The new issue of Total Film has a one page interview with actor Rupert Grint, where he briefly discussed his role as Ron Weasley in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The interview was conducted shortly before filming began last month, and Rupert noted he only had the Part One script to Deathly Hallows (“so far, it’s looking really cool”.) Rupert also went on to discuss the epilogue to the final Harry Potter novel by J.K. Rowling, and said he was surprised at the outcome of the trio. Quotage:

“I really liked it, it was a good ending. It was not what I expected, actually. For some reason, I thought at least one of me, Dan, Emma was going to not make it. But I think it’s going to be cool, the whole 20 years later thing. It should be fun. They’ll age us up.”

Avatar ImageAlysaw says: It seems as though Rupert hasn't read the book since he was suprised that the Trio survived. AlysawAvatar ImageChantyBabez says: Awesome! :D xAvatar Imageprats says: He means that he didn't expect before the book came out.. i'm sure he would have read it..Avatar ImageMcTricks says: I think he was talking about the book, not the script...Avatar ImageDrome says: Nice. :))Avatar Imagecdewson says: can't wait for this movieAvatar Imagesupergirlinfrance says: I love him *squee*Avatar ImageMatea says: "They'll age us up" ...wait a minute-does that mean they will age Dan,Rupert,Emma,Bonnie and Tom, or they'll cast grown-ups?Avatar Imageron_lover says: oh my gosh i am so glad that they are not going to cast new older actors for the epilogue. i was really worried about that. did anybody else think about that? or is it too out of the question to suggest? PS: I LOVE RUPERT!Avatar Imageron_lover says: OR ARE THEY GOING TO CAST OLDER ACTORS? :S Avatar ImageProfessor Alan Rickman says: Read the article. They are going to age them up with make up and special effects. Avatar ImageCarol Carvalho says: Well Rupert has read the book as it came out... he talked about it tons of times! Im glad they are going to age the actors instead of casting new ones!!!!Avatar ImageErinM says: It would be too unrealistic to add in new actors for the epilogue. I would think without a doubt that they'll just "age them up". CoolAvatar ImageEmilyDeibert says: I'm happy they aren't casting new actors. That just wouldn't be good.Avatar ImageHPNAIV says: Maybe he just assumed they'll age them up? I really hope they do because I don't want the last faces we see to be ... not them!Avatar Imagedecarus says: I think they are going to age them up. Didn't dan also make a similar comment about them working on the makeup to make them look older? This is a second similar comment so i think it looks promising. Avatar ImageSidish_black6 says: Ya they are goin to age them up. . . . Why would they cast new actors. . . . They are not small anymore. . . . It will be great to see old emma watson. . . :) he he he. . . . ;D Avatar ImageLinnyish says: Yeah, they're old enough to be able to make them look convincingly older. If they were all still 15/16 they might have brought in some adult actors but I very much doubt they'll do that. Besides, it will be a lot of fun for the makeup department, would you deprive them of that? :P Haha. I adore Rupert. Perhaps a little too much..Avatar ImageBewareoftheNargles says: Well, I'm hope they're just aging them...i'm sure it'll be fine. I wanna see the kids though!Avatar ImageMoody One says: I would love to get my hands on that script!!! I can't wait! : )Avatar ImageAccioKrum says: I agree with a lot of the other posters. I'd rather they just age them, rather than cast new actors. After all these years and 7 other movies, it wouldn't seem right if the last time we saw the trio on screen, they were being protrayed by unknown actors. Avatar ImageProfKnight says: I'm sure Rupert knows about the ending, but was probably surprised that WB stayed true to the story and not switched it up to be more dramatic and make more of a profit. I am also extremely excited to see the trio and ginny all grown up with kids of their own. Oh and I do hope the put Draco in the scene. Avatar ImageMoose_Starr says: It's good to know they'll be keeping Rupert, Dan & Emma for the epilogue & not casting random actors. Seeing as the Back To The Future movies aged up Michael J Fox convincingly all that time ago, with all the new techniques & technology available now the Trio should look really good aged up :)Avatar Imagemollywobbles23 says: No, ProfKnight. He was talking about the book, not the script. The question is "What do you make of how JK Rowling ended the story?" Read the article folks. Sheesh.Avatar ImageAlice Weasley says: It was a little surprising to me when he said they're gonna be aged, but it makes sense. I mean technically, most of them are already adults so it wouldn't be that hard... and it would be better than casting older adult actors that only sort of look like them.Avatar Imageprats says: I hope they age Dan, Rupert and Emma instead of casting older actors... it sorta makes u lose the character... it happened in the Narnia movies..Avatar ImageHPNAIV says: LOL, yeah, Emma aged up will be quite a scene! :DAvatar Imagewizardinventor says: I think that they can age them in a good way, And I think that he was referring to before the book came out when he said that he was surprised that they had all made it to the end.Avatar ImageFleur-de- Lily says: I can not wait for this movie to come out.Avatar Imagepadfoot84sb says: I definitely think they would age them up rather than cast new actors. I just cant see them casting random adults for the last scene in the films. There would be no reason to not take the time and make dan, rupert, and emma aged for the scene haha.Avatar ImageCatherine says: cool =)!Avatar Imagemuggle..andproudofit says: It sounds cool but if rupert had read the book then he would have know that the tro livesAvatar Imagex_Potter_Lover_Forever_x says: Love Rupert. I think they will put make-up and add special effect and stuff they're not going to cast older people. I hope :S Avatar ImageWeasleyGirl93 says: I'm very very happy they're not casting new actors. I don't want some random guys on screen being all "hey you just watched Dan Rupert and Emma for the past 8 movies now watch us." Avatar Imagemollywobbles23 says: muggle...andproudofit: He did read the book! Ugh! He was recently asked what the last book he read was and he said he was RE-reading DH in preparation for filming. Anyway, even if you didn't know that, the question is about what he thinks of how JK Rowling ended the story. Seriously, people: it's not that hard.Avatar Imageginnywp says: O i didnt know they were going to use the same actors for the 20 years later. Thats gonna be really cool!Avatar ImageCool Grandma2 says: Well it's good to know that they are following the book and not going to kill one of the trio off. With WB directors, you never know for sure. They do such good work with make-up that they should be able to age them up and look real. It would have spoiled the ending if they had used different actors. I don't even care if they don't look the age they are suppose to be as long as it is the real trio and others instead of doubles.Avatar Imagerealspace says: I would hate it if they used other actors to make the trio older. I think it would be much more plausable for them to use's not like they are going to be "elderly" but rather just more mature looking. I wonder if there will be a big casting call for the parts of James, Lily, Albus Severus, Rose, etc. ?Avatar ImageGryfindorprincess09 says: Can't wait for this movie to out. I do hope they use make up to age up the current actors instead of re casting for the epilogue. I also hope they don't cut too much outAvatar Imagecheeserpleaser says: Considering the fantastic technologies that were employed in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, I do think it possible for Warner Brothers to "age them up" and give them seamless impression of the advance of the years through digital means.Avatar Imagesnapealicious says: I can't wait to see the trio "aged up."Avatar ImageDanielaNC says: Great news! This pretty much confirms that they're not casting older actors for the epilogue. Thanks goodness!Avatar ImageGinevra86 says: 1 - Rupert was refering to his surprise while reading the book. He only has the script for Movie 1 2 - I don't think he really knows if they'll age the actors up. We can all assume that they would, but no one knows for sure. Again, he just has script 1Avatar Imagephantomdave79 says: I hope they do just age them up. I would rather see the actors look not exactly 20years older than see different actors in the roles. After seeing the same actors first eight movies it just won't be the same to see different actors for what five or ten minutes? So if he already has the first script then he knows where they are going to split the movies?!? Avatar Imagehp29 says: This is awsome! I can't wait... I want to see them 20 years later, i am really happy they are using the same actors :) Its going to be amazingAvatar Imagetinagin says: Yeah I think Rupert was talking about his expectations before the last book was released and it seems as if he expects they will use Dan, Emma, and him to play the trio 19 years later. Interesting,Avatar Imagesaoirse42 says: I can't wait for these movies! I'm also really relieved that they are aging the original actors - it would feel so wrong if there were other actors at the end...Avatar ImageAnvi says: Should be a nice ending, with them age'd upAvatar ImageMiss Smarticle says: Nice, I can't wait to see Part 2 of DH and to see the trio grown up on the big screen. It'll be so sad though, because it'll be the last HP film made. (Suppossidly)Avatar ImageArthur22 says: so that mans that they have not shown the part two script, only the part one. they don't even know the scenes to come in part two.Avatar Imagemhaeyemhaeye says: Yay! I do hope they just age the trio and Bonnie up and not hire strangers for the part. It would be way too impersonal if they cast new actors. I hope and hope! :) Love Rupes! Rupes is awesome! :)Avatar Imagehermione467 says: I hope Dan,Emma, and Rupert will be the actors for the epilouge :)Avatar ImagePineApple says: these day its easy to age people with make up and visual effects. so they cant leave the movie with rambon actors.Avatar ImageHermioneRon4ever says: It will be really neat to see them older! I agree with everyone else, they should use Dan, Emma, Rupert, and Bonnie, just with different make up and digital effects! Can't wait!Avatar Imagespicefan1978 says: Cool. Sounds as if they might use Dan Rupert and Emma and "age them up" a bit. I hope so, I don't want anyone else portraying these charatcers. It can be done.Avatar ImageBradyboy says: Yes me too. I'm happy that that the less faces we're going to see are Dan, Rupbert, and Emma not some actors we've never seen. Avatar Imagelau399 says: It's so good to see Rupert giving interviews and talking about Deathly Hallows. I'm so happy that they are going to age up the trio...this is so good!!!!Avatar ImageSareptheRavenclaw says: There are so many aging tricks you can do with film that it would be rediculous for the studio to hire different actors.Avatar ImageJodiie15 says: It's good that they'll stay for the epilogue. :DAvatar Imagebudb says: I'm curious where Part One will end... and I still think Evanna Lynch should be the only one to decide if a given scene, line, shot or anything is truly in line with the spirit of the books ;-). Can we get her imperial veto powers?Avatar ImageElinJ says: I am as so many others happy to hear thet they will age them up. I read somewhere that they were not sure how they would do the epilogue. but i do like that they now have decided to go with the original actors.Avatar ImageAccioAmanda says: It's really cool to hear the actors talk about the upcoming movies.Avatar Imagefelixfelicis11 says: Ah I don't know what I'll do when this is all over!??!Avatar Imageellamia says: rupert is my king!Avatar ImageAccioCloak says: Glad they're going to age the current actors rather than getting someone else in!!Avatar Imagemugglemom4 says: He probably just assumed that they would be aged. It would be cool though. Avatar ImageNight Zephyr says: First off, they're not going to have to 'age up' the Trio and Ginny and whoever all that much. Yes. twenty years is a bit to age people, but they'll still only be in their late thirties, not in their seventies or eighties. Besides, isn't that only middle age in the wizarding world anyway, since wizards and witches live longer? I'm sure Rupert has a pretty good idea of whether or not the WB plans on hiring other actors for the ending, so this is probably going to happen with Dan, Emma, Rupert, and the rest. But you know what else it means, unless they change the Epilogue? They'll have to be casting Albus and Rose and Hugo and the rest, too. Finally, yes, Rupert is RE-reading the book to prep for the movie, as he's said in recent interviews, so yes, he*has* read DH - at least twice. He is awesome, and I'm really happy for all of the media attention he's been getting of late.Avatar ImageBoyWithALightningScar says: They'll age the trio up. Nowadays they can do it very convincingly.Avatar ImageAubNoelle says: I hope they just give them makeup to look older. That'd be awesome!!! I would like to see an older, balding Draco Malfoy :-) If they do cast adult actors for the epilogue, I'll be incredibly disappointed. Avatar ImageAubNoelle says: And I have no idea what I'll do when all of this is over either. Probably bury a hole and crawl in it and cry for a year or so. HaAvatar ImageSidish_black6 says: When this is all over i'll stick around myleaky. . . N move on abt the movie. . :) Avatar ImageJadguy says: This got me happy to see deathly hallows, I like the epilogue. I especially want to see them go Benjamin Button on the trio.Avatar Imageselene21 says: I hope they do aged themAvatar Imagehalcyon says: I hope they don't age up the kids... That would be awful. Avatar Imagebecmajec says: I really hope they do make the trio older for that- can you imagine finishing the entire series with a bunch of random actors? I don't think so! I love Rupert haha his vocabulary in every interview has 'cool' about as million times. Avatar ImageProfessorPotter says: Aging make up process. Harry, Ron grow very large beards. Hermione cuts her hair, thicker eyebrows and has botox treatment. Ron and Harry voices will naturally sound older as the voices get muffled through the beards. Yep, I see no problem with the aging process :)Avatar Imagehermyone08 says: Well, i really hope that Rupert, Emma, Bonnie, and Dan will play themselves in the Epilogue part of the movie.. I mean they just have to! Avatar ImageHROAR Mudblood Proud says: He's read the script and says they'll age the trio up which must mean- the movie will have the epilogue! Yay! I was worried after Dan said they might skip it if it didn't look good. Say what you will of the epilogue, but I loved it. I certainly hope you're joking about the beards and . . . botox!?! On Hermione? That would never, ever happen. But shorter hair might. And thinning for Draco. ; )Avatar ImageNeil in Scotland says: Age them up- as it should be!! Awesome!Avatar Imagebadger666 says: Well, I certainly hope they would age them up instead of using new actors. That would just be wrong. Avatar Imagebadger666 says: Well, I certainly hope they would age them up instead of using new actors. That would just be wrong. Avatar ImageHPWonder says: cool Avatar Imagemaimiaa says: whoa, aged Harry Hermione and Ron? way neat. :]Avatar Imageavrenim says: i hope they will just age them with makeup instead of casting new people for the epilogue.. it would be kind of foolish to cast 4 new people. after benjamin button, we know anything is possible with makeup and technology :]Avatar Imageavrenim says: also.. if he received the script for dh part 1, shouldn't we know where the split is going to be by now?!Avatar ImageLeron_Weasley_616 says: so excited for this movie, and oh yea, i love rupert!!Avatar Imagelevi-OH-sa not levio-SA says: that was a nice interview :] i like rupeeAvatar Imageiceymoon says: i wish he'd give us a little teaser of what he's read so far! xD @ Alysaw clearly he *did* read the book. since he only has Part 1 of the script, he could only have read it from the book. :3Avatar ImageKara000 says: One word. SWEEETAvatar ImageEeyore says: I do hope they just "age up" Rupert, Emma, Dan and Tom.Nineteen years sounds like a long time, but really, most people don't look that different from age 17 or 18 to their late 30s. At least it's not like having them age 50 years - that would be a bit harder for them to pull off. And I agree- it sounds like Rupert is talking about the book when he mentions the epilogue. If he only has the first script, then he wouldn't have the script for the epilogue yet. It'll be interesting to see how they do the movie - I hope by splitting it into two parts, they really include all those wonderful details AND characters, especially some that were given short shrift in the other movies (Dobbie, Kreacher, Snape, et al)Avatar Imagealbeitgurggish says: exciting! Avatar Imagealbeitgurggish says: exciting! Avatar ImagePrenz13 says: He's definitely read the book, I'm sure all the main cast has read the book except maybe Gambon...LOL! I'm glad they're ageing them, casting new actors would be silly, and I want to end the movie with these three, imagine watching them all through the eight films, and then, suddenly we see some random people as grown up trio. That's be a bummer! And they're all old enough to be aged, so I don't see any problem! Avatar ImageSidish_black6 says: LolAvatar Imageangelac123 says: Interesting! :DAvatar Imagekamidee says: Yay! They're going to age the current cast XD How weird would it be if they just had random older actors LMAO! Squee! love what I'm hearing so far :)Avatar ImageFUNsized.PANDA says: I'm so happy they're aging them. It would have been so inconsistent, not to mention WEIRD to have other, older actors playing the trio. Avatar ImageHagrid 713 says: They better not use anyone but the trio - don't mind if they "age them up a bit."Avatar Imagethe-charmed-baja says: Alysaw I think he has read the last book, I think he just meant that he didn't expect all of the trio to survive - like many of the fans' reactions.Avatar Imagethe-charmed-baja says: Oh and yay! Rupert Grint is perfect as Ron :)Avatar Imagelunaspec_gimmy says: "They'll age us up" I really hope that means they'll just use makeup and things with the same actors to make them look older. ^_^ It shouldn't be too hard as they have to "age them down" for all the films now anyway.Avatar Imagemaera-kyrie says: lol He doesn't refer to them as "Ron, Harry, and Hermione", but "me, Dan, and Emma". I guess after so many years of doing this, to him, those names are interchangeable.Avatar Imageele0206 says: I'm so happy they'll do the "older" trio. I hope they'll do like Benjamin Button, perfect make up and visual effects.Avatar Imagenoe_lover_42 says: good on rup :)Avatar Imagesuh says: coolAvatar ImageCzechmetz says: Oh, yay. : ) It's such a relief to know they won't be using new actors for the epilogue. Avatar Imageweasleyalltheway says: well, that's cool. i just don't really think i want it to be a whole "back to the future" sort of thing where they make the twenty year olds look like they are fifty. mind you, it WAS the eighties, so effects weren't as great. and it probably wouldn't be as drastic if they are only 36, etc. i don't know how i feel about it. and no offence to dan (or anyone really), but he is kinda short for a 36 year old if you really think about it. all -five- of them. they just don't look 36.Avatar ImageBeAchL0veEr05 says: Yay! It will be Dan, Emma, and Rupert in the Epilouge! So excited! XD Nice interview!Avatar ImageGarden State Geek says: He thought one of the trio would die? Interesting ... Avatar ImageGobbledygook says: cool!Avatar Imagecleber says: rupert is feeling more at ease in interviews. i love the way he, emma and daniel have shaped up. it's not that easy in this business, you know.Avatar ImageDanielleD says: this just makes waiting until 2011 that much harder.
