Character Birthdays, News

The first of March celebrates one of the most beloved characters in the Harry Potter series, Ron Weasley! Today, Ron turns 36 within the Harry Potter cannon.

Ron, despite his faults and weaknesses (everybody has those!), is one of the most lovable characters in the entire series. Though he and Harry have a similar work ethic in school–well, similar, at least Harry tries a little–he has a good heart that stretches far beyond the limiting realms of academia. During is time at Hogwarts, Ron served as Gryffindor’s keeper on the Quidditch team, and as a Gryffindor Prefect.

Ron was sorted into Gryffindor for his brave heart. He never wavered on the idea of skipping school to go hunt Horcruxes with Harry, though he would struggle with it later. He personally destroyed one Horcrux, and helped Hermoine destroy another. Ron fought valiantly in the Battle of Hogwarts, even after the loss of his brother.

After the Battle of Hogwarts, Ron joined Harry in accepting Prime Minister Kingsley Shaklebolt’s invitation to join the Aurors and hunt down Death Eaters who had escaped immediate capture. Ron married his long-time love and best friend, Hermione Granger, and together they had two children, Rose and Hugo. Though their marriage isn’t perfect (whose is?), Hermione and Ron will be alright. Ron is close to his children, and makes a great, fun uncle to Harry’s kids–he is also James’s, Harry’s eldest, godfather.

The trio eventually were portrayed on their own Chocolate Frog cards for all of their accomplishments. Having been  an avid Chocolate Frog card collector since his youth, this was one of Ron’s proudest achievements.

We look forward to learning more about Ron, his life, and how he has aged when Cursed Child hits the London stage later this year! Until then, have a Chocolate Frog and a cup of Butterbeer, and join us in wishing Ronald Weasley a very happy birthday!
