Harry Potter Carnival may not come to India
A long planned, week-long mega event in the Indian metropolis Bangalore may not come to life, because copyright holders Warner Brothers giving it the cold shoulder.
Themes from Harry Potter novels were proposed to be recreated in Bangalore and many resorts on the outskirts of the city. Sources told The Times of India that the idea has not taken off since Hollywood-based entertainment group Warner Brothers has not responded so far.
“We have had talks with the creator of the character and British author, J.K. Rowling, who had indicated that she had no problem. But she has sold rights for two years to Warner Brothers, and we have written to them. But they have not called us for talks or shown any indications that they are interested in our project. They have not even acknowledged our communication,” the sources said.
