Note to WB: to discourage movie pirates, release the movie in Australia a lot sooner than almost a month later!!!

I guess it’s better than the original date for OotP which was 3 months after the entire world!!!

But I still hate WB… how on earth are we supposed to avoid being ‘spoiled’???

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

I was waiting this post to sulk publicly about the Australia release day. 11 December?! Whose bright idea was this! Grumble grumble.

“I’m sorry, but the whole argument about timing the release with the start of the summer holidays doesn’t fly with me. The devoted school-age fans will watch it on release weekend anyway, the casual school-age moviegoers will watch it when the holidays start, and everyone else will watch it in the intervening two weeks. What is the big deal?”

But it’s not about the people who go once, it’s about the people who go multiple times, mainly teenagers during the holidays. If you release it in November, it will be four weeks into it’s run until they can take advantage of multiple weekday viewings, and you just don’t get people giving it that sort of boost at that point in a run these days. HP Films are extremely frontloaded. It’s a well know fact with those who monitor these things for a living, they are paid to maximise profit where they can.

Look, I realise that people just want to see the film, they aren’t interested in the commercial reasons these decisions are made but that is what it is. I want to see this film as early as I can as much as the next person, but I am old enough to realise that jumping up and down and complaining about something that is completely out of my control is a waste of my energy that could be better spent elsewhere.

whoo! I knew Israel will get the movie on nov 20! It’s fair because we always get the movies a week after because the releases in Israel is on thursday, so it’s or a week after or a day before. usually. But when I think about it, the ootp film was set to release on July 13th but at the end it has released on July 11th. Who knows, maybe it will happen again.

The only reason i can forsee tehm delaying a movie for releaqse in Australia for the stars is if it was a full cast…and it can’t be becuase dan will be doing equus…I can see him taking a night or two off for HBP premiere in london maybe…but not the time for aus as well…(don’t start on the whole rupert/emma being important too…it’s jsut a whole cast would be needed and those two wouldn’t suffice delaying it so much)

So i don’t buy they’re delaying it for the stars…If i can find a god pirated version b4 release in aus i would take that…i know it’s not the same as the cinema but hell i don’t wanna wait that long!

The school holidays thing could work but that is a really really long time to wait just for a little bit of extra money when the most you’ll get is from the hardcore fans who will go a million times and they are the one’s you’ll disappoint…there are still weekends and the first weekend is initially the msot important anyway.

The best reason is probably the thing about WB not wanting too mnay movies at once…which is horrible and weak and i hate it!
