As previously reported, author J.K. Rowling played a special role during the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony. As part of a segment celebrating British children’s literature, Ms. Rowling read a selection from J.M. Barrie’s “Peter Pan.”

A video of her appearance at the ceremony can be seen here, via BuzzFeed.

The ceremony also included a larger than life Lord Voldemort representing children’s nightmares, only to be overcome by the happy appearance of several Mary Poppins look-a-likes.

Thank you, Joel, for the tip!

Thanks for doing that Jo.!!!!!!Avatar Imageelena2212 says: @HarryLover Who said that she was nervous ?Avatar Imagelovelle says: Definitely the best parts of the Opening ceremony! I was stuck in my chair watching! :DAvatar Imagetinagin says: Was I that distracted that I missed this in the NBC broadcast of the ceremony? I know they tastelessly cut the tribute to the victims of the 7/7 bombings and you can't get much worse than that.Avatar ImageWON_TWO says: The coverage stinks...Avatar Imagemoglet says: It was lovely to see Jo and hear her reading from Peter Pan. Regarding the bit that was cut by NBC You can see the missing dance choreographed by Akram Khan at this link:
