Video: J.K. Rowling Reads From "Peter Pan" During Olympic Opening Ceremony

As previously reported, author J.K. Rowling played a special role during the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony. As part of a segment celebrating British children's literature, Ms. Rowling read a selection from J.M. Barrie's "Peter Pan."

A video of her appearance at the ceremony can be seen here, via BuzzFeed.

The ceremony also included a larger than life Lord Voldemort representing children's nightmares, only to be overcome by the happy appearance of several Mary Poppins look-a-likes.

This was sooo cool to see. I loved it!!!! They said that J.K rowling was nervous, she didn’t sound it. Thanks for doing that Jo.!!!!!!

Was I that distracted that I missed this in the NBC broadcast of the ceremony? I know they tastelessly cut the tribute to the victims of the 7/7 bombings and you can’t get much worse than that.

It was lovely to see Jo and hear her reading from Peter Pan.
