A new poster for the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince film has now surfaced online. Thanks to Coming Soon for letting us know that at the Cinema EXPOin Amsterdam, Warner Bros displayed a few official posters and promotional material, including this poster of the logo for the sixth Harry Potter film. It simply bears the title, with the year at the bottom of the poster, and does not contain any new images alas.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is due in theaters November 21, 2008
Oh I get it. This poster is actually a hi-res photo of what Harry sees when he closes his eyes. How existential. They’re really giving us the inside dirt now.
Oh and don’t forget, this poster also includes… (drum roll)... a font.
Ok, this is honestly pathetic. Have WB decided that since the books are done there’s no need to hype up HP movies? For goodness sake, the Twilight trailer came out AGES ago, and it’s release is in December! When this point hit for OotP, we already had trailers, not to mention a zillion photos (I don’t think my Photoshop was closed for more than a week in all of the first half of 2007). What have we got now? A half-dozen photos, and an extremely exciting logo.
I’m all for a trailer and loads of posters etc. But I’d much rather wait for a really good quality marketing campaign then be bogged down with a load of crap. There are some trailers out there that aren’t that great and I find that WB does a pretty good job.
Considering that they are both WB productions and everyone is anticipating this movie so greatly I think the Dark Knight is a good candidate for the trailer. It would be five months from the premiere of HBP and the two films (both of which are sequels/part of a series and actually both are 6th of a series (Dark Knight is the 6th Batman movie)) would be the best film to put it in front of. It’s already going to get a high volume of individuals going to see it just to see it and then once people find out that HBP is in front of it? Loads more would go.
I’m itching for a trailer but considering they just finished production last month and more likely than not had to go back for reshoots PLUS are still working on effects and editing right now? Doesn’t surprise me that we don’t have one.
Expect one soon but patience, it is a virtue. Plus it will make it all that much sweeter when it comes.
I may be naive, and all, or maybe it’s wishful thinking on my part….does anyone get the feeling that there may be more, to this “poster”, than meets the eye?
It occurs to me that it might herald a type of “clouded” picture…perhaps, with subsequent Posters, the images become more defined…still foggy, but more recognizable as “something”. Just a hunch….it seems very odd. Just “the logo” isn’t the usual “form”, even for WB [with the possible exception of the ‘Batman’ films]. Teaser/trailer, please!
HOORAY, becket! Cooler heads always prevail. Thank you for putting up what needs to be remembered! “Once begun, is half done!” “Good things come to those who wait!” And, of course, “Patience is a Virtue!”
I’m with hermy. As a die-hard fan nothing could cause me to lose interest as some have said, but lose my patience? Yes, its getting beyond frustrating. I really don’t want too much. I don’t want the film spoiled by too many clips and stuff too soon like with OOTP, but some more better photos and at least when we can expect to see the teaser/trailer would be nice. I don’t think that’s much to ask especially considering all of the time, energy, and money we as fans have put into the franchise. I think its like alot of people are saying, by now WB knows HP fans will go see these last three films no matter how irritated WB makes us leading up to them.
I have to agree with Confederate on this. If you look at it real closely you can see what appears to be lights. They could be street lights or something. And you can also see a dark shadow where the name harry is. It kind of looks like Voldemorte or something, but I know he’s not in the film so it could be a death eater or something. Good point Confederate. And the lights it looks like it is either Spinner’s End or Private Drive. Anyone agrees with me and Confederate just say so.
