Earlier we told you actor Rupert Grint was to appear on the Al Murray’s Happy Hour show tonight. That program has now aired in the UK, and thanks to our Order partner RupertGrint.net video of the interview is now online. In this funny interview, Rupert discusses his role as Ron Weasley and mentions he is playing Quidditch in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, as well as briefly mentions the two part movies for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Rupert also says he has read all the Harry Potter books, with other topics ranging from the audition process he used to get cast in the Harry Potter series, to his ice cream truck. I thought the host was funny at times, but it’s hard to judge Rupert as an interviewee here because he actually did not get much of a chance to speak. The host just talked too much, and that magic trick took up too much time. Rupert Grint does seem a bit shy, he laughs and nods his head and I can totally relate. I am very shy, am now a lawyer and am still shy. I do all of the paperwork and let the others stand before the judge. I’m happy to have someone else there to speak for me. Like, Michele, I had an unshy sister ( a year younger) who always broke the ice whenever we went anywhere. And I was quite content with her taking the attention off of me!
Firstly I am a fan of ALL the HP actors and I think that just because Rupert is shy that does not make him boring and I am not a ‘Rupert fanatic’. I dont understand why people who bash Rupert watch his interviews? If you dont like him dont watch him. Simple. Like Coolie I also think some people are being a bit pretentious and going on their high horse over comments that really are not worth taking seriously (and that Ilia is why I didnt get offended over the ‘proper actooor’ comment). It suprises me that some people feel the need to compare Rupert and Dan. I like Dan but Ruperts shyness and awkwardness endears him to me more. It doesnt matter to me that Rupert is not a stage actor, or a ‘thespian’, or that he’s rubbish at interviews. Big deal. Everybody is entitled to like who they like.
Knolwdge (is that even spelled right?) you have not learned anything in this interview? Well some who have not read the books have learned that Dumbledore dies in the 6th HP movie! lol And now I know that Rupert still has his audition tape with him and that he doesn’t want to go naked this early and that he thinks stage is a big step.
And expelliarmus is applicable to mice, because it was in reference to that giant mouse that came out later in the show which had a fake gun and stole their cheese! If you didnt recall, they called him Volde-mouse! lol
Why did the interviewer tare the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book apart?
If someone ripped up my book that i wrote on a talk show I’d really be pissed off.
Are people saying what i said was pretence?! It was merely an explanation of how comments could be construed. Cant believe how defensive Rupert fans are.
“OK, what was different from this interview on regs to Rupert? NOTHING, he didn’t say anything new about himself or about the movie, the interviewer was doing all the talk and all the jokes, Rupert was sitting there laughing and pretty much not saying much, the same old Rupert, Rupert didn’t make me laugh, the interviewer did, Rupert didn’t pull any jokes, the interviewer did, Rupert was just there and giving small answers like always, I have learn nothing from this interview about the movie or about Rupert, only that he is the same old (almost 20 year old MAN) that pretty much says nothing in interviews, if it wouldn’t’ have been for the interviewer this could have been another boring Rupert interview!
And if you disagree with me then you must be a blind Rupert fanatic.”
He’s not required to!!
He’s not required to be entertaining! No one is! He’s not required to do or say anything you want him to say or do! He’s just a person giving interview! There is nothing wrong with this!!!!
What’s with all this issue about Rupert being shy? He is shy, and it shows. But that’s just him, and it’s adorable considering that he has millions of dollars and co-stars in a big-budget film series. It’s better that he has his feet firmly on the ground than to act like the whole world around him. The HP kids are all grounded and humble and they deal with this in different ways.
But, if you notice in his past interviews, he is beginning to talk more. This interview actually shows that he has more confidence now. Let the boy grow. We can’t expect him to be shy one moment then be all bubbly in the next. We seem to forget that they (HP Kids) are like any other kids. They go through phases.
Rups been on an Al Murray show before wasn’t he? He was in the audience at one of Murrays gigs and Al sent him out to the bar buy booze for a few people. He was underage at the time :-)
whatever you said bad things about Rupert , I still like him and his shyness. He is one who I pay all my attention when I see HP movies. the Best of trio.
Ilia pretentious means oostentatious, showy, pompous ecetera. Kind of like how I sound right now. And having read through the comments I agree you did come across that way. The fact that you felt you needed to explain things to others supports this I’m afraid (the derogative comment). Or maybe you were just doing a Hermione. In which case feel free to carry on.
I don’t care what people say. Rupert is always my Favorite … I just keep watching HP movies because of him.
RUPERTTTT… So fricken cute, hot, adorable, and down-to-earth! He’s so amazingly good-looking! My God! And the interview was hilarious! It’s now one of my Favorites!
I thought he came across as humble, a fantastic achievement considering what he has been through as he has gone through adolescence. He’s emerged as a likeable and easy going guy – go Rupert! And I like Dan and Emma too – to whoever said that anyone who didn’t find the interview boring had to be a rabid Rupert fanatic, that’s just not true, and it’s pretty self-important too. But anyway, I thought the interview was absolutely hilarious, a little diamond – thanks Leaky for bringing it to everyone’s attention!
"Do you know what this is, Potter?" Snape said, his eyes glittering dangerously again.[br]"No," said Harry...[br]"It is Veritaserum -- a Truth Potion so powerful that three drops would have you spilling your innermost secrets for this entire class to hear
