Thanks Sam great blog. I think I might be the only person around who didn’t like the Dark Knight. I think the Michael Keaton batman story is more my taste. This Batman didn’t fit my view of what the original comics set out to accomplish.

I understand the original comics were more light-hearted. But I loved the new dark addition to the batman series. I love Batman Begins and The Dark. Since comic superheros became “in” again, and the movies have been coming out weekly, these two were my favourite.

Well doris… I suppose The Dark Knight is more inspired by Graphic Novels than the regular comic… but I’m not a very knowledgeable person in comic books, so I may be very wrong.

I like this new blog of yours Sam! It’s lighthearted and you write pretty well too. I have to say, though, that I found some of the comparisons to be a little hard to buy. And I don’t think Harvey Dent died at the end of the movie… well… Harvey Dent surely died, but I think his alterego is still alive. Although that’s the kind of thing that depends on movie deals for the next Batman. If the actor can’t come back, then yes… I guess Dent is dead all right. So that means that all that I wrote about Harvey’s death is absolutely pointless… great. Well, since it’s written, I’ll keep it there.

Anyway… I just wanted to write and say congrats on the blog and that I look foward to the next post.

Wow! I think your Dark Knight comparisons are very interesting. Very thoughtful and detailed. Good job. I look forward to reading your next post. I also find myself comparing every book I read or movie I see to Harry Potter now. It’s so easy to do since the themes in HP are so universal.

Thanks for the kind words Thio, and Martha.

As for Harvey, I think to look at Harvey Dent’s death (or non-existent death) you have to look at it assuming the movies are real. So assume the deal for the third film hasn’t been made yet. Then if you think Harvey Dent is still alive. I disagree, but I don’t think that really changes the circumstances too much in which him and Dumbledore “went out” in similar fashion.

Martha – if you have any other ideas for me to write about email them in. I’m always looking for ideas :)

I think that the whole discussion behind whether or not Harvey Dent is still alive or not creates even more parallels to the Harry Potter books. Didn’t Harry (and, subsequently, us the readers) think that Dumbledore could still be alive, after seeing his eye in the mirror? I thought that was interesting, especially since Harvey Dent (or, the White Night) is so similar to Dumbledore in the first place (as mentioned in the blog). Love the blog Sam, keep up the good work!
