There are now only 43 days left until “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I” hits theaters! We are posting a quote from the first half of the book every day in celebration and to give us a chance to discuss and ponder the final book as it goes to film. Here is today’s quote!

Gregorovitch burst into the room at the end of the passage and his lantern illuminated what looked like a workshop; wood shavings and gold gleamed in the swinging pool of light, and there on the window ledge sat perched, like a giant bird, a young man with golden hair. In the split second that the lantern’s light illuminated him, Harry saw the delight upon his handsome face, then the intruder shot a Stunning Spell from his wand and jumped neatly backward out of the window with a crow of laughter.

Avatar ImageValeria-Johanna says: Grindelwald is such an interesting character, considering that we only ever meet him in flashback or through the eyes of other people. I hope they manage to convey this in the film.Avatar ImageFleur-de- Lily says: COOlAvatar Imagedevilskinn says: This passage is so fantastic! Crazy, engaging, two characters we know very little about who actually have a great impact on the story... these books blow me away :-oAvatar Imagetjerriam says: OH! (PALAPIT NA NG PALAPIT ANG ARAW NG SHOWING!!) I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE...I'M VERY EXITED....Avatar ImageSilvery Doe says: Oh, no! I totally had forgotten about this scene. Is it Grindelwald in the window and what did he take?Avatar ImageMistic Willow says: WOW this scene puzzled me a bit at first, but to the Silvery Doe Grindelwald was laughfing at Gregorovitch for he had just stolen the Elder Wand!!!! of which he was referred hereafter and called a Thief!!Avatar ImageDawna says: Another good one! Aren't they all, though? Avatar ImageNot Slytherin says: Hey, until now I hadn't noticed the old "dodging a spell by jumping out of a window" move. The same thing that saved H & H from LV at Bathilda's house. These snapshots of Grindelwald are so intriguing and mysterious. Crazy!Avatar ImageSohumdore says: The event thta changed the wwhole 7th book!Avatar ImageLillylove says: This scene drove me crazy, because I just couldn't figure out who "the theif" could be. Of course, it was all so clear & perfect as the book went on.Avatar ImageKeaHellstorm says: You guys make me reading the all books over again :DAvatar Imageazaadpotter says: im able to imagine the movie from these quotes though i haven't read deathly hallows stillAvatar ImageJessSnape says: I am so excited to see this movie I can hardly contain myself... These quotes definitely get me more and more excited.Avatar ImageWeenyOwl says: I wonder if that was just a ground-floor window, or if young Grindelwald had already mastered the ability to fly that Voldemort didn't discover until he was in his sixties (presuming that you can count his years as Vapormort as equivalent to normal aging, which is a big presumption) It's funny - I always suspected that Dumbledore had allowed Grindelwald to live, since JKR deliberately chose the vague term 'defeated' rather than 'killed.' But what I imagined, until Book 7, was that Grindelwald was one of the wizards whom Tom Riddle had visited after graduating Hogwarts in order to learn every bit of dark magic that he could. I was a little surprised that Voldy took so long to look for him, if only to pick his brains. It's not like his whereabouts were all that secret - only the fact that he'd once owned the Elder Wand.Avatar ImageTraceymmm says: im getting very super excited for DH! Ive booked it off work and told my sister i will be visiting her at uni to watch it! AAAHHHHH!Avatar ImageHarrypotterultrafan says: I CAN-NOT WAIT i know i say that evreytime... But everydar needs to hurry up !!!! I NEED TO SEE IT KNOW!!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:DAvatar ImageNumeroUnoFan says: grindelwald was pretty BAAvatar ImageShinyPineapple says: 41 DAYS LEFT??? WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO 300 days????? D:Avatar ImageGryffindor_Girl_xx says: I NEED DH NOW!!!!!Avatar Imagetaoist1 says: I'm listening to the audio book while in car. I plan on re=reading DH again at least once before the movie. I love the enthusiasm of everyone on this site. Really cool.Avatar Imageigo2pigfarts says: Love thisssss.Avatar ImageGryffindor Lioness101 says: I'm so excited to see the movie!!Avatar Imageslayerbaby76 says: I too always wondered how Voldemort (and other wizards and witches as well) learned/invented their own spells...I know that he is a very intelligent person, but it seems like so many things can wrong with magic, especially if you aren't sure what is going to happen when you invent a spell or potion. Same with Fred and George...how do they come up with the ideas to create all the snackboxes and such?Avatar ImageBless_the_children says: We don't see or hear very much about him, but I really am fascinated by Grindelwald as one of the many characters who is set up as a contrast to the pure evil of Voldemort. He was a horrible murderer in his day, but Grindlewald did feel remorse at the end - may be had a horcrux and was put back to right before he died?Avatar ImageCatdelaCreme says: JK is amazing at imagery! You can see what's happening so clearly.Avatar Imageharrypotterfreak101 says: I can't wait to see the characters like Grindelwald and even Gregorovitch. This will be awesome. But Voldemort killed the guy..........sadly.Avatar ImageSlyBones says: I found that surprising. Who knew Gregorovitch would actually be able to repent for what he'd done. Avatar Imagepotterfantasy says: i still can't believe dumbledore was friends with gindelwald. ive always seen dumbledore as an innocent, gentle, kind human being, who always believed in what was right. then again sometimes you're not always sure what is right, and he thought that what he was doing was for the greater good, so gellert had him brainwashed to think that what they were doing was right. but we shouldnt be judging dumbledore by his past, because he now knew that what he did was wrong, and ends up making up for it with all the good he ends up doing. i guess you can say he learned from past experiences that what someone else thinks is "for the greater good" doesnt always mean so. so he went with his own instincts and is now loved by everyone, well until skeeter wrote that biography about him. she is a horrible woman, who loves to destroy the reputations of others.Avatar ImageFleur-de- Lily says: Oh, no! I totally had forgotten about this scene. Is it Grindelwald in the window and what did he take?Avatar Imagenearramorgan says: WOOOOH!!! I really can't wait!!! Can't I just travel through time and watch the movie already???Avatar ImageGiant Squid says: Great quote!Avatar Image1crazymuggle says: omg i cant wait for the movies!!!! 40 days!!! just a little more than a month!!!!!! Avatar Image1crazymuggle says: omg i cant wait for the movies!!!! 40 days!!! just a little more than a month!!!!!! Avatar Imagedilysroot says: one good thing about Grindelwald is that he stole the Elder wand and stunned its owner, unlike previous times the Elder want was taken by killing the previous owner. Maybe he wasn't as bad as Voldemort, he seemed to think it was funny. And this sets up the ending by the way Harry had power over the wand because Draco used the exspelliarmus charm to get it from Dumbledor, once again taking it without killing the owner. All of this was totaly lost on Voldemort who never bothered to stun anybody, one trick - avada kadvra.Avatar Imagehp931 says: I'm so exited!Avatar ImageSusmita singh says: I LOOOOOOOVE HARRY POTTER!!!!!!!!!Avatar Imagegreenfinch says: Grindelwald is such an interesting character.Avatar ImageAhvana says: That was one of the best Harry Potter movies ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
