We have some more great movie news this morning, as it has now been confirmed that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be shown in IMAX, released the same day as the film opens on November 21, 2008. Also of note to fans is word that sections of the film such as the dramatic events at Hogwarts and the finale of the movie will be shown in 3D, just as parts of “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” were shown in IMAX 3D.

Thanks to Coming Soon.net for the heads up!

Bring on the swirling ring of 3D FIRE!!!!! YESS!!! But on a serious note, I hope they stop the 3D for the lightning struck tower, because 3D can be quite distracting, and that moment should focus on the emotional imensity of the scene, and not the special effects. I will probably do what I did for OotP: see it 2D at midnight and 3D at 11:30am after a nap and the theatres reopen.

I hope it comes to the IMAX in my city. I don’t think we’ve gotten OOTP yet. If we have, they advertised it poorly. We didn’t get GOF until May after it was released. So, I have yet to see these in IMAX and there’s a theater half an hour from my house! It makes no sense.

I cannot wait to see HalfBloodPrince on IMAX. OOTP was amazing in Imax 3D, and I can’t wait to see what gets thrown at us in Half Blood Prince :)

This is not going to do ANYTHING for the film. OOTP was a small film acting like a big film. OOTP is much more pychological about Harry’s struggle. HPB is much a look in to Voldemort’s psyche. OOTP in Imax was a disappointment. Seeing it in smaller screen was much better. HPB is similar in its style. It doesn’t belong in an Imax.

It’s not going to happen, but could you guys imagine a Quidditch game in 3D? BLUDGER!!! :-D

Personally, I didn’t think the 3D scenes in Phoenix were that great. It wasn’t bad, either, but it didn’t blow me away or anything.
