Tom Felton Narrates Roald Dahl Audiobooks For Penguin Random House UK

Recently, Tom Felton posted on Instagram to share a ‘fun day’ recording an audiobook. Well, we just happen to know exactly where he was!
Tom made his way to Penguin Random House UK’s studios to record three short stories for a collection of adult Roald Dahl audiobooks which will be publishing in paperback, ebook and audio on August 10th in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. The audiobooks will be available on Audible and iTunes. Other narrators include Julian Rhind-Tut, Rory Kinnear and Kevin Eldon.
The stories (Innocence, Trickery, Fear and War) are a lot darker than Roald Dahl’s famous children’s books, such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, George’s Marvellous Medicine and The Twits (which – come to think of it – were all more than a tad dark!), and many include autobiographical stories from the author’s boyhood.
The first of the series of adult short stories, Innocence, is a pondering of what makes people innocent, and is described as follows:
“Among other stories, you’ll read about the wager that destroys a girl’s faith in her father, the landlady who has plans for her unsuspecting young guest and the commuter who is horrified to discover that a fellow passenger once bullied him at school.”
Tom Felton will read three stories from Trickery, which is about manipulation and deception, featuring autobiographical tales from Roald Dahl’s youth and four tales on growing up:
“Among other stories, you’ll read about the wager that destroys a girl’s faith in her father, the landlady who has plans for her unsuspecting young guest and the commuter who is horrified to discover that a fellow passenger once bullied him at school.”

Fear compiles fourteen ‘spine-chilling’ stories:
“They include such timeless and haunting stories as Sheridan Le Fanu’s The Ghost of a Hand, Edith Wharton’s Afterward, Cynthia Asquith’s The Corner Shop and Mary Treadgold’s The Telephone.”
War shares autobiographical tales from Roald Dahl’s time as a fighter pilot, and some fiction tales of conflict:
“Among other stories, you’ll read about the pilot shot down in the Libyan desert, the fighter plane that vanishes inside a mysterious thick white cloud and the soldier who returns from war but has been shockingly changed by his experiences.”
These stories have never been published as audiobooks before, and apart from recording the audio guide for Warner Bros Studio Tour, this is the first time Tom’s recorded anything like this! Take a look at an exclusive image from Penguin below:
Tom Felton also dropped in to help out his mum (Sharon Felton) at her shop – Dorking Domestic Appliances – in South Street (Dorking) earlier this month, and in sad news for The Flash fans, it appears Tom Felton will not be returning as a series regular for Season 4! What a shame!
