First Look: Set for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Under Construction at Pinewood Studios

Hang on everyone, as we have a bit of a treat for you today! With filming now underway on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, today we have word of a set being built for using in HP7. TLC reader John was on a tour of Pinewood Studios in London, England, and was shown a set under construction to be used for the final Harry Potter film. As seen here in our image galleries, this special set is a row of houses, being built in a thick grove of trees and there is a pond nearby in the garden area of Pinewood studios. Readers will recall of course, that the bulk of filming for the Harry Potter films is normally done at Leavesden Studios, and as stated here on this paper, this is a set being built special over at Pinewood special for HP7. We do not know what scene this set is for (The Forest Scene, Godric’s Hollow etc) as no details were provided to those on the tour.

Thanks ever so much John!

Avatar Imageabinar says: Awesome. It's ridiculous how excited I am for DH when HBP isn't even out yet.Avatar ImageMuggleQueen says: Omg new stuff yay! My first thought was it is probably Godrics Hollow, but it looks more like it could be Spinners End from the photos... idk. This has cheered me up though :DAvatar ImageMatea says: wow. idea..what could it be? Spinners end?hm... it doesn't look like Snapes doesn't look like Godric's hollow either. who knew?..but this is all so exciting!!!Avatar Imagecheeserpleaser says: It is just ridiculous that we are being overloaded with information about the production of the seventh and eighth films when the sixth has not been released yet! Regardless of what the set is for, it still looks fantastic!Avatar ImageAlorraSpinnet says: My first impression was Godric's Hollow. It just seems to have the right look. Avatar ImageAbby Lestrange says: I'm thinking Godric's Hollow? This is definitely quite exciting :)Avatar ImageIsabell says: Very intriguing - I'm thinking that it looks too clean for Spinner's End (or is it just because that part of the book took place in the night and in the book it sounded like a not too pretty place?). On the other hand, the Godric's Hollow chapter was also set at night, yes? Hmmm..... Avatar ImageShane says: Alright, this is awesome. I love filiming time.Avatar ImageGraymayne says: Spinners End is a mill town setting, with rows and rows of terraced worker's houses according to the book, nothing like this wooded setting. It might possibly be Godric's Hollow.Avatar ImagePureblood-Slytherin says: I'm also thinking Godric's Hollow... I'm getting excited, ahhhh!!!Avatar ImageFresh Prince says: I love it it looks greatAvatar ImageHudMug1712 says: i think it is either godrics hollow or possibly the Tonks residenceAvatar Imagekbicprez says: I agree with Graymayne. My impression from the book is that Spinner's End is on the "wrong side" of the tracks. Godric's Hollow seems more likely to me too. One thing is certain - it's not the burrow! LOL.Avatar ImageChrissyPuff says: yes! we are that much closer to getting the movie! I agree that its probably Godric's Hollow.Avatar ImageThe Niffler says: I'm betting it's Godrics Hollow. The houses have that old village like look.Avatar ImageLauraKeaton says: I think it might be Spinner's End. I hope it's not Godric's Hallow, simply because that isn't at all how I pictured the houses in my mind.Avatar Imagehpluver88 says: But wouldn't Spinners End have been in HBP? Hmmmm I have no clue what this set could be!Avatar ImageThe Niffler says: Also, Spinners End is supposed to be a street in an industrial town, not a village.Avatar Imagehannah abbot says: i think it looks like Godric's hollow, it seems to bright and pretty and homely for spinners end. it looks really good though :) Avatar Imagemugglemom4 says: I hope it's Godrics Hollow. It is so exciting getting to see some of the production pictures.Avatar Imagemollywobbles23 says: Looks like Godric's Hollow to me.Avatar Imagejohnhuk says: Hi all, I took the pics and have just had a look close-up at one of the others and they do look very much like the sort of thing you would see in an old village. Is it permitted to post a link here? If so I will do it!Avatar Imageanne1 says: Spinner's end should be more like a row of Victorian terraces like in the old mill towns in the north of England, going from the description in the books, dead end street, canal, factory etc, so I'd vote for this being Godric's Hollow.Avatar Imagebookmonster79 says: I can't stand when all this starts up...I just get so excited and knowing I have soo long to wait is killing me. But keep the news coming, I still love to hear about it.Avatar Imagekbicprez says: @hpluver88, GREAT POINT! Now that I think about it, I don't remember Spinner's End being in DH either.Avatar ImageSofiagw says: I think it's that cafe at Totehan Court Road.Avatar ImageAutumnWizard says: Cool! I hope there is more!Avatar Imagejohnhuk says: I would say not to that, knowing Tottenham Court Road! Anyone know about links...otherwise I'll just post and hope I'm not breaking the rules!Avatar Imageanne1 says: following on from my previous at 3.01, though I think it more likely to be GH than SE, I also agree with Laura Keaton, I imagined GH as being more like the setting they used for the village that is being used for Slughorn's? with the war memorial, and the cottage looking much smaller than this, a small two up, two down. Except that the Philosopher's Stone film showed a farmhouse as the setting, so I also thought they would stick with that for DH for consistency. So um.. I don't think it looks either SE or GH, but I would favour GH because SE would be so wrong looking like this. sorry to rambleAvatar Imageanne1 says: and definitely not Tottenham Court Road!! Avatar Imagejohnhuk says: Ok, Here is the link to a higher-res close up pic I took today Have a look now.Avatar ImageStefanM94 says: there is a strong likelyhood that it is Godrics Hollow but what about Shell Cottage? and also, Spinners End was in the 6th book so i highly doubt that they would include that in Deathly Hallows Avatar ImageSofiagw says: johnhuk You're right. I've just checked some pictures of Tottenham court road at Google images. So I don't know... Doesn't seem like Godric's Hollow to me.Avatar Imagekbicprez says: I'm one of that small group of Americans who loves soccer (football). I've watched the Tottenham Spurs play on TV and I thought Tottenham was in the middle of London. That picture doesn't look like a city street to me. Or do I need to learn more about London??Avatar Imagejohnhuk says: Tottenham is North London. Tottenham Court Road is a road that runs along the top of Oxford Street (Central London) up to Camden.Avatar ImageLemonySherbert says: Ooh, looking at sets is always fun... even though these are sort of far away. :P I guess it's most likely Godric's Hollow... I can't really think of any other "village scenes". Ahhh, can't wait for Deathly Hallows! :DAvatar Imageharrypotterbookpurist says: Wow I am so excited! My immediate reaction before reading other people's responses was Godric's Hollow and it looks almost exactly like I pictured Harry's parents house in Godric's Hollow. It is so exciting and I love all of the Harry Potter books the same, but after OOTP Deathly Hallows would be my 2nd favorite.Avatar ImageStefanM94 says: @ KB Prez: do u know another english/british football teams? :)Avatar Imagefirekeeper says: This is exciting and I agree it could be Godrics Hollow.Avatar ImageSorcererke says: It looks like this film (two parts XD) will definitely be a high quality film. Not that the other films weren't high quality but you can see that the houses have a special shape to bring the exact ambiance to the scene. I hope the directors and producers look at the making of the final film as a tribute to Harry Potter, that they'll do everything to end the series with a bang.Avatar ImageMcGiggles92 says: The part I most want to see is the Ravenclaw Common Room scene. Luna and McGonnagall ROCK the Carrows!!!!!!!!Avatar Imagehpluver88 says: Having looked more closely at the pictures (I was in class earlier haha), I think it might definitely be Godric's Hallow! It couldn't be Shell Cottage cause that's supposed to be an isolated house near a lake or something.Avatar ImageStefanM94 says: point taken, hpluver88 ;)Avatar ImageHermioneRon4ever says: Definatly seems like Godrics Hallow to me! So exciting! Can't wait to see this! Avatar ImageJS297206 says: Spinners end is in HBP, so this can't possibly be that, unless they created an entire new scene that occurs in there. But I do agree with some of the previous posters that this doesn't seem like the Godric's Hollow that JKR described. I didn't picture it as a row of town homes, but more spaced out suburbia kinda look. Definately not shell cottage - I thought that was kind of middle of no where. This could also an entirely new scene/ srea that was never in the books at all. Wouldn't be the first time they added something that was never in the books. The only other possibilities I can think of would be in Seven potters - Scene at Tonk's house, or perhap one of the other safe houses? - probably grasping at straws there.Avatar Imagevicky granger says: I bet it's Godric's Hollow. Oh, I can't wait for this movie ! Avatar Imagejohnhuk says: Its something remote, out in the country. There are lots of villages that still have those old world Tudor-like cottages, especially in the West Country. That would fit nicely with Godrics Hollow.Avatar Imageapril_showers says: Godric's Hollow? Luna's house? Tonk's parents? Bill and Fleur? !!!!Avatar Imagejohnhuk says: Well, Luna's house was quite distinctive in a rook wasn't it? Shell cottage was in a remote place... Tonks parents? I got the impression (but could be wrong) that it was still in the city?Avatar Imagehpluver88 says: @Olivia: I think the Lovegood's house would be a little more kooky looking that (at least, I hope!)Avatar Imagemaimiaa says: yeah it probably is Godrics Hollow.Avatar Imagekbicprez says: @StefanM94, we get to see some of the EPL games over here, but not a lot of them. I'm mostly familiar with ManU, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool. I guess they usually make up the top four in the league? I'm a HUGE fan of Steven Gerrard, so this season I'm rooting for Liverpool. But in the past, I've rooted for Arsenal (I like Cesc Fabegras a lot) and Chelsea (I like Frank Lampard & John Terry). I don't root for ManU although Ronaldo is an amazing player. Winning just seems too easy for ManU. I prefer teams that are challenged. Apologies for being so off-topic to everyone who is not StefanM94. I couldn't write on his parchment or send him an owl. Avatar ImageCrown Victoria says: Myabe its the burrow Avatar ImageAccioCloak says: I vote for Godric's Hollow as the most likely option!Avatar Imagestevenk12468 says: I'm getting excited for Deathly Hallows and haven't even seen Half-Blood Prince yet. :p Probably Godric's Hollow...Avatar Imagesunlitdays says: i dunno first thought was godric's hollow...but then it looks king of like spinners end, but godrics hollow plays a bigger role in dh right? BUT WHAT THE HECK!!!! ITS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dang it im jazzed :PAvatar ImageHPNAIV says: I think it could be Godric's Hollow or Ted Tonks's house. Hm. Anyway, nice pictures =]Avatar Imagedcrazmo says: I doubt it's the Tonks Residence, as Harry will probably go straight to the Burrow after the motorcycle attack. (They have to streamline something, don't they?) I would say Godric's Hollow, maybe even Bathilda Bagshot's.Avatar ImageMr. Brightside says: Hmm..., this big building could either be the church at Godric's Hollow or the Malfoy manor (?) I think there were other houses around the manor...Avatar Imagelevi-OH-sa not levio-SA says: oh my goodness! the pictures were great, but that very official looking document was the coolest thing for me! how awesome! movie magic at it's best!Avatar ImageBriannaWazHere says: it looks like Godric Hollow, XD- i cannot wait!Avatar Imagejohnhuk says: Hmm, Malfoy Manor had large grounds with hedges didn't it? Big iron gates and white peacocks? Didn't see any peacocks but they looked like a row of old Tudor houses!Avatar Imagewandmastercalum says: Wooo Shell cottage/spinners end/ or godrics hollow.Avatar ImageMaggieM says: definitely malfoy manor!!Avatar ImageProfessorPotter says: Hey KB, Totenham Court Road is jut a road (a popular road) in Central London. Totenham (the home base of Totenham Hotspur football team) is in North London. FYI :)Avatar ImageKanedaX says: Also, added to everyone else's Godrics vs Spinners debate, I doubt Spinner's End is going to be a long/important enough scene to build new buildings for it. More likely you'll see Spinner's as a CG background...Avatar ImageJS297206 says: Again on the spinners end debate... this is in the HBP movie. the scene where Snape and narcissa make the unbreakable vow. We have seen the images of this scene. This village set really couldn't be spinners end as this has been filmed for the HBP movie.Avatar Imagemarie243cm says: I really hope this is Godric's Hollow. It really has the look I imagined.Avatar ImageFelipe_Q says: Hopefully it's Godric Hollow! As long as THAT is not Shell Cottage, I'm cool, LOL!Avatar Imageanne1 says: @KBPrez, I'm a Liverpool fan myself :) I also happen to live close to Tottenham at the moment. Their matches always ruin my journey home from work, along with Arsenal's, who are close by, because the tube trains are always packed on those evenings! Someone mentioned Tonks parents' home earlier. That's a good thought. I imagined somewhere in a Surrey or Sussex village for their house, between village and expensive suburbia, which could also fit the look of the set. The other set I'm looking forward to seeing is the Ravenclaw common room.Avatar Imagedecarus says: We have already seen a bit of godric's hollow in, was it the first film, where they flashed to voldemort entering the house and killing lily. It looked like a little white house with a picket fence around it. That is what i always imagined and i hope they keep that. This could be the bar that they mention at godric's hollow. This isn't how i imagine the little town though in grodic's hollow. I think i thought of something in brick. I think this seems very familar though. I don't know. Avatar ImageRightLeftMiddle says: Godric's Hollow is my guess as well. But who knows??!Avatar ImageScarlette says: I'm gonna guess it's Godric's Hollow...Bathilda Bagshot's house maybe?Avatar Imagehermyone08 says: Very Intriguing and Exciting! :)Avatar Imagejenvomitvos says: i vote for godric's hollow. so exciting!!!Avatar Imagewizardinventor says: The end the end! Wow, they are alreading building and filming DH! This to me looks like Godric's Hollow!Avatar Imagekbicprez says: @anne1, I ride the subways in NY, so I know where you're coming from. Nothing like being packed in like cattle! Don't you just love Steven Gerrard?? He's such a great player. He and Torres are a really good scoring duo. Love to watch them play. I wish they'd broadcast more Liverpool matches over here. I'm going to see if there's a group for football fans. It could be a great learning experience for me! Apologies again for being off-topic guys, but this is so exciting for me!!!Avatar Imagecdewson says: awesome. ye it looks like Godrics HollowAvatar ImageSophie Treklemmer says: Maybe it is for the end of the Seven Potters when they arrive at the Tonks' place?Avatar ImageBella1951 says: I'm thinking Godric's Hollow. I'm getting really excited for DH and HBP isn't even out yet!Avatar Imageamandrake says: This is definitely Godrics Hollow =] Avatar ImagePineappleCrush says: Could it be Malfoy Manor? I agree that the style looks quaint and lovely like it could be Godric's Hollow, but WOW that's a HUGE house if it is just Godric's Hollow!! That's why I suggest possibly Malfoy Manor.....Avatar ImagePineappleCrush says: I'm looking at it again, and although I was thinking about it and Malfoy Manor would probably be a little bit bigger... the Malfoys like to be a little... over the top. haha. But if you look at the pictures, the outside isn't finished, only the middle part is and the middle part looks like dark bricks! Regardless, can't WAIT!!!!!Avatar Imagelilyjames says: OMG!!!! i actually thought it was Zeno's house idk y i just did :/ o well it looks fantastic and idk seeing the list and how harry potter 7 was filming made me scream lol Avatar Imagebadger666 says: Awesome! I think it's probably Godric's Hollow.Avatar ImageCatherine says: Yay! news about the movie! Im excited this report be a good thing (they are keeping a scene from the bks) or a some what bad thing (a scene add from the directors mind)!Avatar Imagedehonestiss says: that is so kool! i think that it is most likely godrics hallow. whatever it is it should be awesome though!Avatar ImageChrysanthemum says: I think it could be the village of Godric's Hollow, but not Bathilda's house. They had to follow 'Bathilda' far out of town to a house away from others, and those houses are too close together to fit that. But since they are going to an awful lot of trouble to build all of that, they may be using it for Bathilda's house. In order to film the whole falling out of the window bit they would need a controlled set, not a real house, which would explain building all of this.Avatar ImageSybilT says: Could it be Malfoy Manor?Avatar Imageiheartrw says: thats totally godrics hollow! i cant wait :)Avatar ImageGreat Uncle Algie says: its too charming for spinners end. got to be godrics hallowAvatar Imagemhaeyemhaeye says: Oh my! They all look bloody brilliant! :)Avatar ImageTheCrogePodge says: It's so exciting!! Although it is kind of weird, to have not even seen HBP and now start thinking about DH.... Yeah, it's Godric's Hollow. I wonder if they're going to have that flashback to the night it all began? I REALLY hope so!!!Avatar Imagenoe_lover_42 says: omg I'm so excited about DHAvatar Imageangelac123 says: YES!!!!! I'm sooo excited!!!!!! ...and I also think it looks like Godric's Hollow! :DAvatar ImageRiddikulus kid says: O.MG. most h.p stuff happen in anerica so i am so glad us brits get some exitement-no offence U.S of AAvatar ImageHPGENIUS says: It's either godric's hollow or tonks.. but i'm going for godric's hollow.. it's too old for tonksAvatar Imagehippochip says: I agree (with almost everyone), I also think it is Godrics Hollow. It just fits so well :)Avatar ImageRavenclawed says: Definitely Godric's Hollow. This looks too picturesque for Spinner's End. Squee! I had a very definite idea of what Godric's Hollow looks like and this isn't far from it. :)Avatar ImageEmilyDeibert says: I'm so excited! Avatar ImageNeil in Scotland says: Yesss!! I can't wait for the DH films!! I was thinking that the use of Pinewood was strange, so thanks for addressing that Sue! I agree with the majority that think it's Godric's Hollow. It has that feel about it.Avatar Imagespiritbound says: Awesome ! I can't wait for this movie it's going to be immense. I also think it is likely to be godrics hollow. Avatar Imagehalf-blood-queen says: Cool, no idea where that's suppose to be though, maybe some added scene that wasn't in the book.Avatar ImageThorgalson says: I was thinking it might be Malfoy Manor... that's not really how I pictured it, and it does look like a row of houses, but maybe when we'll see it all up together it'll look like a creepy yet elegant manor? If not, then I vote for GH too. Definitely not Spinner's End, Shell Cottage or the Lovegoods' place in my opinion, and I do think it would be weird to build such a set for the Tonk's family's house. Maybe some random village? It might be Godric's Hollow, but not the Potters' house? Another part of the village? who knows?Avatar ImageMoody One says: Oh I can't wait!!! Looks great!Avatar Imagescurvy_cur says: Hmm first thing i thought was Godric's Hollow but I suppose it could also be the Tonk's house - Godric's Hollow is most likely tho I think.Avatar Imagekalb says: I'm guessing Malfoy Manor. Avatar Imagejohnhuk says: It was too small for a manor and was definitely different house not just one. Avatar ImageHagrid 713 says: It's like now it's becoming real!Avatar Imagecallicott3 says: Just remember, folks! Both 'Godrick's Hollow' and 'Spinner's end' were set, at night. A night film will look VERY different. Also, these are, most likely, not finished sets! This is gonna be so cool! I look forward to seeing the progression of the sets and the filming. [also, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 'Spinner's End' in HPB?...where 'Narcissa Malfoy' asks 'Snape' to "save her son and make the Unbreakable Vow"? Just asking] It could also be "on the way" to Malfoy Manor?Avatar Imagemugglemom4 says: I would love to visit one of the sets. Avatar Imagechoirgeek says: SO EXCITED :DAvatar ImageNoah Nighthawk says: I think it's Godric's Hollow as well. Tough to tell in the daylight though. I'm sure we'll only see it as a night shot.Avatar ImageAlice Weasley says: I too am ridiculously excitedAvatar ImageLeron_Weasley_616 says: WOW i can't believe DH is starting to be filmed, its crazy and kinda sad 'cause its the last one.Avatar ImageDobbyandWinky says: might bee, but what about he Shell cottage?Avatar ImageBeAchL0veEr05 says: Can't wait for DH! There's still like 144 days till HBP, so still a lonnggg time until DH. I'm glad they are building the set already- it seems like they really want this movie to be good! =DAvatar ImageGobbledygook says: I am so excited!Avatar Imagex_Potter_Lover_Forever_x says: Definently not Spinners End. Maybe Godrics Hollow but that scene was at night and was quite late in the book - so would that be in part one? Perhaps it's the Tonks street that would explain the Garden but that was also late evening/night. Arrrrrgh . . . . . . so many questions and no answers! I'm sooooo excited I'm practically wetting myself!! xxAvatar ImageGarden State Geek says: That house looks a bit modern for Godric's Hollow. Hmmm. Avatar ImageHagrid 713 says: AwesomeAvatar ImageAvangelis says: bring on DH
