Those of you not familiar with the “wand order error” will want to read this article from Minnesota’s Fairmont Sentinel.
Importantly, readers are told early and later reminded that Harry’s father died first, and then his mother as she huddled over the infant Harry, protecting him. Now, keeping in mind the order of their deaths, read on.

Here then, on page 667 of “Goblet of Fire” is where things get interesting. In some copies of the book, the ghost of Harry’s father emerges before the ghost of Harry’s mother; a clear reversal of “history.” In other copies of the book, the ghost of Harry’s mother rightly emerges first. Those reading one of the former copies are likely to ask: What gives? If Harry’s father did not die first, as readers were informed, then where was he when Harry’s mother died? Was Harry’s father not the noble wizard readers believed him to be? Was he — say it isn’t so — an agent of Voldemort?
