‘Fantastic Beasts’ Nominated for Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards

The nominations keep coming for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them this award season. The film received three nods from the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Wednesday, giving it the opportunity to pick up an award in spite of failing to garner notice from the academy in this category.

Fantastic Beasts is nominated for Best Period and/or Character Make-up, Best Special Make-Up Effects, and Best Period and/or Character Hair Styling.

In the Best Period and/or Character Make-Up category, Fantastic Beasts is up against Doctor Strange, Hail, Caesar!, Loving, and Suicide Squad.

Its contenders in the Best Special Make-Up Effects category are Deadpool, Doctor Strange, Star Trek Beyond, and Suicide Squad.

Finally, Fantastic Beasts is competing with Florence Foster Jenkins, Hail, Caesar!, Jackie, and Loving for the Best Period and/or Character Hair Styling award.

Considering the beautifully-recreated 1920s hair and make-up, as well as other amazing make-up effects such as the mark of the obscurial, it’s very possible the make-up artists’ and hair stylists’ achievements will charm the critics. According to Goldderby, the 2017 awards will be handed out February 19th.
