Earlier this year we reported that Amazon France was offering a limited “Prestige edition” collection of Harry Potter DVDs housed in a special container set at the base of a replica of Hogwarts. Today, the French Amazon website has been updated with the news that this set containing DVDs of all six Harry Potter films, including Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, will be released on November 16, 2009. Also the regular editions of the discs, Standard, Blu-Ray, Double DVD (note: these show different cover art than the UK editions released last week) contain November 18th and a November 25th release date. As readers will recall, the latest reports had a HBP DVD release date of December 8th here in the US, so we do not know if this means we may seen a bumped up release date for the disc, why there are so many different dates for the French release of Half-Blood Prince DVDs, or what all this may mean. We are trying to learn more and will update when we can.

The Prestige collection of French language Harry Potter DVDs appears to contain the Noble Collection replica of Hogwarts (or something quite like it), along with a velvet drawer with slots for all the DVDs, including two spots for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows DVDs. It is currently available for pre-order in Standard and Blu-ray formats.

Thanks Tracy!
