The National Railway Museum (NRM) in York, UK is holding a Wizard Weekend event this Saturday and Sunday, the 14th and 15th of August. At this special event, cab access to Olton Hall, the steam engine used as the Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter films, will be free, allowing attendees to have photos taken of them as they pretend to drive the train. The event description also promises "special performances" from mischievous wizards at 11.15am and 3.15pm. Owls from the Birds of Prey and Conservation Centre at Sion Hill Hall will also be at the event between 10am and 5pm.

On Sunday, 15th August, Matt Lewis (Neville Longbottom) will be signing autographs at the National Railway Museum from 11-12.00 and 12.30-1.30pm. Additionally, anyone able to get to the Museum for 10am on the Sunday can enter a competition to win a face-to-face interview with Lewis; more details on how to enter, as well as the full terms and conditions, can be found here on the NRM website.

According to the website, the event is free and suitable for all ages.

Many thanks, Tom, for emailing in!

Wait. I thought that the train was in Orlando for the WWoHP or in Toronto at the Science Centre. I have been to both and they both have the train or two identical ones!!! I am confused!!!

No this loco has never left the Uk, it was built to a GWR design and will presumably at some point return to original livery of Brunswick green at some point, probably at next overhaul, now filming is over. Olton Hall has had an illustrious career separate to association with its role as the loco featured in all the HP movies so far.
The one at the theme park is a replica built for the Park I understand, not even sure if it is metal. As for the Loco at Toronto I am intrigued and know nothing about it,
Hopefully see lots of you at the NRM, perhaps we should have a way of telling who is there from Leaky?

The NRM sounds amazing. Would love to do a tour of UK and see all the sights. Will have to settle for seeing the duplicate engine at WWoHP in September. Very kind of Matt to be there and do autographs.

Oh brilliant I never knew about that train ride nundu, especially the woman who asks: “Anything off the trolley, dears?” Genius. I saw it written on the side as the destination. Just never mentioned on the whole website that it was the Hogwarts Express
