"Twilight" Film Moves Into "Half-Blood Prince" Release Date

A number of media outlets are tonight reporting that after the recent announcement by Warner Bros. that the sixth film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, would be pushed back to a July 17, 2009 theatrical release, a decision was made by Summit Entertainment to move the release date for the upcoming “Twilight” film up to the now vacated date of November 21, 2008. The BBC has a report online which notes the recent ‘frenzy’ that was caused during the publication of the forth and final book in the series as one of the factors in this decision. News of this move for “Twilight,” which stars Harry Potter actor Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory), also made it over to MTV which quotes Rob Friedman from Summit Entertainment as saying they saw “a unique opportunity to slot in our film, which has been gaining tremendous awareness and momentum over the past several months.”

“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” will now have its release on July 17, 2009.

Well, it figures, doesn’t it? WB makes me so mad!! Why, why, why postpone it until next year. It makes no sense. I guess I will be spending my holiday movie buck on Twilight this year.

Seems like their trying to get whatever good press they can after the fiasco that was Breaking Dawn. While it is doing well selling, way too many fans are upset with how things have turned out and obviously they want to nab whatever attention they can to make the movie get good headlines. Oh well at least this lets me see the acting chops Rob Pattinson has and if he’ll break out as a leading man.

i hate WB

I HATE WB FOR WHAT THEY DID. IM DOING THE RED HOWLER CAMPAIGNE WHERE THE FANS WHO FEEL BETRAYED SENT IN RED ENVELOPED LETTERS TO THE WARNER BROTHERS OFFICE. THEY CANNOT IGNORE US.

BTW. TWILIGHT WILL NEVER BE AS GOOD AS HARRY POTTER. IM JUST UTTERLY DISGUSTED BY WARNER BROTHERS.

Twilight=awesome Harry Potter=more awesome.

However Summit surpasses Warner Bros in treating their fans the right way.

& who cares if the twilight series aren’t the most amazingly written books in the whole world? Its a good story. Enough Twilight hate. Its not trying to replace Harry Potter but it sure is setting an example for WB.

Yep, HP is a million times better than Twilight , but then as this move shows, they know how to treat their fans. They move it UP at the last minute, not back. Twilight for that rssaon alone deserves to be a hit

WTH how can twilight EVER compete with Harry Potter. I hold nothing against twilight fans but this hold shifting of dates is clearly just a play to get more money. WB is a vile organization that does not care a tee bit about the fans like us.

Let’s face it!! The only reason WB is changing the date to HP is because Batman did so well in the Box Office. They wouldn’t want to have two big hits in one year. They probably have some low movies next year and HP will boost WB up. Most of my family and friends are saying the same thing. I think it’s low down and dirty to paying fans. As for Twilight, I am not really too interested in it.

twilight was NEVER competion for Potter. potter grossed over $900 million for OotP and Twilight isnt expected to gross over $100 million. Potter moved because WB knows they can make more money with a summer blockbuster then with a Nov. release. Summit saw the open slot and thought “well, why not. it’ll be ready by then”. if the same thing happened vice versa, none of us would be mad.

I have waiting for months for this movie to come out!!! They can not expect me to wait until I’m a ninth grader to show it!! This is just wrong, they made the worst mistake ever doing this. There is going to be an uproar among the Harry Potter fans, they are going to be dumping a lot of hate mail for this.

So basically WB says Harry Potter won’t do good on Nov 21st. But Twilight is going to take its spot, and the millions of people that go see that would have went to see HBP…wth WB? I definitely do not plan on going to see Twilight now. Maybe I’ll attend it in Ravenclaw robes… :P

I can’t believe this! I like Twilight as much as the next person but Harry Potter is ten times better. Everything was perfect until they all went and messed it up. If they don’t change it I’m thinking about boycotting the movie in July. They are moving the movie to make mor e money right? So if they think alot of fans aren’t going to go and they will lose money they will change it back right?
