The UK’s leading theatre website, WhatsOnStage, announced their shortlist for their 17th annual awards last month, and Cursed Child made the list 11 times! Various Potter actors also feature on the list of nominees, and it’s up to the public to vote for the winners in each category.

Cursed Child‘s Jamie Parker (who plays Harry Potter) is nominated for Best Actor, as well as Harry Potter‘s Lord Voldemort, Ralph Fiennes, for his performance in Richard III. Also nominated is Kenneth Branagh (Professor Lockhart) for his leading role in The Entertainer. Helen McCrory (Narcissa Malfoy) is also up for Best Actress for her performance in The Deep Blue Sea.

In the Best Supporting Actor category, Cursed Child pit Anthony Boyle (Scorpius Malfoy) and Paul Thornley (Ron Weasley) against each other – it’ll be difficult to decide between such excellent performances, and it’s interesting to note that one played a character new to us, and one portrayed a character we’ve grown to know by page and screen over the years. Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger) and Poppy Miller (Ginny Weasley) both portray fiery, strong characters who are at the heart of the Potter series, are both actresses are nominated for Best Supporting Actress. You’re sure to have a hard time picking a winner for both of these categories!

Cursed Child is also nominated for Best New Play, John Tiffany is nominated for Best Direction, Katrina Lindsay for Best Costume Design, Christine Jones for Best Set Design, Neil Austin for Best Lighting Design and finally, Finn Ross and Ash Woodward for Best Video Design.

You can have a hand in helping your favourite Cursed Child and Potter actors, actresses and crew members win at the 17th annual WhatsOnStage awards by voting at this link. Voting closes at the end of January, and only takes a few clicks!
