Handwritten Beedle the Bard Manuscript Sells for $468,000

A beautifully bound copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard handwritten and illustrated by JK Rowling was auctioned on December 13th by Sotheby’s. Bound in leather and inset with semi-precious stones and a silver skull, the storybook was sold to an anonymous telephone bidder for £ 368,750 (468,383 USD).

Sotheby’s stated in its review of the “English Literature, History, Children’s Books and Illustrations”  auction:

“The highlight of the afternoon session was, naturally, the manuscript of J.K. Rowling’s Tales of Beedle the Bard (£ 368,750)”
