Beginnings, Beginnings, Beginnings

Topic of the Blog: “I Open at the Close” ’Deathly Hallows pg. 134 (American)

In my experience, Beginnings normally lead to more beginnings. Like this Beginning. This Beginning, the Beginning of this blog, is really the result of a Beginning that happened almost ten years ago. That Beginning began when a certain grade school girl picked up a certain best selling children’s novel. Now, at the time, that little girl didn’t know how that novel would change her life. Sure it took a while- Harry Potter remained just a favorite book for a long time. It wasn’t until high school that the girl, whom you might have guess by now is yours truly, stumbled into the Fandom through the wonder that is the Internet.

So, the Beginning that was my first
Harry Potter book evolved into the Beginning that was the MuggleCast Fan Chat on AIM, which somehow, strangely enough, became my Beginning as a Leaky staffer. And now we’re up to date: The Beginning of this blog.

But it’s not just Beginnings that give rise to more Beginnings. Some Endings create Beginnings, too. Now, I’m giving fair warning, so anyone in denial, cover your eyes and skip this next sentence! The books are over. We’ve closed
Deathly Hallows. The end. Or not. I’ve been thinking about this, how it’s over, and it’s depressing, and no more canon (so we think¦any more 800 word notecards for us, Jo?), right? Wrong! Well, ok, the canon part might be right (oooo, prequel, I want you!), but for it being over and depressing, really, that’s up to us.
Just look at this! It’s been almost a year, and there are so many Beginnings! So many openings at the close of Harry Potter. This blog, and my fellow bloggers’ blogs, is one example of a close-Beginning. But there’s so much more! HedwigisNotDead.com is another Beginning. Look at all the wizard rock shows and CDs. Each one of those is a Beginning for someone. I bet at each and every wizard rock show, there’s someone there that has NEVER been to a wizard rock show before. And they’ll say to themselves, “Gee, this wrock stuff is pretty cool¦maybe I should look into some more of it!” AHA! Another Beginning! They’re everywhere! Together, we are all creating close-beginnings. Portus, Terminus, all chances for new friendships, new experiences, and, you guessed it, new Beginnings!

So, I guess in closing, don’t forget the Beginnings. The past Beginnings, the future Beginnings, and the Beginnings happening at this very instant in our Fandom. Because yes, Jo has closed her
Harry Potter notebooks, we’ve all closed the 7th book, and Michael Gambon has closed his research for his role (in fact, he never really opened his research¦). But we’re still here. And there’s still Beginnings to begin! Conferences (*cough*leakycon*cough), wrock concerts, movies, theme parks! Beginnings! All these openings at the close!
