed our Harry because of Twilight! well thats one reason. money is one more. I don’t know anything about Twilight and I’m not interested at all. we want Harry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

arghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

First MuggleCast turns Twilight, and now the friggen MOVIE is delayed because of it?! Screw this.

Avatar Image says:

I think obviously the reason summit bumped twilight up is so that harry potter could not possibly change back now because they will not be able to get enough theatres. therefore, no competition

Avatar Image says:

I’m going to boycott, but instead of not seeing HBP, I decided that I wouldn’t see any other WB movie until Harry Potter comes out. If they’re moving the release date like that, they have to wait to get any of my money. I’m glad Twilight is moving to November 21st, even though I would much rather see HBP on that date. At least I have one thng to look foward to.

Avatar Image says:

I, too, am upset about HBP being moved back 8 months!!!!!!!! I was really looking forward to Nov. 21. However, KUDOS to the higher powers of “Twilight” for moving up their release- they have the right to do that. I don’t see why everyone is making a big fuss over this. I’ve read ALL the news sources listed on the Twilight Lexicon, and Steph Meyer posted on her site that the decision to move up the release date had nothing to do with her…. they just took advantage of a good opportunity. Also, who knows, maybe they wanted to put a little more time in between Twilight and HBP since it’s gaining A LOT of popularity. Look at it this way… with the new date for HBP, we won’t have to wait as long for DH 1 (GEEZ, hopefully).

I love both series! Also, I don’t see why they are calling “Twilight” the “next Harry Potter…” the only things these have in common are the facts that they are both young-adult reads, and the movies are based on the books. I’ve read all the books in both series. There are differences that make them able to stand alone without being compared to each other.

Avatar Image says:

My loathing of twilight just moved up a level! Releasing Twilight on HBP’s old release date is adding insult to injury! Now not only do HP fans have to wait another 8 months, but we have to hear from all the Twilight fans how their movie is coming out so soon. I hate Warner Brothers!

Avatar Image says:

UGH!!! THIS MAKES ME SO MAD! Why would WB do that when HP would sell ten times better than twilight. Besides HBP is going to be way better! Now we have to wait a whole year! I wonder how this will offect the Deathly Hollows movies???!!!

Avatar Image says:

We should boycott the first night of Harry Potter and let them feel the pain, but we shouldn’t punish ourself. If we all boycott July 17th we can still watch the movie 100 times after that. Buy a shirt and support the cause! http://www.cafepress.com/WizardsStand

Also another good idea is to wear your Harry Potter Shirts and buy tickets to Twilight to show the WB what they are missing!

Avatar Image says:

This upsets me nearly as much as WB moving HBP in the first place…

Avatar Image says:

Angela, boycotting the first night of HBP won’t make a difference if everyone goes and sees it opening weekend anyway… nor will going to see it 100 times after that. That’s just putting more money in the coffers and is exactly what we should not be doing.

I’ll continue to bang this drum: buy a ticket for a non-WB movie and then walk into HBP instead. You might not be able to pull that off on opening day, but you should be able to otherwise. Don’t give them your money, but don’t deprive yourself either. That’s so far off from my normal way of looking at things, it’s bizarre, but their pushing back the movie at this late date is deplorable.

Avatar Image says:

wow…this is like shooting someone and then kicking them on the ground (hurts!)

Avatar Image says:

we should all go and see twilight just to show them their mistake! (i was going to see it anyway though)

Avatar Image says:

lol! wow I guess ticking off Harry Potter lovers wasnt enough, now all the twilight haters will be fuming. Anyway I guess this is better than no movie on november 21st.

Avatar Image says:

I for one, am VERY UPSET that WB did this. I am going to boycott all WB films til HBP. I might even wait til HBP is on DVD and rent it. But as for Twilight, there was an available day, they took it, end of story. One of my best friends is a Twilight fan. I can be happy for her, but I still want my Potter!!!

PS- does any one have an address to send a howler to??

Avatar Image says:

Hm… I have no comment on this because I have so many negative ones I`ll be kicked out of here. But I do agree, Twilight will never, ever in a million years take the place of Harry Potter. Possibly beating HP in the box office in opening weekend, maybe – since it is a new movie based on a book. But whatever. Long live Harry Potter!

Avatar Image says:

The Twilight Saga is a passing fad. Breaking Dawn was a disappointment, and the whole series does not even come close to capturing the worldwide phenomenon that is Harry Potter. Postponing Half-Blood Prince is ridiculous to say the least!!!

Avatar Image says:

I’m a huge Harry Potter fan, and have been since the first day it was released in the US. I’ve recently jumped on the Twilight fanwagon and ask this – How on EARTH do you compare the two??? YOU CAN’T! Honestly, Twilight may be written for “young adults” but the themes and love story could be just as well written in an adult book (I’m in my 20’s). You don’t find those themes in Harry Potter – which deals more with the fantasy/magic/evil v. good themes….so stop comparing.

I choose to support BOTH films! Obviously, I’m disappointed with HP6 being pushed until next summer, yes that SUCKS…but at least we can enjoy something else in the meantime. This isn’t the “be all, end all!” Calm down…let’s support the fantasy genre, why don’t we? It will mean more for us to enjoy in the long run.

Okay, I’m stepping off of my soapbox now. :) Love you all.

One more thing -

Hey Leaky! Did you see this article?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,404681,00.html

Fox wrote an article theorizing that the movie push back also has to do with Dan’s role in “Equus.” They don’t want his naked body/sex on stage bit to distract from his clean image in HP. WB hasn’t admitted it, but you have to admit, it’s a good point!!!

Avatar Image says:

I vow to Boycott! We all know they could release both movies without playing with our heads. Leave HP”s original release date alone and put Twilight out around Valentines Day or New Years. Now I will make sure I don’t go see either one of them in the theater, nor any other WB movie for a long time after. I guarantee that if I can resist going to Half Blood Prince in a theater then there is no other movie they could release that will tempt me to break my boycott vow.

Avatar Image says:

Princess Potter – that address is for the actual studios – I’m almost positive Alan Horn is at another (corporate) location… need me to check?

Avatar Image says:

Please ENOUGH w/ the Twilight bashing people. I love both series and of course Harry Potter will always be my first love and there’s nothing like your first love. So please enought w/ the Twilight bashing. It was a smart move Summit on they’re behalf, they’re taking advantage of a great opportunity.

I agree w/ many people on here about buying a ticket to another movie and sneaking in to see HBP when it comes out.

Avatar Image says:

I just don’t see why people compare the two books – they are COMPLETELY different! It’s okay to like both!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

Is twilight being released in the UK on the 21st or is it all diffrent international release dates??

Avatar Image says:

I have no interest in seeing “Twilight,” or reading the books either. I avoid anything involving vampires pretty much. I prefer books like The Wheel of Time (Robert Jordan) and Sabriel (Garth Nix), and of course Harry Potter.

I find it really irritating that WB moved the HBP film like that. Not only because I’ve been waiting and waiting, only to have it be moved once we only had 98 days to go. But In addition to that, I had some gift certificates for the local movie theater that expire in December. >:(

Avatar Image says:

Howler Campaign This is a Howler Campaign against the WB.

If you have not heard, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been moved from it’s November release date to JULY 2009!

Bottom line reason – they think they’ll make more money that way. They say another reason for doing so is the writer’s strike… THEY’VE ALREADY FINISHED FILMING! THEY’RE GOING TO START FILMING PART 7 IN FEBRUARY!!! So that’s just a BS reason.

There are plenty of on-line petitions against this popping up. Reality, on-line petitions don’t really work.

However, millions and millions of Harry Potter fans sending two or three or ten red enveloped letters to the WB Headquarters, just might actully catch there attention.

Here’s their address.

Warner Bros. 4000 Warner Blvd Burbank CA 91522 818-954-6000 Warner Bros. Studios 4000 Warner Blvd Burbank CA 91522 818-562-3062

Write HOWLER at the top of the page.

Keep it simple and to the point. No physical threats.

Maybe something like WB=Greed. Fans=Pissed. D.A. hates WB! or something else. I’m too mad to think of anything good right now.

Letter writing worked for Star Trek, it worked for Jerricho. It can work for this. Maybe even send a letter to your local media too. The last thing the WB wants is an angry stink over this showing up all over the news.

Don’t just think about it, do it!!!

DUMBLEDORE’S ARMY!!!

Avatar Image says:

Hooray for Andrea’s comment!!!

the books are totally different, hp is a whole world where twilight exists within our own more realistically, and i’m not saying that one’s better than the other because you CAN’T COMPARE THEM!! i love both series equally though hp was the first series that made me love books:).

and excuse me Mr. Book Dweeb, Breaking Dawn was NOT a dissapointment, steph meyer made it unique by breaking it up into 3 books within a book from 2 people’s perspectives.

AND steph meyer even has a respect for the hp books so stop bashing her too eveybody!!! stop taking your anger from the move of the hp movie out on twilight just because summit was smart to move it up with no more hp competition.

okay, rant over

Avatar Image says:

this is crap! I used to LOVE twilight (not as much as HP) and I went to the breaking Dawn release like a lot of others, but that book was BAD! Now suddenly I have to wait a year to see the movie I really love, and only a few months to see something that’s probably gonna be bad anyway, by the looks of it.

This blows.

Avatar Image says:

Without having to compete with HP now, Twilight will probably be huge – I agree with A., I was thrilled to have both of them this fall! Now I’ll just have to settle for the Twilight movie – at least it looks pretty good and I have a feeling it’s going to be HUGE for Pattinson…

Avatar Image says:

I’m not mad about this at all. July is just the best time for the movie. Because I think I would rather see the movie in my free time when I’m not preoccupied by school etc. And I love Twilight, so the fact that it’s on instead makes me happy. Also, the gap between HBP and DH movies is much smaller now. I’m trying to think positive people!!

This is incredibly rediculous. They are only postponing the freaking movie so that they can get more money off of it, but it will probably get an equal amount of money in the summer as it would have during thanksgiving weekend.

Avatar Image says:

Just a note – I watched the Clone Wars this weekend and they had the Harry Potter trailer with “November” at the end… maybe they didn’t get enough time to pull the trailer? Or is there hope?

Avatar Image says:

Dont boycott HBP, Boycott Twighlight dont hurt HP …. Which u wont do anyway youll probably go see it at midnight like everyone else. so quit posting crap that u and everyone elsse knows is crap

Avatar Image says:

I dont think the reason for changing the movies is because one is better than the other. in fact i think its because harry potter will sell more tickets in the summer. actually HBP is getting a better date, but of course we all want to watch it in november.

Avatar Image says:

Enough twilight hate! twilight has come a long way in a short time and is definetely not to be underestimated. Summit knows how to treat their fans and Warner Brothers doesn’t! Obviously, Harry Potter is bigger, but they’ve had forever to get to that. WB is really goanna get hung by doing this.. those reasons are ridiculous. I, for one, am very happy to get twilight sooner, but next summer for harry potter?!? are they trying to kill me?!?

Avatar Image says:

I might have been interested to see this Twilight thing in cinema, before this terrible offence of WB. But bahh, no way, They wan’t get any more money from me from now on. A nice pirat copy will do.

BOYCOTT is the only answer to this betray.

Avatar Image says:

Twilight is way awesomer, you all just wait, it’s gonna be so much better than Harry Potter.

Avatar Image says:

seriously.. twilight and harry potter are both awesome. it sucks that they moved it back but hey at least we get twilight earlier. and to be honest we cant do anything about harry potter coming out next year instead.so everyone stop being so mad and try to enjoy the fact we get twilight abit quicker. cant wait for november : )

Avatar Image says:

I love The Twilight Series, I think the books are great! Of course I also love HP books. When I finished Deathly Hallows it was so nice to have something else to read (after re-reading HP series several times) My point is that both book series are wonderful, its hard to compare one to the other, since the stories are so different, its like comparing apples to oranges. I hate to see how bitter and hateful some people get trying to put down Twilight or Harry Potter, Why??? We can love both! I think most of us die hard Twilight fans are also die hard HP fans like myself? how could we not be??? Don’t we all share a love for books and great stories? Anyways, my first point is that, its very silly this war between HP and Twilight fans (that some have). Both are good and can’t truly compare one to the other, The stories are too different, but that doesn’t mean we can’t love both at the same time. About the movie, I think its wrong!!! I can’t wait that long for HBP! I was so unhappy with Order of the Phoenix, that movie was so bad! I was looking forward to having HBP make up for the last OOTP. Then again, its always disappointing to watch a movie, when you’ve read the book first.

Last point… enough cracks with Breaking Dawn please… the majority of Twilight fans and I should say true Twilight fans loved Breaking Dawn (me included) it was a small group of people that didn’t like it. There are much more of us that liked it than the ones that didn’t, go check out any Twilight site comment area and read the heated debate. Of course the rude, cowards that hacked The Lexicon stay over at Amazon chat. ok, that’s all I’ll say about that.

I wish things could go back to Normal… HBP movie November and Twilight in December. I was looking forward to watching both before the Holidays. I don’t know what warner brothers is thinking? I wonder if it has something to do with the opening of the Universal Studios Harry Potter Park??? I don’t Know? Warner Bros. Please don’t make us wait so long….

Avatar Image says:

No one should be bashing Twilight for making a very good move! Summit Entertainment made a very good move by taking the HBP date! They get to show the WB what could have been. Do not blame Twilight or Stephanie Meyer or Summit Entertainment for taking over the date! It was a very good move for them to do this. Blame WB Pictures! .

It makes me so mad that Twilighters and Potterheads can not co-exist! Twilighters need to stop bashing Potter and Potterheads need to stop bashing Twilight! They can not be compared! They are both unique in their own way. People think that Twilight was made to compete with Potter. It was NOT! Meyer never thought her books would do so well! Just like JKR didn't think her books would ever do so well!

So please stop taking all your anger towards the WB out on Twiligh, Meyer, and Summit Picturest. It is ridiculous and unnecessary.

I am so angry at Warner Brothers about this! I don’t understand why there is a need to compete. I have read Twilight and wasn’t enthused to hear about this. WB is making a big mistake. I will not be attending any showings of Twilight. It will get no support from me.

Dementor, I agree 100% with everything you said! I loved Breaking Dawn, I’ve read it twice already… Breaking Dawn is my favorite book of the series, I love it! I am a little sad that I have to wait until 2009 for HBP though. I was looking forward to watching HBP and Twilight before the Holidays. Well, I guess there’s not much we can do but let Warner Brothers know now unhappy we are with what they’ve done. I don’t blame Summit for taking that spot, if Twilight hadn’t taken that date another movie would’ve taken the spot, so why not Twilight?

Avatar Image says:

Very mature Michelle…

Avatar Image says:

Thanks Isabel!

And LOL Maria! Agree 100%!

Avatar Image says:

Ugh, I hope this wasn’t one of the reasons Half-Blood Prince was delayed. I want to see the Twilight movie, but is there really a reason it needed to move up a couple of weeks into the HP slot? There have been too many metaphors between the two. Are Twilight die-hards really so frenzied that they can’t wait until the scheduled release date? It’s not just a move, it’s a move into a HP slot. I’ll still see it, but this doesn’t seem right.

Avatar Image says:

I’m a huge fan of both Harry Potter and Twilight, and though I’m glad that Twilight is coming out earlier, I’m disappointed that Harry Potter and the HBP is being pushed back so far. July 2009? I just think it’s kinda cruel to get us all excited with the trailers and the promo pics and then say that they’re going to make us wait almost another year for the movie. I liked the dates how they were before. Two of my favorite series having movies weeks after each other was like a dream come true. But waiting until July 2009 for a movie I expected in November? That’s just a cruel nightmare.

Avatar Image says:

ok….i have to be neutral in this comment because i am both a HP fan and a twilight fan!!! :S so I’m really mad HP is postponed but am also celebrating with the twilight fans!!! (don’t kill me plz!!!)

Avatar Image says:

AGAIN!

Thanks you red~blossom739. And no one should kill you for stating your opinion.

Avatar Image says:

Ugh, Twilight. Bloody hate it.

Damn you, Warner Brothers!!

Avatar Image says:

Thanks you red~blossom739. And no one should kill you for stating your opinion.

Avatar Image says:

That’s just adding insult to injury isn’t it because of The whole Twilight is the new harry potter thing, Twilight is nowhere near as good but people keep on comparing them like on the back of Breaking Dawn it says move over Harry potter, that makes me so annoyed!

Avatar Image says:

Gaaaahhh! Whhhy??

Avatar Image says:

In regards to why WB wont change the date to January 2009 for HBP: It’s very simple. They need a summer blockbuster for 2009. Summer blockbusters always make the most money of the year. They chose HBP to be their summer smash hit for 2009. And the stats line up. OoTP was released in the summer, and it’s the highest grossing HP film since the very first one. WB has noticed this, and I believe that this is why they’re moving it ahead.

As for Summit: For the last time people, Summit Entertainment and Warner Brothers are completely seperate. WB is NOT moving HBP to Jult just so Twilight can have the November 21st release. That’s absurd.

Avatar Image says:

That’s just plain ignorant!!!!!! Twilight is great! Breaking Dawn is an awesome book, but it doesn’t mean it compares to Harry Potter. There are two different types of books, you can’t compare apples to oranges.

Why the childish need to insult Twilight? Does that make Harry Potter look better? of course not!!! Harry Potter is a good book series, I love Harry Potter, I love everything about Harry Potter and most Twilight fans love HP. Why do you feel the need to insult something you more than likely know nothing or very little about???? Its not Twilight’s fault, Stephenie Meyer’s fault or the fan’s fault, that the media insists on calling Breaking Dawn the Next Harry Potter or calling Stephenie Meyer the next JK Rowling. Stephenie Meyer isn’t looking to be the next JK Rowling, please!!! Most of that is the media! So, they put all of us against each other, over what??? two very good book series??? that is dumb! We can love Harry Potter and like Twilight. Its possible for humans to like more than one thing at a time, people… We liked/loved Harry Potter first and that will never change, but we can also love Twilight. They are so different that there is plenty of room for both, the stories are nothing alike, one copies nothing from the other.

Please Guys lest stop the childish stuff! Lets make both JK Rowling and Stephenie Meyer proud. Lets show them that their fans are well educated and polite people and not barbarics that fight over the most stupid things.

This is getting ridiculous. Warner Brothers moved the date of the movie and the fault falls on them entirely. So, Summit chose to take that open slot and put Twilight on that day. Do you guys realize it could’ve been any other movie??? We are directing our anger at the wrong people. We should be emailing, calling or whatever Warner Brothers and letting them know we have waited long enough for HBP and now they want us to wait until next Summer?? If we need to hate anybody its them. FOCUS PEOPLE!!! lets work together and try to get our movie to open in 2008, in order to do that we need to work together and contact the right people, not go after poor Summit or Twilight, it Warner Brothers and their thirst for money that caused this problem.

Avatar Image says:

Both of these series are great.. we just have to wait a few more months for harry potter but complaining about it wont help any

Avatar Image says:

guys, dont expect twilight to do well.

the frenzy surrounding the release of twilight was caused by nearly half of the fans hating the book with a vengence (which is logical, it was pure pedophillica uterus chewing smut) and turning on the series because of the crap that was breaking dawn. meyer’s took a major hit and her publishers did too when a good chunk of fans returned their books.

the choice to move twilight up is because of breaking dawn. the controversy of breaking dawn is already under swing and continuing to gain momentum. they want to get the film out before the controversy gets too big, so they can slide it in under the radar of people who dont read. this choice was for movie goers who dont know anything about twilight, not for twilight fans.

Avatar Image says:

exactly what world or universe do you live in???? I use to Love HP, but the more I read the hateful rants you children post on here. I have to say forget HP!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

i agree with almost everyone in delaying HBP was a bad move. I don’t think it’s fair, but whats done is done. Lets all just move on. Please!

Avatar Image says:

YAY! This was a brilliant move by Summit. I love Twilight and am sooo glad it’s been released early. It sucks that HBP was delayed but to be honest in my opinion, if HBP is ANYTHING like OOTP, then its going to suck anyway coz Yates seems to be a terrible terrible director, and the script of OOTP was beyond pathetic. I’m really hoping there is a different script writer for the next films. I was so devestated when they asked Yates to direct DH. I was like NOOOO!! Bring back Alfonso, or get Tim Burton, he would be PERFECT! Im more looking forward to Twilight because they are staying completely true to the book thank god, and have a brilliant director and highly talented actors.

Avatar Image says:

P.S. I agree RACHEL. I HATE ignorant immature HP fans who insult Twilight for no reason. The only reason they insult it is because the media for some weird reason keep comparing it to potter and it freaks them out. Well i think these people need to grow up. The two series are different, are aimed at different people and are both great. The twilight books are beautiful stories, that deal with real serious issues. I don’t care what anyone says, they’re great books!! And I think that anyone who dissagrees is unable to appreciate a beautiful love story with action and serious issues.

Avatar Image says:

Look I know that people have made Harry Potter vs Twilight into a big thing bit I have to say that I love both… it is possible. There is no compition, there is no need for one.

Though I am mad at the fact that Harry Potter is coming late but just because Twilight took it’s spot for the release date doesn’t mean Twilight is replacing harry potter.

Trust me when I say Harry Potter and Twilight are both good in their ways…. and we can live while liking both. So go Vampires and Wizards!

Avatar Image says:

way to go Twilight! i wasn’t planning on seeing this untill i heard how it was but now i’m going opening night… in hogwarts robes. WB can kiss my @as

Avatar Image says:

I read this info yesterday. I tried to tell you about it but had web site problems. I read it on Twilight S. Meyer website yesterday

Avatar Image says:

IF what they are saying is true that really is bad because Twilight cannot compare to Harry Potter when it comes to sales. You know by the fan base that Harry Potter has way more fans and that Twilight is more to young screaming girls who read it for the only reason to see Edward. Just because Twilight made big sales on the books does not mean that they are going to make as much as Harry Potter would. What are the people at WB thinking they are really mental. Plus Twilight was or is going to be released in Dec,12 where movies tend not to do well at all by this time where people are more worried what they are going to buy for Christmas than to worry about a movie. AND WB YOU SUCK

Avatar Image says:

I told you guys it was because of the stupid Twilight book/movie! How dare the Executives sit around waiting for the arrival of the the last Twilight book, just to see if it’s popularity was enough to bump HBP to next summer!!! How dare they!!!! WB knew that Potter fans would wait no matter what and spend our money whenever it comes out, were loyal, but to spit on us like that! Screw WB and Screw Twilight!

Avatar Image says:

i love twilight but this hurts sooo much i might cry

i want harry now i’lll have to wait 333 more days wb are official death eaters

Avatar Image says:

i’m actually upset about both moves…..I thought it was great that they were not exactly going to be in same time frame.. giving each movie a chance…. letting the fans of both not have to decide between the two….. and i had my schedule all set. to attend both….

I love Edward…but i’‘ve been friends with Harry longer…

Avatar Image says:

This is completely ridicules! Why why why …. I don’t agree!

Avatar Image says:

On another note I will not watch Twilight just because of this. I know it wont make a difference, but that’s the least I can do.

Avatar Image says:

Doesn’t HB seem more of a holiday move that Twilight? HB has all the seasons in the movie and celebrates them all as well. It just seems like a better movie to have out during Thanksgiving/Christmas time.

For the younger children this is a bad move because parents arn’t going to take the kid to see Twilight. IMO HB is a more family freindly move than Twilight.

Avatar Image says:

YAYYY I LOVE THIS :D I’m HAPPY. xx

Avatar Image says:

What’s Twilight? Is there other movies besides Harry Potter? There are only two movies, Harry Potter and all the rest of them. Shame on you “WB”, oh, Wait “wb”. THey don’t deserve capitalization in their name!

Avatar Image says:

Why did they have to release a teaser? I wish they didn’t because it only made people expect and now there’s nothing to expect on November 21st. Just when you’re so excited and happy, they take it all away in an instant. It’s like taking candy from a baby.

Avatar Image says:

We as fans should not have to be put through this outrageous thing of moving twilight to our movie date… I was going to go see the Twilight movie at midnight with my friend, but I cannot bring myself to do that now. Uhm… Sorry right now my anger is surpassing my ability to be happy for the Twilight people to get their movie on our release date… I wish that Horn and his cronies over at WB would treat us HALF as nice as the Summit Entertainment people are nice to the fans of Twilight… Join the movement to boycott all the WB movies until HBP comes out…. They think they’ll get more money because they’re going to release their movie at a “better time”. Let’s show them that if they don’t have us HP fans behind them they’re losing a lot of money!

I think I’ll still go see Twilight but not twice as I had planned… Once to see it once to quote HPGoF quotes… I might go once instead and yell “That’s rubbish!” at the beginning of it…

Ach. This disgusts me.

Avatar Image says:

Because of what WB just pulled and because of how much of a slap in the face to HP fans,I WILL NOT be seeing HBP in theaters.I will wait to watch it online on one of the many websites that show movies only hours or a couple days after they are released in theaters.Same goes for my brother.

Great idea,WB!Now you just lost some money.I will not give them a single dollar because of what they just did.Maybe if the HP movies didnt take 2 years to make,(LotR made longer movies a lot quicker)they could have finished one part of the Deathly Hallows and released it next July instead.

Avatar Image says:

Good grief!!!! Why all the hatred and talk of boycotting?? TRUE fans of both movies will go see them regardless of the dates, don’t ya think?

In reference to whomever posted about the writers’ strike… HBP was not post-poned because of the strike; the original article said that HBP WAS on schedule… they moved the date because there was no particular block-buster movie scheduled to release that week in July; OTHER movies were post-poned and release datesdelayed because of the writers’ strike… you know how the studios are! They think that we have nothing better to do in the summer than go to the movies….summer= big revenues!!!! So be it; it’s just the way it works.

I do agree that it just won’t feel like Fall without HP…. and I whole-heartedly agree that it’s ok to have BOTH Harry and Twilight.

Avatar Image says:

I wonder what Jo thinks about all of this? These are her fans….KWIM?!? As for me I will go see Twilight a few times and I hope they do great in the box office. It may not make as much as HBP would have but I hope it’s up there and I WILL NOT go see HBP in the theater! A PP had said a boy cot would not hurt them in the box office but it’s not so much to “hurt them” as the princple of the matter…they set a date then took it away! AND I hope they bust out the other 3 movies in the Twilight series Lord of the Rings style baby one after the other and not like WB has done with HP!

Avatar Image says:

Personally I don’t go to the movies in the summer at all…movies are for fall and winter. I love to go into a nice warm theater and eat my pop corn..movie theaters in the summer are kept at freezing temps and I’d rather be getting a tan pool side than watching a movie even if it is Harry Potter! I won’t be going to see it!

Avatar Image says:

really annoyed that its gona be even longer after leaving the last film so open that you couldnt wait for next one and the dates finally comin and bombshell we gotta wait even longer well bleep bleep bleep

Avatar Image says:

TOTAL inside deal right there. It is way to much of a coincedence that the Twilight trailer came out so much earlier then the original release date of the movie. Bogus.

Avatar Image says:

We were planning on seeing Twilight, but that has changed now. We will not be seeing any WB movies untill HBP is released on Nov. 21. Warner Brothers has made a HUGE greed driven mistake. Did they actually think they could get away with this?? They are holding HBP hostage for money. Sounds like extortion to me. I hope WB has enjoyed our money, as they won’t be getting anymore!!

Avatar Image says:

OMG! Most of you are the rudest fans I’ve ever heard! You all are tearing down Twilight and blaming it for moving HP! It’s not Twilight’s fault!!!! I’m a a huge HP fan, but you know what? I think Twilight is better! If you want to blame anyone for HP being moved back blame WB not Twilight. Even if it did take HP’s spot don’t knock it until you try it… Stephanie Meyer even said on her Website that it was not Twilight’s fault for the move so just drop it! Here’s what Stephanie had to say about this whole ordeal, “First and foremost, please know that this schedule change has absolutely nothing to do with Twilight, me, or Summit Films (so enough with the imdb death wishes, okay?). This is Warner Bros. decision, and it was not motivated by anything Twilight-related.” Go see Twilight and then go and protest HBP….... I persoanally don’t think a stupid movie that probably wont even be as good as the book is worth protesting. I plan on seeing Twilight in November and then going to see Harry Potter in July.

Avatar Image says:

I too would have to ask people why they’re making value judgments on the Twilight series. Sure I didn’t enjoy it AS much as the HP series but I can definitely see how others might. They are two completely different types of stories but they’re both quite good. To compare their worth is a waste of time as its a matter of opinion.

I just don’t get the whole highlander “there can be only one!” attitude the fanboys on either side spout.

That said, I haven’t really been too impressed with the last couple of Harry Potter Movie adaptations: OotP & GoF. They’re getting more and more rushed and disjointed rather than just longer. So I’m kind of looking forward to the Twilight movie a little more than HBP. I don’t like the books as much but the movie adaptations could very well turn out better. I hope so.

Avatar Image says:

Twilight is terrtible! just terrible! Im sorry why they compare stephanie to JKR is beyond me…her writing skills are that of a grade schooler!

Avatar Image says:

I can wait for Twilight! But not Harry Potter 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This sucks…

Avatar Image says:

People need to step back and take a breather. I was surprised when WB moved HBP but not angry. Nov. 21st was the worst date for me because it’s the day after the last day of my college classes and it was messing with our schedule like mad. Summer is much better because nearly everyone’s out of school. I know many fans don’t agree but I can wait until summer. As for Twilight taking the open spot, I think it’s great for Twilight fans. I’m excited for that film too even though I haven’t read those books. I’m a Harry Potter fan through and through, but this way, Twilight will have its time to shine and HBP will dominate the summer like it did last year. I don’t have any reason to be mad about that. Personally, since we’re all going to have to wait till July no matter what we do, I think we should all join the Twilight crowd when the film comes out, and have a good time in line having intelligent discussions about our respective fandoms. That’s what being a fan is all about, having a good time with other fans – even ones from other fandoms – meeting new and exciting people, and forging friendships. It’s the kind of thing Dumbledore would want. Those who think otherwise should be ashamed. In the grand scheme of things that are terrible in this world, a shifting of movie release dates is something that we should not be angry about. Let’s just all be friends and enjoy what we get when we get it. We’re getting a theme park for crying out loud! There are worse things in the world to complain about. Let us be happy.

Avatar Image says:

i am very upset with WB with this decision! i am also excited though cuz twilight comes out earlier! i have to say that i love twilight more than harry potter. i think that harry potter fans shouldn’t hate on twilight! i am sick and tired of fans doing that! i hear twilight fans insult harry potter and harry potter fans insult twilight! just stop it!!!!! i don’t want to insult either book series becasue they are my two favorite books to read! (i must say that i love the romance in twilight and that is why twilight is my fave now) i think that people should just refuse to see HBP more than once if you are mad so that way the revenue will be low on it and it will teach WB a lesson! don’t take your anger out on twilight!

Avatar Image says:

People need to chill out. It’s not SUMMIT or TWILIGHT’s fault that WB made the decision of moving HBP to July ‘09. Summit took the opportunity that was handed to them when HP6 was taken out of its slot, and that’s that.

The bashing’s ridiculous. Twilight and Harry Potter are both phenomenal book series that are connected only by the huge fanbase they carry with them. That’s why they’re always being compared to each other.

Avatar Image says:

harry potter is ten time better than this will ever be warner brother are a crap company in all areas first they screw up signing Elliot Minor in the music industry, and now they screw up the release date for harry potter? god their tw*ts if i knew where they were based i would go and protest (Y) idiots

Avatar Image says:

I am truly upset with WB (money hungry jerks) all the fans have been waiting for this movie. Dont they understand how we feel, GUESS NOTTTT. Twilight will be a good movie, but it cannot be Harry Potter. Something needs to be done to get WB to see that they need to put the movie back on schedule or release it on Christmas.

Avatar Image says:

I agree with Chero and luna, I like both series very much for what they are separately. This is very disappointing to hear harry potter fans who are supposed to be all loving and understandable, to be tearing down another fandom like that. It Is quite rude and goes against the true spirit of what the books have been trying to teach all of us. I’ve heard some really negative comments about twilight from potter fans about the story and what occurs with in it’s pages. I know people are entitled to their opinions etc. However, the fans I’ve run across aren’t sounding all that different to those who had bashed Harry Potter and still do. To have harry potter fans stooping to that level is very sad.

Avatar Image says:

I love the HP ‘books’ and JK’s witting has improved with each one. The movies have gotten worse with each successive release as more is left out and distorted. Soooooo I’m trying to say that yes I’m angry that WB is delaying HBP but I now I won’t have to be disappointed in it until August because we no longer feel the movies are worth the first week crowds. Reread the books again I’m sure most of you will enjoy them much more then the movies. I’m sorry for those of you who are fans of the actors but you still have the dvd’s. :)

As you know Twilight is not a WB film and has nothing to do with the move except caring for their fans and an open date. I have been planing to see it because I’ve enjoyed vampire lore since before Buffy and Angel(both well written) or Anne Rice. I just read the first 50 pages of twilight and will persevere hoping it will improve. The movie could be better then the book. All 3 Lord of the Rings, extended versions, were better and Practical Magic is a much better movie then book. I’m hoping Twilight is also one of the rare exceptions where the movie outshines the book. It has Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory) as the male lead and that’s a great start!..even if magic is my first chuice of subject matter.

Avatar Image says:

I don’t understand the hate between fans of Harry Potter and Twilight. I love both series as they’re good and entertaining reads. I also loved that a lot of book series like these are being translated to the big screen so I’m definitely going to watch both movies, whenever they’re going to be released. Summit Entertainment has made it clear in its press release that they don’t intend to replace the Potter franchise in their decision. Even the author, Stephenie Meyer, have mentioned that she is not involved in the decision to move the release date and had frequently mentioned in interviews that she looks up to J.K. Rowling. Comparing Harry Potter and Twilight is like comparing apples and oranges. Perhaps, we should cheer the success of two stay-at-home moms who have done nothing but to entertain us with their writing and restore the love for books.

Just a thought though: if another fall movie say Bolt or The Day The Earth Stood Still took over Harry Potter’s slot, would it make a difference with the uproar between fandoms? Maybe yes, maybe not. What I do hate are the press who create a war between fandoms when there shouldn’t be one.

While the love and enthusiasm are great, all of us should just chill. Perhaps, we should cast the bad memories into our own Pensieves or travel to Switzerland. I’m sad for the delay in release of HBP but I’m happy for Twilight’s early release. I’m a fan of all the HP and Twilight actors so definitely one of the reasons why I’m supporting both films is Robert Pattinson, which is precisely why this article exists in Leaky because they support the works of all the actors who participated in the HP movie franchise. There will be HP fans who don’t like Twilight but if you’re a true fan, you’d support the films released by HP actors and that includes Robert Pattinson. So, cheers to you Leaky for a very professional take on this news release.

Avatar Image says:

Twilight isn’t a Warner Bros movie for all those implying that they moved Twilight- that was Summit Entertainment, nothing to do with Time Warner Inc. But with this move all I can say is cheeky cheeky b**s!!

Avatar Image says:

omg im madddd people have been waiting for MONTHES and now its pushed back like 220 days!!! its good for twilight fans though. I am reading the books and their good, but certainly not comparable to HP. i still want to see twilight movie though, for something to do on nov. 21st. I was seriously counting down the days until HBP and now i have to add a ton? thats not fair. oh well, life isnt fair anyway

Avatar Image says:

There’s nothing we can do to change the release date at this point, however there is something we can do so it doesn’t happen again, and so WB get the message.

Please sign a pledge to boycott the opening weekend and send a message to WB that they will actually listen to. Forward this on to everyone you can. That way we can still see the movie when it does come out, but on our terms, sending WB a strong message, and hurting their big opening weekend:

There moving Harry Potter to next year because the fans of Harry potter and twilight wil only pay once to see Harry potter and once to see twilight. So it will be taking from one this way the fans will pay twice back to back to see one . It is a money making move.

Avatar Image says:

Well, I’ve never read Twilight but I know it’s about Vampire romance or something like that…I CAN’T BELIEVE WARNER BROTHERS!!! HARRY POTTER IS BETTER THAN TWILIGHT AND ANYONE WHO THINKS OTHERWISE HAS TO REREAD ALL 7 OF THEM (AND MAYBE THE DEATHLY HALLOWS ABOUT 100 TIMES)!! ANYWAYS, AS JEROME POINTS OUT…WHICH CAME FIRST?? HARRY POTTER!! HOW DO WE KNOW TWILIGHT IS NOT JUST A COPY OF HARRY POTTER?? My best friend has always been a Harry Potter fan and then she started reading stinking Twilight and claims it’s better!!! No Vampire Love Story can ruin Harry Potter!! Twilight doesn’t even sound like a good book. Not that I don’t think Vampires are cool or anything (my respect remains with Sanguini, who should be in theatres like the rest of the Half-Blood stuff November 21st, but NO Twilight’s too special!!) but how could someone like it better than Harry Potter?? Maybe I’m being biased about Twilight I mean, I haven’t even read it. But I can assure you, I won’t like it as much as Harry Potter. I CANNOT believe the Warner Brothers did this, though!! I CANNOT believe this!! Really, it would be necessary to go down to their studios with pitchforks and everything and start attacking them. I have now officially named the Warner Brothers “The Death Eaters”!! Great, now who’s joining me in “Dumbledore’s Army”?

Avatar Image says:

Freaking Twilight is taking HP’s spot???? OMG I AM GONNA CRUCIO SOMEONE!!!!!!!!! Twilight is no where near as popular and it never will be!!!!!!!! I am so angry right now!!!!!! Just let us have our movie for crying out loud!!!!! URG!!! I am so angry that i dont even know what to say!!!!!! Oh I know what: Warner brothers can fall off of a large cliff!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

I don’t think this has anything to do with the Twilight filmmakers trying to compete with HBP. That assumption is baseless and just plain stupid. In order for them to be competing, they would have to be coming out the same week. I’m sure they saw the opening up of the release date as a nice opportunity for them to take up the slack – especially for those fans who are planning on seeing both. Twilight will likely have a stronger showing in its first few weeks now than it might have had before (coming out just three weeks after HBP and two weeks before the Christmas rush). There’s nothing really now to compete with it in its genre. Acting like they’re trying to slap HP fans and the film in the face is childish. They saw a good chance and they took it before someone else could. You can’t blame them for that. Just because WB is acting like a pack of jerks doesn’t mean everyone else is.

Avatar Image says:

For people who are telling us to calm down: Stop telling us because none of us know if we’ll get over it. Well, thanks a lot, Twilight. You just took HBP’s spot!!! We have waited for the sixth movie for almost a year and now WB announces that you’re in the spot we’ve been waiting for. WB, I will NEVER forgive you!!!

Avatar Image says:

WB has nothing to do with Twilight. Go scream at WB but do not blame Twilight.

Avatar Image says:

wait so let me get this straight. They’re postponing it even though they’re going to be finished with it????????

Avatar Image says:

my o my sorry to sound offensive but really some of you people are being idiotic. I am deeply angered by the new release date but to place your blame on the twilight series is wrong. Im not even a fan of them and I still have more respect than you guys do. They were not taking advantage of HP’s weakspot, but instead were simply trying to please on there part.

You can send red letters or whatever the crap it is alll you want but do you really think that this is gonna get fixed? I don’t. WB is interested in moneysacks and a couple of easily disposed of letters will do nothing to stop them

Avatar Image says:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THATS NOT COOL. NOW I HAVE A YEAR OF NO HP GOODNESS X(

Avatar Image says:

Hey guys! I am a HUGE HP fan, but I also Love Twilight. I think this war between HP and Twilight fans is so dumb. Both book series are so amazing and good! You can’t compare the two, its not possible. They are too different, yet they both have helped so many children to read. Both HP and Twilight fans are intelligent people that shouldn’t allow the media to drag them into this “BOOK WAR” don’t you guys realize we are being used! I wont mention names, but this week alone, one online media oulet had over 3000 in less than 2 hours thanks to HP and Twilight fans fighting. That’s tons of money in their pockets! I say HP and Twilight fans can agree to disagree, I say we can learn to co-exist. We don’t have to be “in love” with each other, but PLEASE! Lets band together and not allow the media to use us like that! It makes me so angry to know that they are probably reading all our angry posts and laughing…. thinking of ways to fuel the “BOOK WAR” so they can write more articles and get more hits on their sites and get more $$ at our expense. Come on HP and Twilight brothers and sisters!!! We are all smart people don’t allow these Media places use us to make big money… We are smarter than that!!!!

Avatar Image says:

NoNOOOOOO! Figures,we get down to double digits, and WB decides to add on a few hundred more days of waiting.Great.I suppose I will just have to read Twilight and watch that instead….....

Avatar Image says:

HOW DARE WB! HOW DARE THEY MOVE TWILIGHT UP TO THE EXACT SAME DAY AND THEN HAVE THE NERVE TO SAY THAT TWILIGHT IS NOT “FILLING HARRY POTTER’S SHOES!” IT’S THE EXACT SAME DAY, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! IF THEY WANTED TO MOVE UP THE TWILIGHT MOVIE, FINE! JUST DON’T MOVE IT TO THE EXACT DAY THAT HALFBLOOD PRINCE WAS SUPPOSED TO COME OUT! THAT JUST SCREAMS “WE THINK TWILIGHT IS THER NEXT HARRY POTTER, AND THEREFORE ITS OKAY TO REPLACE THE SIXTH HARRY POTTER MOVIE WITH THE TWILIGHT MOVIE.” THIS JUST REALLY TICKS ME OFF.

Avatar Image says:

In my opinion, the Twilight book wasnt very good. Sure the movie MIGHT be better, but im not going to see untill it premires on Starz. HP however i will go see that 100 times in the theater!! And I’ll buy it when it comes out (of course) and watch it even more!! Ha take that twilight!!

Avatar Image says:

I am happy for Twilight and i am mad because they move HP. Oh well i love both series…so. By the way is so annoying reading people insulting T because what WB did. lol I guess not everyone can be open minded and impartial. Oh and yes many hate or whatever BD but even with DH some were hating too, so i dont mind haters of books. Haters of books are people that cannot accept that the stories werent wrote for them .
