As readers will recall, last month we told you that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows would be made in two films, with the LA Times stating the first of the films was due out in November of 2010. Thanks to Coming Soon who let us know they can now report an exact date for the release of the first of these films: November 19, 2010.UPDATE: This date has also been officially confirmed to us by Warner Bros. While no date for the second of the “Deathly Hallows” films is yet available, the LA Times previously stated May, 2011, and in their official press release, WB said to look for the film in Summer, 2011.

A reminder that both Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows films will be directed by David Yates, with Steve Kloves as screenwriter , David Heyman producing, and will star Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson among others.

Thanks to Coming Soon and WB!

Finally a release date! Wow, I don’t think we’ve ever had to wait 2 years in between a Potter film, but I’m sure the extra time taken to make the final films will be worth it!

A 2 year wait is almost impossible.

One year, six months, 23 days…. can’t count today, or the release date, in the count down….

And only six months, 25 days until HBP….

Fantastic! But that is going to be a really impatient 2 year gap!

I’m glad there’s going to be a 2 year gap. I want it to go on for as long as possible. I’m going to cry so bad when the last film comes out. :[

From the length of time between the release dates, it’s clear WB isn’t treating it as a two-part film…they’re treating it as two separate movies.

I predict that sales of the Part One DVD will be the highest of any DVD in the series, because what will everyone want to do the day before they see Part Two at the theater? Watch the Part One DVD, of course!

@budb-we have to wait 2 years and 6 months! not 1 year LOL. well I guess they’ll film both parts in these 2 years. and in the break between part 1 and 2 relase they’ll be probably still working on part 2. I can wait that long…but it better be good!

And what are we supposed to be doing during 2009??

They should release them closer together. If I were in charge, I’d release them no more than eight months apart.

Hey Mogaine….well the Harry Potter theme park is supposed to open late 2009, but if that isnt your scene then hmmm oh yes-I personally recommend LEAKY CON in 09, which Im kinda thinking is going to be a very cool and fun thing..just saying… ;- ))))

I think this DOES actually indicate that they are treating it as a 2-part film, not two separate movies. The length of time between now and the release of Part 1 suggests that they are going to film both movies back-to-back, putting the finishing touches on Part 2 in the six months after Part 1 comes out. If they were really treating it as two separate movies, they’d do Part 1, release and promote it, then start Part 2. There’d be a lot more than a six-month gap between the two.

I definitely agree with Anna. The 6 month gap will be to put the finishing touches on Part 2 (possible reshoots, SFX, editing, scoring and sound) after principal photography wraps on both.

Sue, is that a bit of self-promotion there?!? Just teasing ; ) It sounds like they still be filming come the middle of 2010. Are they starting next February? I hope they won’t have too long between both films. I’m conflicted about the prospect of buying Part 1 on dvd, then seeing Part 2 at the cinema, and waiting 6 months for that to come out on dvd. I might just wait for both films to be out on dvd to buy it.
