Well, WB might have delayed the release of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” until July of next year, but the promised test screenings of the movie are taking place this month as announced previously by director David Yates. Tonight, one such test screening was held in Chicago and there is a thread ongoing in our forum that contains a report of the film, including a description on the Harry Ginny kiss, Slughorn and more. CAUTION MAJOR SPOILER ALERT at this link. We hope to have more on this shortly and will update here as soon as we can.
SPOILER!!! SPOILER !!!!, don’t read if you haven’t read the report on movie.
How in the world could they cut the funeral of Dumbledore, i’m quite surprised by this news. You all should be more concern over this than the kiss between harry and ginny. I’m in a state of shock that they cut the funeral scene. This must be some kind of joke. I’m not a huge fan of the series but at least i thought such a scene was quite important in the book.
Guys, I don’t think Melissa has that kind of power and I doubt she would even try to do it.
Also, I still believe that we shouldn’t judge a movie without seeing it. Sure some people have seen it and given reports, but if I want make my own mind up about a movie, I’d go see it. In fact, we should be happy that Michael Gambon will be promising since the majority of HP fans don’t like him.
Remember, the movies are one’s interpretation of the books.
man, i really REALLY hope some of the stuff shes talking about is NOT in the final cut of the movie. the harry/ginny kiss sounds AWEFUL!!! how could they do that?? there was a REASON the H/G kiss happened how and when it did. grrrrrrrrrr.
So let me get this straight. They cut the funeral but added a burrow scene. How stupid is that? Hope they didn’t butcher the love triangle much. And I didn’t expect much with H/G since Ginny is virtually nonexistant in DH. Why spend the time on that when other things are more important. I wanna know about the dark scenes like the cave stuff. That’s more important than anything.
Ever since OOTP came out I have lost hope that any of the movies will be as good as the books. I was generally pleased with GOF mostly because I thought the graveyard scene was awesome. But Phoenix just disappointed me on so many levels.
I bought my wife a T-Shirt that says “NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY IT’S MOVIE” and so many people come up to her and tell her how much they like it that I get the idea that few people think that movies are better than books.
So dispite the risk of disappointment, I will still go the the movies, but really people, the most satisfying HP experience is reading the books. Don’t get so tangled up in hoping to see the books rendered faithfully on the screen. They will have a chance to do it right in the two DH movies, but since so many of the plot points were left out of the previous films it’s just going to be muddled.

Seriously, the H/G kiss is getting to me. They better be making out 24/7 after that scene! I’m not going to be happy with just a stupid peck that means nothing.
Over at IMDB there’s a few reports up about the ending.. it sounds really good, even without the funeral. The memory scenes sound great too, so I guess I’ll just have to wait to see the movie myself to judge the romance and all that.
For anyone who got to see the movie-did they make you fill out a questionnaire? I read that way back when in 1939 when the studio tested Gone with the Wind the test audiences input about the original ending got it changed to the great ending we have now.
I only ask because maybe if people put how much they hated the kiss it could get it reshot but I don’t think the studios listen to the fans much anymore anyway.
You know, I’m disappointed in the fandom right now. We all should have realized that there is no way that the movies will be as good as the books since the first movies. Just learn to separate the two entities.
Ah! I can’t believe I’ve been missing out on this!!!! And I had completely forgotten that there would be test screenings! Weird, though, to see the movie exclusively once, then not again for eleven months.
Oh, man, I don’t want everything to be spoiled. This is always so tricky.

hey i’ve got an idea, why don’t the wb use the delay time to RESHOOT the H/G kiss…everyone says is HORRIBLE. that’s something worth campaigning for.
