We’ve heard that Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley) and Julie Walters (Mrs. Molly Weasley) have been signed for sequels, today’s Mirror has an article stating that Daniel Radcliffe has just signed a pounds 1M ($1.4M) deal to star in Chamber of Secrets. According to the article, it’s been decided that filming for the next movie will start soon which means casting announcements for Gilderoy Lockhart, Colin Creevey, Tom Riddle, Lucius Malfoy, and Dobby (if he’s not done through puppetry or computer graphics).

Note: This article says that the movie is due out in November around the same time book 5 is due out. No doubt the editors of the article haven’t read this site nor the article stating that the book isn’t due out until 2002. There have also been unconfirmed rumors that the movie will be delayed until December due to the child labour laws in the UK delaying filming.

THE schoolboy who plays Harry Potter on screen has landed a pounds 1million deal to star in a sequel.

And Daniel Radcliffe could be in line for pounds 10million if all seven of JK Rowling’s planned books are filmed.

Studio chiefs fear the 11-year-old’s resemblance to the teenage wizard will alter as he ages.

His voice could also break and they have moved quickly in deciding to start Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets only weeks after finishing the first movie.

London-born Daniel and the crew are on standby for filming in the summer.

Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone will be in cinemas in November at about the same time as Rowling’s fifth book in the series comes out. By then the second film may also be finished.

An insider said: “Daniel has proven himself a brilliant young actor and perfect for the part.

“Kids grow so quickly at his age and if there’s any delay in production they’re terrified he will look too old to play Harry in the next movie. It’s a race against time, they know they must make the second film this year.”

Warner Bros wants to make movies of all the Potter books.

Rowling said there will be seven in total, which could mean a bumper pay-day for Daniel.

But the film company has always insisted it depends on how well the first does at the box office. A spokeswoman said the sequel had not been given final approval. She added: “There are no definite plans yet.”
