Pottermore Debuts the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Theme Song and Soundtrack!

Pottermore have debuted the Fantastic Beasts soundtrack, by releasing the movie’s theme song! It’s absolutely beautiful – just a warning: the nostalgia might make you more than a little emotional!

Listen to the theme track, created by Grammy and Emmy Award-winning composer James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games franchise, The Dark Knight, Snow White and the Huntsman and Pretty Woman) below. It’s so detailed and layered and beautifully entwined with the Harry Potter soundtrack:

James spent seven months writing the Fantastic Beasts soundtrack. For this particular track, as well as Newt Scamander’s theme, he sat down at his piano and just played until it came. 

‘You hear the main theme song of the movie play when the main crew arrive at the MACUSA the first time and various other times,’ he tells me. ‘You hear this haunting kind of theme. If you had to say what is the theme for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them for now and in the future, it would be that theme. I wrote it on my piano because I believe that if that kind of thing is going to be good, it should be done that simply.’

The soundtrack will be available on the date of the movie’s release next month (November 18th) including a special 100 minute long deluxe edition! You can preorder on Amazon here and iTunes here.
