The 83rd Academy Awards took place last night in Los Angeles, California; a number of actors from the Harry Potter films were in attendance at the ceremony and selected Oscar Parties. Composer of the soundtrack for “Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ Alexandre Desplat and Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) attended the Academy Awards as nominees for their roles in Best Picture winning “The King’s Speech”. You can find pictures of both Desplat and Bonham Carter at the Montblanc Cocktail Party and at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards here and here, respectively and find details of the winners at the bottom of this post. Sadly, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ did not win in either of the two categories in which it was nominated; Visual Effects went to “Inception” and Art Direction to “Alice in Wonderland”.

Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes attended the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, and you can find photos from that here in our galleries as well as of Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) at the 19th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party right here in our galleries and of Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) at the previous night’s Film Independent Spirit Awards at this link in our galleries.

Secondly, keen eyed watchers will have spotted “Tiny Ball of Light”, the hilarious auto-tuned clip of a scene in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1″. The Gregory Brothers auto-tuned the clip, which aired during Sunday night’s ceremony. MTV named the auto-tuned clips as one of their top five favourite moments from the evening.

The clip has been uploaded to PopSugar, you can watch it embedded below:

Winners:

  • “The King’s Speech”, which stars Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore) and Timothy Spall (Peter Pettigrew), received a total of twelve nominations, including Alexandre Desplat, who was nominated for Original Score. It won: Best Picture, Actor in a Leading Role (Colin Firth), Achievement in Directing (Tom Hooper) and Writing – Original Screenplay (David Seidler).
  • “Alice in Wonderland”, which stars Alan Rickman (Severus Snape), Helena Bonham Carter, Timothy Spall and narrator of the British Harry Potter audiobooks Stephen Fry, was nominated in Visual Effects, Costume Design and Art Direction and won in: Costume Design and Art Direction.

That dress was pretty ghastly, and at first I thought that the little Union Jack wallet on her leg was a huge tattoo!Avatar Imagebellatrix15101 says: @WeenyOwl: She DID seem to be channeling Bellatrix a bit.... but I kinda liked that dress to be honest..... it's a little unusual but... I have odd taste sometimes. ;) Oh, "Tiny Ball of Light". You made up for the fact that my DVR didn't record the best picture award being given because the Oscars always go overtime. As soon as it started, my mom and me exchanged a glance like "Um.... oh wow." And I found myself snickering slightly for the rest of the auto-tuned clip things. (Even though I'm not into Twilight, I saw Eclipse and as soon as the "He Doesn't Own A Shirt" part came, I was thinking "YES they chose the best line in the movie and made it awesomer.")Avatar Imageazaadpotter says: Nice but sad that we didn't get the oscarsAvatar Imagepotterfan4lyfe says: "You're my light. You're my tiny ball of light"♥ Best. Line. EVER!
