Cursed Child’s global renown may be making US Potter fans a little restless to see it, but never fear: the states has a Potter-themed play of its own on the rise! Puffs, or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic is back in NYC, in an off-Broadway run that pays homage to the underdog: Hufflepuffs.

Named one of Hypable’s top five plays of 2015, Puffs is written by Matt Cox and directed by Kristin McCarthy Parker. It follows the story of Hufflepuffs throughout the seven eventful years that a certain trio attended Hogwarts. The parody’s last run at the Peoples Improv Theater was completely sold out, so it’s not one to miss! New York Times selected it as a Critics Pick, saying it “exudes a jovial, winking fondness for all things Harry”.

Performances started last Thursday (29th September) at The Elektra Theatre  (300 West 43rd Street), and we’ve been given an exclusive discount code to share with all you Potter fans, so you can experience it for yourselves!

The code applies to all performances through 15th October, and gets you 30% off a ticket, meaning it’ll be $36.50 rather than $41.50-$51.50!

All you have to do is either visit the website, call (866) 811-4111 or visit the box office and quote the code “KeepTheCodeSecret” to get the discount.  The Elektra Theatre box office is at 300 W 43rd St, 2nd Floor (Between 8th and 9th Aves) and opens 1.5 hours prior to curtain.

Performance schedule:

The synopsis is as follows:

“Some people are born to do great things. Some people change the world. Some people rise from humble beginnings to beat back the forces of darkness in the face of insurmountable odds. This is the story of the Puffs, or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic & Magic gives you a front row seat to the sidelines of the world’s most famous magical journey. Named one of Hypable’s top five plays of 2015, Puffs “exudes a jovial, winking fondness for all things Harry” (The New York Times) as it follows the story of a young wizard named Wayne Hopkins and the Puffs–a group of well-meaning, loyal rejects with a thing for badgers.

Together, they do their best to learn spells, try not to get hurt, and discover what they’re really made of . . . but, seriously, try not to get hurt . . . in this “laugh-out-loud production perfect for any fan of this magical world” (Pop City Life).”
