To Quibble… or not to Quibble…?

Bloggers - Rudi

So it has been quite a while since I have written an article in this blog. In the interim there have been some changes; I don’t handle the full production of the Quibbler anymore, but rather submit articles from time to time and pitch in my 2 knuts worth when the articles are being discussed.

I have to say at this point the awesomeness of the Quibbler is entirely due to the team that work on it every month, the full list of the usual suspects can be seen in every issue, but wordsaremagic really came through and rescued the publication when I got bogged down with IRL issues and took over the layout and putting everything together. That’s not to say that the rest of the Quibblets, as we call the Quibbler staffers aren’t heroes in my book, because without articles, ads and goats we wouldn’t have anything to put on the pages.

Speaking of articles, though, I thought it would be a good idea to discuss what exactly we look for in an article. Basically the idea is to keep the article in the HP world as written by the author. This means that when we stray into the arena of fact we stick to canon so characters from other books don’t feature in our articles. This means that Voldemort is not Darth Vader without the suit and Mundungus Fletcher is not The Artful Dodger a few years on.

What we do like is a good conspiracy theory so if you want to write in and tell us that Weasley Wizarding Wheezes is a front for a illegal krup smuggling ring or that you could swear you saw Severus Snape at your local 7-11 buying a can of diet soda and a candy bar, feel free to write to us. Thing to remember about that though is that Alan Rickman is not Severus Snape as far as we are concerned, but an actor portraying him in a dramatization of Harry Potter’s “biography” which was leaked to Muggles as “a work of non-fiction”.

Note the inverted commas there: we tend to lapse into talking about as if its all real, but of course, its all imagination and we really would like you to use yours and come up with something fun and interesting for a future issue!
