A host of international release dates for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” have now been posted on the official Harry Potter website. At this point several countries are scheduled to see the film several days before the US/UK release set for November 21, 2008. To see the entire list, click here.
I live in the U.S, so i get to see it on the 21st like most people. But why does Austraila have to wait so much longer??? this doesn’t seem very fair….. why can’t they have a worldwide release?? = [
this is so wierd!!!!!!! random countries like belgium get it before britain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and america!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes! we Belgians get it on the 19th! The reason why we get it 2 days earlier is becuz here the movies always premiere on wednesdays. So we either get it 2 days earlier or a week later. Luckily with HBP we get it sooner :D
Grr… Poor turkey 19th December. And Korea and Hong Kong, 18th of December. Grr Hong Kong is only like 2 hours flight from Taiwan and they get in on the 22nd of November… Great… I probably can’t use the internet till then because there would be spoilers everywhere…. At least it’s the day after my birthday.
Umm I really don’t think the relative release dates of HBP and other blockbusters will influence profits by that much. The target audiences for these films seems worlds apart.
I wonder what other excuses the distributors have for a 3 week delay. Harry Potter’s huge everywhere. I guess technology these days is just that primitive, traversing an ocean is a 3 week feat.
welll in Venezuela is going to be on november 28… last year was the same day that in usa but welll at least i dont have to wait til december…lucky me!!!!!
Gillyweed, I by no means intend for this to be an aggressive response, I’m just interested to hear your opinion and perhaps see if you could explain some things for me-
Why is Australia being singled out to wait for school holidays? Every other major English speaking country (and for that matter, many non-English speaking countries that have to have the film dubbed) are getting it at the same/similar time why then should Australia have to wait for the holidays when many of these other countries are also not on holidays? Clearly, if it can do well in other countries during a non-holiday period, then it could be successful here as well and makes it irrelevant to delay it by three weeks. Pinpointing weekday viewings as the sole reason why The WB are holding the film over for three weeks seems like reaching at straws. Again, if every other major country aren’t relying on weekday viewings during a non-holiday period, why then should Australia? Commercially, if anything, they are doing themselves a favour as they will see a spike in profits when the holiday periods start. Likewise, the film will do big number, regardless of when its released, people will pay to see it. But, rather than annoy the fans and delay the film, they should just release it the same time as everywhere else. Australia has a huge Harry Potter following; I just see no need for us to be the one major country to wait for it…
I also don’t think signing a petition is a complete waste of energy; it takes a minute and can make all the difference.
"I used to be there," said Sirius, pointing at a small, round, charred hole in the tapestry, rather like a cigarette burn. "My sweet old mother blasted me off after I ran away from home -- Kreacher's quite fond of muttering the story under his breath."
YooHoo! We’re getting it 2 days earlier in Egypt! :D We got it 2 months late for OotP! :(
And for the one asking why 19 for Egypt, cause our day of the week for changing films, is Wednesday instead of Friday for you :)
