The global Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone In Concert -tour is going to arrive to the UK next year! Pottermore chatted with Justin Freer, the founder of CineConcerts, about what the audiences can expect from this Potter-related experience.

CineConcerts was launched in 2013 with Gladiator Live, and after working with projects like Breakfast at Tiffany’s in Concert and DreamWorks Animation in Concert, the company is making it possible for the fans of the Harry Potter franchise to experience a symphony orchestra performing to the entire Harry Potter and Philosopher’s Stone. According to the Harry Potter in Concert website

“the tour will feature a live symphony orchestra performing, to picture, every note from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Audiences will be able to relieve the magic of the film in high-definition on a 40-foot screen while hearing the orchestra perform John Williams’ unforgettable score.”

Pottermore chatted with Justin Freer, the founder of CineConcerts, who shared his excitement about touring the show in the UK. He says,

“Now we can share this special experience with the UK audiences. Because of course, with J.K. Rowling and where it was filmed, and the background of the story itself, [parts of] the story are set in London itself.”

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in Concert will make its UK debut on 12 May 2017 at Royal Albert Hall in London. After that, it will travel to Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Glasgow.

Freer admits to being humbled by the possibility to breath into life the iconic score by John Williams. He says:

“I think that John Williams is one of the great geniuses of all music, not just film. He’s a monolithic giant in our craft, in our art-form, and he’s given us such memorable melodies. Between J.K. [Rowling’s] creations and John’s creations, what a wonderful marriage.”

While there are so many amazing moments in the first movie, Freer names the Quidditch match as his favorite, saying that “there’s just so much adventure, and soulful spirit, intrigue, suspense, there’s almost every emotion you can feel.”

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is only a beginning to CineConcerts’ work with Harry Potter, and in the upcoming years, we will have a chance to see all Potter movies in a similar manner. Freer explains that “the plan is to unfold all eight movies in this very uniquely fun musical and visual way.”

Tickets for the tour are available from here. In case you are not in the UK, please keep in mind that CineConcerts is touring also in other countries (tour dates have been announced to Italy, United States, Switzerland, France, Germany, Spain, Hungary, Mexico, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Austria, Belgium and Australia.) Fans in the US should also keep their eyes on the first announced tour dates for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
