The New York premiere of the Harry Potter movie was covered by the Post who also wrote in today’s Gossip column about actor Robin Williams missing out on a part:

ROBIN Williams is bummed he missed out on a role in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” “There were a couple of parts I would have loved to play but there was a ban on American actors,” the puckish comic told The Post’s Megan Turner before Sunday’s premiere at the Ziegfeld. “Maybe, one day . . . say if [Harry] goes to Yale and becomes president.” Williams, sporting what he called his “Irish pimp look” – a green velvet Dolce & Gabbana suit – also had a crack at explaining the Potter phenomenon. “It’s about magic and empowerment, physically and emotionally. And it talks about school.”
