Although not quite a week since the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in movie theaters, counterfeit copies of the film are already making the rounds. News today out of England brings word that a raid on a car boot sale in Stafford "resulted in the seizure of more than 10,000 counterfeit discs, including the new Harry Potter film, the Half Blood Prince. The paper continued:
"Officers from Staffordshire County Council trading
standards and the police swooped on the site at Brocton, near Stafford,
on Sunday and recovered the haul which also included other recently
released DVDs, music CDs and new games for the Nintendo Wii. The latest Harry Potter film was released at UK cinemas just last week and is not due out on DVD until December.
Readers will recall of course that as we have reported several times previously, the DVD for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is set to be released December 7th.

Geez, that was fast! But really? I think most Potter fans would wait and get a proper DVD. A friend of a friend had a counterfeit DVD of some movie (I don’t even remember what it was) but it was AWFUL! I don’t know why people pay money to purchase those—for the morality and simply for the sake of movie-watching! Half the movie I was listening to people’s random conversations and babies crying…. I don’t see why people even bother to create them, but whatever.
I hope the makers got the justice they deserved for trying to steal the movie and con countless people out of money.

10,000 counterfeit DVDs, games, and CDs. That’s crazy! I can’t wait for the DVD. I love the bonus features and will go out to buy it December 7. WB were really smart with Half-Blood Prince. Pushing the release date to summer to make more money and letting out the DVD just in time for the Christmas rush.
Well done to the police responsible for the seizure. I support anything that stops these criminals ripping off movies and the like.
