Leaky’s Daily Quotedown to Deathly Hallows: 96 Days

There are now only 96 days left until “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I” hits theaters! We are posting a quote from the first half of the book every day in celebration and to give us a chance to discuss and ponder the final book as it goes to film. Here’s today’s quote!

“Oh yes,” says Skeeter, nodding briskly, “I devote an entire chapter to the whole Potter-Dumbledore relationship. It’s been called unhealthy, even sinister. Again, your readers will have to buy my book for the whole story, but there is no question that Dumbledore took an unnatural interest in Potter from the word go. Whether that was really in the boy’s best interest — well, we’ll see. It’s certainly an open secret that Potter has had a most troubled adolescence.”

-Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, “In Memoriam”

But thats not how I pictured the book rita wrote.Avatar Imageladylace says: "It's certainly an open secret that Potter has had a most troubled adolescence." Oh yes. Open. Secret. What an oxymoron. Its not a secret if it's 'open'. Idiot Skeeter.Avatar Imagebettb says: And all I can think of is how much it hurt Harry to see his own relationship with Dumbledore through her twisted eyes... she may have had the facts right about the Dumbledore family, but she knew nothing about the actual people involved.... sorry, ranting about fictional people again! REALLY looking forward to seeing this film.Avatar ImageNumeroUnoFan says: haha that book is as obnoxious as ritaAvatar Imagehermione198k says: I hate Rita Skeeter!Avatar ImageDawna says: Oh, Rita, anything to sell your stories...Avatar ImageSindi says: I don't like Rita Skeeter but her character is certainly interesting, to say the least, and its funny how she kind of knew Dumbledore was keeping something from Harry... good quote! :D Avatar Imageforgetmenot_007 says: Nice one! I wonder why? Let's see.... 1) parents dead 2) facing the Dark Arts every year 3) no one believes that the Dark Lord is back 4) Rita's mean to himAvatar ImageHinkypunkmum says: I adore the fact that they used the acid-green signature color of Rita for the binding !! I love those attention to details !! Rita certainly embodies the political snark well - which is what makes her such a loathesome character . If you go back to the picture provided by the EW magazine of Hermione handing the book to Harry, you can see just how well these kids embodied the emotion of that scene.Having just narrowly escaped LV at Bathildas, Hermiones face is filled with pain for Harry, and Harry just looks , well, deadened with emotion. He is filled with a different type of pain and both Dan and Emma captured it perfectly.Avatar ImageHinkypunkmum says: You can find the picture I was trying to describe rather inarticulately here : http://www.mugglenet.com/viewer/?image_location=/movie7/dhewscan6.jpgAvatar ImageGiant Squid says: definitely love the cover!Avatar ImageMatea says: I hate that cover. I am so looking forward to it...Avatar Imagekatherine102678 says: All these quotes from Deathly Hallows makes me want to re-read the book again, but alas I am only on Goblet of Fire right now and want to go in order. I am hoping to re-read DH before its release in November.Avatar Imagekiwimci says: Does anyone know if Miranda Richardson is in DH?Avatar Imagekiwimci says: And Hinkypunkmum I totally know what you mean, I felt exactly the same whenever I seen the pictureAvatar ImageNot Slytherin says: Rita, you have no scruples, woman!Avatar ImageLove is the greatest magic says: In relation to the quote what do you make of the Harry/Dumbledore relationship? Dumbledore obviously had an inkling Harry was a horcrux from at least CoS when discussing the fact Harry could talk to snakes as Voldy had transferred some of his powers to Harry when he was a baby. Do you think he was manipulating Harry all along? Or do you think he wanted to just keep an eye on him, saw that he could possibly hold the key to defeating Voldy and then try to give him the tools to succeed like Harry said he had done in PS in showing him the Mirror of Erised? Or do you think he was trying to manipulate him but then began to love him like a son and tried to protect him whilst still hoping he could save the wizarding world? It would be nice to hear your thoughts on this. Avatar Imagevicki_the_house_elf says: I love the cover of that book, and would probably die of happiness if they released it for us to buy, especially if the cover was holographic so that Dumbledore actually moved. Avatar ImageGryffindor_Girl_xx says: Cool cover! Oh, and ... Rita Skeeter: i hate you x)Avatar Imagehprocks2700 says: Nice cover design but Rita's always annoyed meAvatar Imagehprocks2700 says: Nice cover design but Rita's always annoyed meAvatar Imagenwrosey says: @ Love is the greatest magic Good point! I think he always cared for harry but once he knew him he stared feeling something more.Avatar Imagetmcdean says: that's a very rita coverAvatar Imageanghela_DA.14 says: i will really miss dumbledore..Avatar Imageanghela_DA.14 says: by the wayy..love da picx...Avatar Imagel-u-n-a says: she's a character everyone love's to hate.Avatar Imageliterarynerd says: Oh Rita Skeeter, I just LOVE to HATE you. (: I love the cover.Avatar ImageSlyBones says: The book is just as tacky as Rita. LOL However, that specific quote made me go O_O I think its her mind that's sinister.
