St. Martin-in-the-Fields, a church currently undergoing a more-than $70-million project to restore the London landmark; to help raise funds, several important British figures, including J.K. Rowling and Stephen Fry, have donated panes of glass that they have decorated themselves. J.K. Rowling’s, which is signed and decorated with a snitch, may be seen in hi-res in our gallery here.
The church is hosting a contest, the “Give Light” competition; each entry is £10. You may choose to enter for J.K. Rowling’s signed plate. Do so by going to this link. The contest ends on August 31.
This is an interesting story. I’m sure that lots of people will enter to win these panes, not only the one by JKR but also those by the other well-known people, so that should really help to raise money.
Good luck to everyone who is entering!
You are so right, who on earth is going to bid for Gordon Brown’s pane?- it’s as boring as a flobber worm!
Sheila Hancock’s was very touching.
For those who don’t know, St Martin’s does some wonderful charitable work with the homeless in London – this is a charity well worth supporting even if you don’t win one of the panes.
st martin in the fields, a great name in music, worthy of support. as for the artwork: jkr, as great as picasso, as famous as balzac.
Wow, I really liked some of them, though, of course, Jo’s is, by far the best and the most creative! I love how she keeps helping and contributing to charities, she’s just a wonderful wonderful lady!
