As you all know, there has been much excitement about purchasing tickets for the JK Rowling event at the Jazz at Lincoln Center. The issue involving a security breach of the website, early ticket sales, overbooking tickets, and moving venues has been solved. All tickets bought on September 9 and 10 will be honored, and the event is being moved to a larger venue ( David H. Koch Theater ). A full layout of the day’s events has been laid out update-by-update on LeakyNews. LeakyNews reports:

September 9, 2012

Earlier tonight, a link surfaced allowing people to purchase tickets to the J.K. Rowling appearance at Lincoln Center on October 16. It showed up many hours before tickets were supposed to go. Fans immediately alerted the group of those sleeping outside the box office for the past two days, as well as, well, Leaky. Tweets from fan sites alerted the fans, who went straight to the purchase page.

For about an hour, tickets went at an astonishing pace ’ random searches only took minutes to go from front and center to high-level box seats. The ticket link does not appear to be functioning anymore. The site says there are only eight tickets left.

UPDATE 9/10/12 10:59am ET: There is a lot of concern that tickets for this event were somehow double sold.

UPDATE 9/10/12 12:12pm ET: An update was just posted on the Jazz at Lincoln Center website which reads as follows.

J.K. Rowling In Conversation With Ann Patchett is now SOLD OUT. Please be advised that there will not be a cancellation line, refunds or exchanges. Thank you!

UPDATE 9/10/12 11:42pm ET: The following message recently popped up on the Jazz at Lincoln Center website.

A Conversation with J.K. Rowling ’ October 16, 2012 Update Due to technical difficulties on the ticketing website, tickets for the J. K. Rowling event on 10/16/12 were made available prematurely at 10 pm on September 9th. Tickets then went on sale at the previously announced time of 10 am on September 10th. Jazz at Lincoln Center is in the process of investigating how this occurred and what arrangements may be made to honor each ticket purchased, and will provide an update as quickly as possible. Neither JK Rowling nor Little Brown and Company are responsible for this situation. Jazz at Lincoln Center apologizes for any inconvenience.

UPDATE 3:22pm ET: The Jazz at Lincoln Center website no longer reads “due to technical difficulties.” The site now reads “due to a security breach.” The remainder of the message remains the same.

Due to a security breach, tickets for the J. K. Rowling event on 10/16/12 were made available prematurely at 10 pm on September 9th. Tickets then went on sale at the previously announced time of 10 am on September 10th.

UPDATE 9/11/12 5:15pm ET: Our friends at Hypable recently had an employee read them an internal email over the phone, which stated that the event is being moved to a larger theater in order to accommodate ALL tickets purchased. Article here. We urge you to wait for further official updates from the JALC website as internal emails are subject to change. This is positive news, but it is in no way official yet. Once we have official clarification we will update you.

UPDATE 9/12/12 10:39am ET: A LeakyNews reader, Nancy Pina, just received an email from Jazz at Lincoln Center confirming that the JK Rowling event will be moved to the David H. Koch theater and ALL tickets will be honored. The full email is included below. Those with tickets purchased on September 9 will be contacted directly by email. Thanks Nancy for the tip!

On Sunday, September 9, Jazz at Lincoln Center’s ticketing system was breached and an unauthorized link to purchase tickets to the J.K. Rowling The Casual Vacancy event on October 16 was distributed online. This breach did not result in the breach of purchasers’ personal information. In order to accommodate customers who purchased tickets on September 9 as well as customers who purchased tickets on September 10, Jazz at Lincoln Center has secured the David H. Koch Theater at 20 Lincoln Center as the new location for the event. Each customer who purchased tickets prior to the official on-sale date and time will be contacted directly by Jazz at Lincoln Center to process tickets for the event at the new location. The event remains sold out. At this time, only customers who purchased tickets on September 9 and 10 will be accommodated. Although neither Little, Brown and Company nor J.K. Rowling are responsible for this situation they were keen to make sure that no person who legitimately bought a ticket was left disappointed, and are delighted this matter has been resolved in this way and apologize for any confusion that may have been caused in the meantime. Jazz at Lincoln Center apologizes too for any inconvenience and looks forward to welcoming everyone to the David H. Koch Theater on October 16.

UPDATE 9/12/12 2:42pm ET: Little, Brown & Co. (which has been very silent during this whole process) just posted the same email that was sent to one of our readers on their website. You can view the release here. This is finally a 100% official confirmation that all tickets purchased on Sept 9 and 10 will be honored and that the event has indeed moved to the larger theater. They mention that emails will be sent to those people who bought tickets on September 9. These emails have NOT yet been sent. We will update you once these emails are sent out.

We hope this answers all of your questions, we apologize for the delay of this article. This situation has been very confusing.
