Actress Helen McCrory is profiled in a new article now online from the Daily Mail in which she talks about her career, life, and role as Narcissa Malfoy in the upcoming “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” film. In this lengthy article, Helen briefly discusses her role as Narcissa in the sixth film, saying: “Just wait for me to be wicked and witchy.” As readers will remember, due to her pregnancy during the “Order of the Phoenix” filming, she was unable to take on the role of Bellatrix Lestrange in that film, but, the article notes, was instead offered the role of Bellatrix’s sister, Narcissa, in the “Half-Blood Prince” and “Deathly Hallows” films.

Production is currently underway for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” which is set for a November 2008 release.

Luna Longbottom (it's just right)

I would have prefered “desperate and fearful” for her role in HBP.

People, read the freakin’ article, and get your facts straight before you complain- you’ll sound more intelligent. :)

Anyway, I’m eager to see how Helen does with Narcissa, she is a very talented actress and I hope she has good chemistry with HBC. :D

I’m sure that she’ll be great. I don’t think that she is supposed to look like a Barbie, and it’s her acting that matters more to me. I think that she is a wonderful choice, she just doesn’t look like I imagined Narcissa.

Has anyone heard of hair dye? I hear it changes the color of someone’s hair….... I guess it must be new…...

Or wigs. They’re quite handy as well, if an actor doesn’t have the exact color of hair as described in the book.

But oh no, Helen McCrory has brown hair, and nothing will ever help it, and the world is coming to an end because of it.

Sorry, I’m feeling impatient with all of this whining tonight. Guess I should take my grumpy self off to bed.

strange, it looks like a lot of comments were erased from here.

Saria: “Or wigs. They’re quite handy as well, if an actor doesn’t have the exact color of hair as described in the book.”

Yes!

Newsflash: Jason Isaacs does not have long, platinum-blond hair. Natalia Tena’s hair isn’t purple. Alan Rickman, unlike Snape, has sandy-blond hair—and hazel eyes!

They’ve got WIGS, kittens. For real. And colored contacts. And makeup.

Helen McCrory’s more than up to the task of playing Narcissa. And the hair, makeup, and wardrobe folks are up to the task of making her look the part, too.

@djm19

It’s because a lot of those comments had links to, or were discussing, images from the film that we’re not supposed to know about yet.

I wasn’t so much in the loop for any of the other movies, but were there this many unauthorized images and set reports getting out for those films as well? Or have there been an unusually high number of leaks for the HBP film?

Not that I expect to get an answer. My comment, along with djm19’s, will probably be deleted quickly. Sigh.

Helena is perfect as Bellatrix, she’s absolutely Bella to the core! Helen, like most people here, I had imagined Narcissa as a bit different, but let’s just see how the make-up people do their job. I’m reserving my judgement till the movie comes out!

So looking forward to Helen as Cissy! I love unorthadox casting!

I’m still sad that she was unable to play Bellatrix… she really was my exact image of the character. When they first announced her casting as Bellatrix (before she knew she was pregnant) I was so excited because I thought they couldn’t have found anyone more perfect for the role.

Why are people taking what Helen has said (wicked and witchy) so literally? I took it to mean just a jokey remark about playing a witch, not about Narcissa’s character in the film itself. I’m sure that Narcissa will be as upset and determined to save her son in the film as she was in the book.

As to those that are saying they don’t think that Helen can play the part, I doubt many of you have even seen her preformances in other productions, she is a very good actress, and I’m sure that the production team will make her look the part. I can’t wait for Helen to play off Alan Rickman and Helena Bonham Carter in the Unbreakable Vow scene!
