Martha, Mickey and more…

Lots of buzz over the last week about a possible return (again) for Dr. Martha Jones, played by Freema Agyeman, in one of this year’s upcoming specials. You can find the rumors here, here, here and here. Now, take that with the appropriately-sized grain of salt – I think there were a lot of rumors floating around in the last few months on purpose to keep fans from being completely unsurprised by the announcement of the 11th Doctor. (Come on, not even one of the names rumored was Matt Smith! You can’t tell me that was accidental.)

That said… I don’t know if I’m all that excited about Martha coming back. Again. Look, I think she made a good companion, but honestly – can’t we let her ride off into the sunset like we did Rose, already?

I don’t mean to make her sound like the Dobby of the Doctor Who world, mind you. (OK, OK, really I liked Dobby a lot better toward the end. Honest!) I just feel like her character’s run its course, and if I have to see the Doctor feel sorry for not returning her crush one more time, I’m going to scream. 😛

Now, if Martha just means there’s another UNIT episode coming, that’s great. Bring on the Brig! That, I’d like to see!
