A new poster for the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince film has now surfaced online. Thanks to Coming Soon for letting us know that at the Cinema EXPO in Amsterdam, Warner Bros displayed a few official posters and promotional material, including this poster of the logo for the sixth Harry Potter film. It simply bears the title, with the year at the bottom of the poster, and does not contain any new images alas.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is due in theaters November 21, 2008

Thanks guys!

I can’t wait till the movie comes out. November seems so far away!

.< Hopefully we get a teaser trailer soon?

Avatar Image says:

Not That Interesting is it!?

Avatar Image says:

Very mysterious.

Avatar Image says:

Why?

Avatar Image says:

groans Teaser trailer soon, please, pretty please, Warner?

Avatar Image says:

Are you fg kidding me?

glares at the markerting team*

Avatar Image says:

I hope the trailer lives up to expectations at least! OotP teaser was a disaster!

Avatar Image says:

I’m kinda assuming that, whoever sent/alerted about this, spoke German. I went to the site, both through Yahoo, and here. I could not find the poster [that TLC has] in fact, I couldn’t find ANYTHING re: HBP. Oh, well. Trailer, please, WB. It’s harder to “hide”[ even in a foreign language!]

Avatar Image says:

Looking, to the right of this space, I noticed the ‘Leaky Poll’...well, it didn’t come out, in front of ‘Get Smart’...:[

Avatar Image says:

You know, this is getting lame and I am starting to lose interest. The movie better have some good reviews or I’ll probably just wait for the dvd.

Avatar Image says:

Really? They thought we’d like to see the logo? A logo that is exactly the same as the previous ones? Yawn. Give us the trailer!!!! Please!!! Can’t believe its out in 5 months time, and no sniff of a teaser trailer!

Avatar Image says:

Hmm. Well this isn’t completely out of the ordinary. We usually do see the official logo before anything (obviously). I just find the timing very strange. I still think we’ll see the trailer before Dark Knight, but I am surprised we haven’t had any official news yet, considering other trailers coming before that film have been announced. Could they be waiting for Comic Con? But wouldn’t we have heard something if that was the case?

Avatar Image says:

oh this is driving me insane!!! Usually once the six months to go mark hits, things start to pop up a bit more. It’s frustrating that all we’ve had is a couple of little pics and most of it not from WB. I mean I know they’re on the promotional trail for Batman and that’s all great but still, even a mention to where the trailer will be would be nice… They’ve got a pot of gold with the Harry Potter movies, and we’re it….

shrugs I guess though us wanting the trailer or anything else for that matter still won’t get us what we want.

Avatar Image says:

What? Is that it?? Aw come on! You can do better than that!

Avatar Image says:

haha…logo…great…what about the poster, and bloody trailer? its end of June! and only 149 days left!

Avatar Image says:

I’m with Mollywobble, it’ll be in front of Dark Knight. I can’t believe they’re gonna wait that long to give us a teaser, I mean if this is for HBP… just THINK how secretive they’re goin to be come DH part I and II time!

Avatar Image says:

No trailer…:-( Well, Dark Knight keeps some hope alive in me.

Avatar Image says:

darn..end of June and still no hbp pic?and what we get is a black image of a hbp teaser poster?wht abt the trailer?teaser?

Avatar Image says:

ABC Family is having a Harry Potter marathon. What a great time to present the trailer for the Half-Blood Prince! Keep your fingers crossed and we may finally get the long awaited trailer.

Avatar Image says:

I’m starting to lose all interest in this upcoming film. I’m usually a go to the premiere at Leicester Square, go to the first midnight showing kinda gal. But WB is faffing around so much with this next film that I doubt I’ll go to that kind of trouble this time around. Seems like they are getting to the point where they feel us hardcore fans will support no matter what so they’ll just be lax about putting teasers, pics, etc out there. And if they give a weak effort at getting us excited then I’ll reply by seeing the film on a random day and only once.

~a super fan, who’d wish WB would give some respect to all the repetitive paying fans by giving us something to be excited about xx

Avatar Image says:

I would laugh if that is the ACTUAL teaser poster! Lazy WB! And I thought the GoF(grammar error making NO SENSE) and OoTP(awkward Voldemort) were pretty bad!

Avatar Image says:

yeah this is getting ridiculus…of course I´ll still be excited to see it, but I´m kinda starting to worry about the quality of this movie or whatever…it just makes me wonder…what the hell is taking so long??? I guess we all don´t want lots of videos like we had for order, but we´re talking about a SIMPLE TRAILER!

I completely agree with you! WB is starting to take us for granted and I’m getting really fed up.

Avatar Image says:

sorry about the double post, and also, I´m worried that it won´t come out even in front of Batman..well, of course, eventually it will come out, but I didn´t know a trailer could take so long, I mean, the point it´s to get everyone excited to see it, right? and from what I see, some people are loosing interest.

Avatar Image says:

I actually like the fact they haven’t revieled SO much…...they usually show so much of the film before it opens people complain about that ,this time it’s the opposite[lol!]go figure…......but I would love a trailer soon.:o)...i think before Dark Knight film will be the place it show

Avatar Image says:

I’m starting to think that we won’t get a teaser trailer… I mean I’ve been around in the fandom for donkey’s years and normally things are starting to buzz around now… and WB hasn’t even mentioned what’s doing… I think they are starting to take us for granted… I mean die hards like me will go at watch it 5 days in the first day alone (that all depends on the day and work/daughter’s school whatever but you get the point). I just hope we’ll get something interesting soon… even a little comment from WB reassuring us that HBP is indeed coming out this year. Will probably be after all the Batman stuff though.

Avatar Image says:

How LAME!

Avatar Image says:

Guys, remember, OotP was released less than a year ago. We’re used to waiting 2 years between each film, so, in that regard, it makes sense that the timing for the teaser is different than what it has been in the past.

If WB is smart, they will release a teaser in front of Dark Knight. Why? Because it’s their biggest film of the summer. If we don’t see anything in front of that film, WB will have made a HUGE mistake.

Avatar Image says:

oh come on guys… everyone who’s so fed up with the filmmakers, or throwing out ideas such as wb are taking the fans for granted… first of all, they know you’ll still go see the film, no matter how irritated you are now. secondly, have a little patience: they’re making a piece of art, right? and art doesn’t necessarily have to be made on your schedule… let the editors do their job. if you rush them you’ll just be on here in a few months complaining that you hated the film.

i’m with willow. i like the suspense. go read the book again! chillax! kick back a little!

Avatar Image says:

We’re used to waiting 2 years between each film,

Er … in what country? The space between the films is generally 18 months, not two years, and it was only one year between the first two.

The first teaser trailer for OotP came out before Happy Feet in November of 2006 – that was 8 months before the movie.

It is absolutely ridiculous that we’ve had NOTHING up to now and HBP is due in theaters in only five months. I’m another hard-core fan who is getting so frustrated as to be losing interest in the whole thing.

Avatar Image says:

actually… PS/SS was released nov 2001 CoS was released nov 2002 PoA was released June 2004 GoF was released Nov 2005 OotP was released July 2007 and HBP should be released Nov 2008 so really after Chamber all the movies have had roughly 18 months in between.

And I agree about them releasing the teaser in front of Batman… They’d be silly not to…

Avatar Image says:

hehe, what Melanie said…

Avatar Image says:

thisssssss isssssssssssss sssssssssssaaaaaaaaaaaddddddddd! (falls dead of BOREDOM because there is no REAL HPP stuff)

Avatar Image says:

I meant “HBP”-oops

Avatar Image says:

The trailer will either be released with Wall-E, Jouney to the center of the earth or the sisterhood of the traveling pants 2

Avatar Image says:

Okay Melanie, you’re right. But let’s consider something else. Yes, the OotP teaser came out 8 months before the films release. But, it also means that WB waited a full year between the release of GoF and the time the teaser was released. Look at the GoF teaser. It came out in May 2005, 11 months after the PoA release. Sure that itsn’t exactly a year, but it’s close.

So even though we’re only about 5 months away from the release of HBP, if WB was to release the teaser in July they still be following the one-year timeline. So lets not sit here and assume WB hates us just because we didn’t get the trailer back in May.

Avatar Image says:

I kind of enjoy the poster….it’s dark, mysterious…..almost, shall I say, cave-like????

and I like that they aren’t releasing stuff….makes my anticipation grow even more because I’m not spoiled by “teaser” stuff.

Avatar Image says:

Oh, and we waited 20 months between GoF and OotP. This wait is only 16 months, so yes the timeline is different.

Trouble Maker, if WB is going for a PG 13 rating again, it would be absolutely ridiculous to put the trailer in front of kids movie. If you didn’t do it for speed racer, why do it for Traveling Pants 2?

Avatar Image says:

Hmm, not giving a lot away, is it? :)

Avatar Image says:

This is freaking ridiculous.

Avatar Image says:

good news and all but is WB trying to kill us????! i’m about to die from tralier depression!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

Need gasp a better … freaking … poster than that! Ugh. I’m like …. going ILL! I need something more than this :( I think we all could have predicted that the Logo Poster would look like that.

Avatar Image says:

When is a Trailer coming out ???

Avatar Image says:

This new layout is delightful and so much easier to navigate when linking from RSS Feeders!

Avatar Image says:

of course the movie’s gonna be great i hope it’s longer than OOTP and POA Goblet of Fire was pretty long anyways, WHAT??? the trailer and poster should be out look at ootp! it came out in July but the trailer came out in like JANUARY!!! LOOK at Twilight it’s coming out a month later but they released the trailer AND the website!!!

Avatar Image says:

I still have high hopes that the teaser-trailer will be in front of “The Dark Night” (which I was already planning on seeing, and if the teaser is before it, it will be an added bonus), but I cannot believe how long WB has taken to give us the trailer! The last teaser-trailer was before “Happy Feet”, which was nine months before the film release of “Order of the Phoenix”. Well, now it’s five months to the movie, and still no teaser-trailer? There have hardly been any pictures, and honestly, I am not interested in seeing the trio in the common room. I can understand if they don’t want to over-promote, like they did with “Goblet of Fire”, but this is ridiculous. If WB is smart, they will use the popularity of Batman to promote Harry Potter (c’mon, WB, seize the opportunity – they’re both box-office hits and have large fan bases!), and have the teaser in front of it. If not, I really doubt we’re getting one.

Avatar Image says:

Come on people, get over it. I personally got my little shiver when I saw the poster. And I am sooooo looking forward to the movie, I’ll take any little “tease” WB gives us. Why shouldn’t they tease us in this way? It’s all marketing…they know they’re dangling the carrot in front of us little rabbits and we just want more, more, more. Just enjoy the feeling that HBP is actually on the horizon…enjoy the anticipation instead of complaining. Also, I really don’t think the trailer will be during the marathon on ABC…movie trailers are at the theatre, not on TV. One thing I don’t understand about some of you “fans”: why does waiting for the film and its treasers/trailers make you lose interest in the film? I don’t see that as being very “fan”-like at all.

Avatar Image says:

GREAT! just an other reson for me to be mad at WB

Avatar Image says:

Ummm, I think they forgot the main objects, dont you…..Harry, Snape, Draco and Dumbledore! I bet a bunch of you savy artists out there can make a better poster. Melissa, Sue, start a contest for best HBP poster!

Avatar Image says:

Carmen, I think I can speak for all of us, just because we didnt like the poster doesnt mean we arnt looking foward to the movie. If we wernt, why would we be here on this site? What does exite me is, despite the horrible poster, or lack there of, we are getting closer and closer to trailer and photos!!! SQUEEEEE!

Avatar Image says:

Kerri, I address my “fan” comment to those who earlier stated that this waiting and teasing was making them lose interest in the film. We are all fans so I just don’t understand why some people get frustrated to the point of saying that it is making them lose interest. I, personally, get giddy at any little news tidbit and teaser, etc. that comes out, however small it is.

Avatar Image says:

Had to get past all the Dutch to find it :) hmm. Kind of underwhelming. Can’t wait for the previews/trailers.

Avatar Image says:

I think it’s understandable that fans are frustrated. It’s not as if WB told us when the teaser will be released. Impatience of a release date and impatience of silence, not knowing how long to wait is very different. We’ve waited four months extra than usual for the teaser-trailer, and no – it’s not the end of the world, nor is it the most important thing to be worried about, I will say – but I can see how it can be a disappointment for the Harry Potter fandom. Except for NECA collectables, video game info, and a handful of (some repetitive) low-quality pictures from the movie, we haven’t had any real news or updates regarding the film. I think it’s fair to say we’ve been patient long enough, and I’m not going to get ecstatic over the few crumbs we’ve been given from the WB table. I just don’t see why they couldn’t have at least told us when to expect the teaser-trailer. I don’t think that’s unreasonable. Though however much longer we will have to wait for the teaser, or even there won’t be one, it certainly won’t change my excitement for the film. I think that goes without saying.

Avatar Image says:

Carmen,

thank you! thank you, thank you! spot on. i’m glad someone out there agrees with me.

Avatar Image says:

I was going to ramble on here my disappointment, but I think Chelsea summed it up nicely. Well done.

Avatar Image says:

I totally agree with wanting more and dying with anticipation and all that great feeling that comes with an HP movie/book release. But just don’t let the lack of “big” info take that good feeling away. Just enjoy all of it, whatever it is and of whatever importance it is. And yes, however pathetic it may sound, I do get all “ecstatic over the few crumbs” WB is giving us…I LOVE the feeling of anticipation. It’s all positive. It’s all good. What’s the use of getting angry about it. Hi Steve :-)

Avatar Image says:

What the hell? That is it, no pictures or anything on it, is WB trying to kill us? Really they are going to have an angry mob of fans breaking into their offices if they don’t release it soon. Look out for the news people.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR angry typing

Avatar Image says:

How… disapointing…

Avatar Image says:

thanx WB that real nice of you….. show us a picture that dosent help us at all and not give us a trailor to watch. your making every body angry i hope your happy when you have a mob outsite your door, like marian said.

Avatar Image says:

They’re taking the mick, now.

Avatar Image says:

Oh I get it. This poster is actually a hi-res photo of what Harry sees when he closes his eyes. How existential. They’re really giving us the inside dirt now.

Oh and don’t forget, this poster also includes… (drum roll)... a font.

Avatar Image says:

LOL Mr. Moustache! =D

Avatar Image says:

Haha Mr. Moustache. Well, there’s one good thing about this “logo poster”- the hilarious comments. XD

Avatar Image says:

Ok, this is honestly pathetic. Have WB decided that since the books are done there’s no need to hype up HP movies? For goodness sake, the Twilight trailer came out AGES ago, and it’s release is in December! When this point hit for OotP, we already had trailers, not to mention a zillion photos (I don’t think my Photoshop was closed for more than a week in all of the first half of 2007). What have we got now? A half-dozen photos, and an extremely exciting logo.

Avatar Image says:

Drab, gray…Is this real? Very uninteresting.

Avatar Image says:

WTF!!!!

Avatar Image says:

I’m all for a trailer and loads of posters etc. But I’d much rather wait for a really good quality marketing campaign then be bogged down with a load of crap. There are some trailers out there that aren’t that great and I find that WB does a pretty good job.

Considering that they are both WB productions and everyone is anticipating this movie so greatly I think the Dark Knight is a good candidate for the trailer. It would be five months from the premiere of HBP and the two films (both of which are sequels/part of a series and actually both are 6th of a series (Dark Knight is the 6th Batman movie)) would be the best film to put it in front of. It’s already going to get a high volume of individuals going to see it just to see it and then once people find out that HBP is in front of it? Loads more would go.

I’m itching for a trailer but considering they just finished production last month and more likely than not had to go back for reshoots PLUS are still working on effects and editing right now? Doesn’t surprise me that we don’t have one.

Expect one soon but patience, it is a virtue. Plus it will make it all that much sweeter when it comes.

Avatar Image says:

Someone posted this on an IMDB message board:

“Thanks a lot WB! I didn’t know this movie had a title!”

Avatar Image says:

This could mean that the teaser trailer could be out at the end of this month or next month. Keep fingers crossed.

Avatar Image says:

I may be naive, and all, or maybe it’s wishful thinking on my part….does anyone get the feeling that there may be more, to this “poster”, than meets the eye? It occurs to me that it might herald a type of “clouded” picture…perhaps, with subsequent Posters, the images become more defined…still foggy, but more recognizable as “something”. Just a hunch….it seems very odd. Just “the logo” isn’t the usual “form”, even for WB [with the possible exception of the ‘Batman’ films]. Teaser/trailer, please!

Avatar Image says:

HOORAY, becket! Cooler heads always prevail. Thank you for putting up what needs to be remembered! “Once begun, is half done!” “Good things come to those who wait!” And, of course, “Patience is a Virtue!”

Avatar Image says:

I’m with hermy. As a die-hard fan nothing could cause me to lose interest as some have said, but lose my patience? Yes, its getting beyond frustrating. I really don’t want too much. I don’t want the film spoiled by too many clips and stuff too soon like with OOTP, but some more better photos and at least when we can expect to see the teaser/trailer would be nice. I don’t think that’s much to ask especially considering all of the time, energy, and money we as fans have put into the franchise. I think its like alot of people are saying, by now WB knows HP fans will go see these last three films no matter how irritated WB makes us leading up to them.

Avatar Image says:

Wow. that was a whole lot of nothing :( We need a teaser! we cannot be tourtured for much longer!

Avatar Image says:

I have to agree with Confederate on this. If you look at it real closely you can see what appears to be lights. They could be street lights or something. And you can also see a dark shadow where the name harry is. It kind of looks like Voldemorte or something, but I know he’s not in the film so it could be a death eater or something. Good point Confederate. And the lights it looks like it is either Spinner’s End or Private Drive. Anyone agrees with me and Confederate just say so.

Avatar Image says:

13 long seconds i waited for the poster to come up and i must confess myself… . . DISAPPOINTED!

wendell

Avatar Image says:

I think the lights on the logo poster are just a reflection from the lights in the room where the photo of the poster was taken. I’d maybe think otherwise if this was a digital copy of the poster design, but since it is a picture, I’m pretty sure it’s just light reflection.

Hey, maybe if we print it out, we can make a Harry Potter logo paper airplane with it! Or origami thestrals and hippogriffs, that’d be fun…And I’ve always wanted to make a Death Eater paper doll…

Avatar Image says:

You know, I think WB is just relying on the popularity of HP now for this movie to do well in the box office. But I honestly don’t think it will do as well as OOTP because there is no hype for anything about this movie. Twilight, a series I have grown to just not really like anymore because I don’t think it should be made into films, is getting more promotion and it is not nearly as classic as HP . WB should be starting the hype by trailers or at LEAST promotional/teaser posters right now.

Avatar Image says:

Seriously, the fake-fan posters were better than this. That’s disappointing … =/

Avatar Image says:

Know what? The teaser’s gonna come, and it’s gonna be a slow crane shot of hogwarts with the dark mark over it, and some lines of dialogue, and then nothing… We won’t see a real trailer for the movie until September… And this poster proves it.

Avatar Image says:

Alright, If for some reason it doesn’t show in front of Dark Knight, I assure you it would most likley come about on WB’s new Star Wars Movie. August 15th! Noo! Please be Dark Knight.

Avatar Image says:

hehe

i love the power that the advertising team has.. they dont even need to put picz on hp posters to get people to get interested. and by giving no pics it makes people more impatient and more wanting to see the movie…

ahh i love it

genious.

Avatar Image says:

Wow. Well. isn’t that quite an exciting poster?

Seriously, if WB doesn't start advertising soon then only the hardcore HP fans will even know that a movie is coming out!
Avatar Image says:

where can i see that frukin teaser trailer i looked on youtube and all i saw was the idiotic fan trailers people stop getting my hopes up every time i click on your trailer!!!!! can someone please put a link for the real one?

Avatar Image says:

Man come on ! they just need to bust out with the trailer it has taken too long ! what the movie is like 5 months away and nothing! But then again all this secrecy is good for the movie , I just hope they don’t bring the tension to boiling point. Psssstt…. imaginge how it’’s going to be for deathly hallows !

Avatar Image says:

I kinda feel like they are just giving ppl more of a reason to see Twilight! It’s been months and months and there is just nothing! unlike Twilight which has picks and trailers (and robert pattinson!). I wish they would stop screwing with us and just please give us something, I dont think a couple more pics would mess up the whole film. I probably seem really inpatient (because I am!!!) but I am just at the end of my rope with WB!!!!

Avatar Image says:

At first I thought this was the actual movie poster….... ugh. WHERE IS THE TRAILER????

Avatar Image says:

This is just the same logo that is always at the beginning of every HP film. The only difference is that it says “Half Blood Prince”. WB can’t seriously expect that we’d go crazy over this.

Avatar Image says:

Is that all?!? i could have done that poster, i was expecting something which showed the actors.

i feel deeply disappointed.

Avatar Image says:

At least it’ll only be three weeks now until we know if the teaser-trailer will be in front of “The Dark Knight”. I really don’t see it being in front of any other film…
