The San Jose Mercury News and Denver Post both report today on how some adult fans of the Harry Potter series share their love of the books through participation in the fanfic-writing community. The Post also has an article on how Potter is "magic for grownups".

Accio and Lumos Fandom Events Updates

We have two pieces of news today regarding the Harry Potter Conventions that are to take place in the near future.
First, Accio 2005, the UK Harry Potter Conference, has announced that, due to demand, they will have day tickets available to the public for Saturday, July 30th. The announcement says:

The July issue of Wired includes an article about fanfiction. It traces the history, back into the Star Trek days, notes that it's a common activity of burgeoning writers, and comments on the various fics about the motorcycle of Sirius Black, who the reporter deems "a minor character in the Harry Potter saga".

The organizers for Lumos 2006, an HP convention to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, next year, have let us know their new Web site is open for business.

Prodigy Potter Fan Dead at 14

Brandenn Bremmer, 14, an American musical prodigy and Potter fan, apparently committed suicide last week in his home, The Telegraph reports.
