Actress Helen McCrory is profiled in a new article now online from the Daily Mail in which she talks about her career, life, and role as Narcissa Malfoy in the upcoming “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” film. In this lengthy article, Helen briefly discusses her role as Narcissa in the sixth film, saying: “Just wait for me to be wicked and witchy.” As readers will remember, due to her pregnancy during the “Order of the Phoenix” filming, she was unable to take on the role of Bellatrix Lestrange in that film, but, the article notes, was instead offered the role of Bellatrix’s sister, Narcissa, in the “Half-Blood Prince” and “Deathly Hallows” films.

Production is currently underway for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” which is set for a November 2008 release.

What an interesting bit of casting. I’m still glad HBC was cast as Bellatrix, but good luck to Helen McCrory as her sis Narcissa.

Thank God she plays Narcissa! I mean, I’m so happy with our Bellatrix and Helena! And for Helen, she looks like Narcissa i imagined (just blond:D) yeah….I want to see that picture too!

Bellatrix Black

Narcissa was blond haired, wasn’t she?

Ummm…let’s just say, I’m not a fan…

Even with blonde hair, McCory does not look at all how I, at least, imagined Narcissa. But if she plays the part well, I’ll be happy enough.

i think helen will be good as narcissa however to be honest i pictured narcissa being younger than what helen looks like..but mabye turning blonde will make her look younger. Im glad that helena got the role of bellatrix though shes perfect for the part cant imagine anyone else doing it.

I agree i cannot picture any one but HBC playing bella, i am sure helen wil do well as narcissa, as for narcissa’a age remember at this point inthe HP story her son Draco is 16 going on 17 and she has been through the trauma of having her husband arrested and her home searched. so her looking a bit older than you might think would make sense

To be perfectly frank, none of the actors except Evanna Lynch looks anything like the way I imagined the characters. Not Dan, not Emma, not Rupert, not Michael Gambon, not Alan Rickman, not Maggie Smith, not Bonnie Wright, not even Helena Bonham Carter. ::shrug:: But they all do a great job, and I love them all for doing a great job and for bringing HP to life.

I’m looking forward to adding Helen McCrory to the list. ::nod::

I pictured Narcissa as a cold aristocratic type brought down by the fear of something horrible happening to her only child as well as the imprisonment of her husband. I think this actress will do the part justice just as HBC did to Bellatrix. I can’t wait to see her on screen! (insert fangirl squee)

Why can’t you people just be nice sometimes and give this lady a chance. Every time there is a cast update or a photo everyone takes out their claws and start ripping it all apart. I thought we were fans here. I think it would be better to hold judgment of someone until you see them in the part and not some photos of her in other roles or a bad photo from the set. Helen is only 38 years old which if this was Narcissa’s age at this point would mean that she was 22 when she had Draco. With Draco being 16/17 then Helen is the right age to play his mother.

She’s supposed to be blonde. Oh well. I guess that short of detail doesn’t really matter. Just like with every being pissed that Harry doesn’t have green eyes in the movie.

Oh well… Is Narcissa supposed to be “wicked” in the Spinner’s End scene? To me, she just seemed a woman deeply worried about her son and husband…

She looks better with blond hair, though =)))

Why isn’t she blonde?!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen her before, or if I have I can’t remember it. I hope she’ll be good, I love Narcissa.

She played PM Tony Blair’s wife in THE QUEEN and I though she was very Narcissa-esque in that. She is a marvelous actress and very funny.

I think she looks marverlous, although from the picture I cant tell exactly what she looks like or how lond her hair is. That would be weird if Lucius had longer hair than his wife. I dont think its the case though. We just cant see these very well. She looks great with her golden locks and GREEN dress on. Im excited that she is in this one and returning for the DH movie as well. I hoped she would.

I’m sure that she’s a wonderful actress, and I think she will do well as Narcissa. however, even with blond hair, she doesn’t look like Narcissa to me. I have always seen Narcissa as having very fine, delicate, but sharp features. I’m sure that she’ll be great as Narcissa.

good lord , dont know how to spell. meant marvelous and long her hair is.

We haven’t even seen a clear picture of her. How the hell can people judge her already: her hair is brown (it’s blond now), she’s too old (no, she’s Narcissa’s age), her facial features are wrong (how is that, her facial features are never discussed in the books). This is a ‘dame’-quality actrice. Just wait and see, if she actually sucks ass in HPB i will take back my words, but I seriously doubt that she will suck!

I really didnt picture narcissa to look like that at all but, who knows she may be the best actress in it.Ofcourse im so glaad she’s not bella that would have been awful.Anyway im sure i will be to exited to care about appearance when the movie comes out!I cant wait!
