Life Goes On

Sometimes, just sometimes, the crafting desire or
‘mojo’ as one of my friends calls it just isn’t there. Different
reasons but often, going through unexpected events can just wipe out
the urge to make something as your mind tries to deal with the events
that are or have occurred.

Lately, I’ve found myself in that
place as my husband and I were completely shocked to learn of the death
of our friends’ fourteen year old son. The younger of her two boys, J
was always upbeat, helpful and mannered (both boys were, they had been
taught well) in the years I have known him. But looking back over
photos, you would be hard pressed to find any where his face was not
lit up with his smile.

Somehow, the news just sent us for a loop — and you can
only imagine what it has done to his parents and brother — and
focusing on projects has been hard to come by.

Recently, over
the past few days, I’ve remembered that the best tribute to someone is
to pick up and live your life the best way you can. So this weekend,
I’ve sat myself down and picked up one of my WIP’s to get it to the
end. The progress has been slow but its a few more stitches towards
continuing on. It’s proving to be the therapy that works for me as I
deal with.

And with that in mind, I head to my yarn and hooks
and hope that the stitches lead to someone having a smile at some point
in their life like J had in all of his. He spread joy with his smile,
I can spread some with my crafts.

Life does truly continue.
